New York Teen Wins Cover Search Contest
New York, NY January 16, 2005 – Alyssa McKay of Cathedral High School is the winner
of Prom Guide’s annual cover model search and will grace the cover of a regional edition of Prom
Guide magazine. Over 5,000 teens competed for the cover model contest while over 100,000
teens voted from around the country.
Alyssa McKay was highlighted in a weekly email blast and showcased on
promguide.com. Last November, she and one of her parents arrived in New York for the photo
shoot with transportation and accommodations courtesy of Prom Guide Magazine. She received
a free prom dress courtesy of lafemmefashion.com and met with Robin Dornbaum of Jordan, Gill,
& Dornbaum Talent Agency, Inc., a talent agent who represents Tyler J. Williams from the hit
show, Everyone Hates Chris and Aleisha Allen of the film, Are We There Yet?
The 2006 edition of Prom Guide Magazine where Alyssa McKay will appear will reach
nearly 1,000,000 teens in high schools by February 2006. When asked how her friends and
family reacted when she won, Alyssa McKay said, “My friends and family were more excited than
me.” Alyssa McKay will also receive a $250 scholarship from Prom Guide Magazine in June.
Garfield Bowen, publisher, says, “We have great relationships with all our cover models.
We encourage them to succeed in life whether it is in the professional world or the fashion arena.
A few do become successful in the fashion and television business.”
