Hi, I’m MichaelShao, one of the co-founders for shoptimize, a mobile application that lets you grocery shop in an optimized fashion.
The current problem that we see today lies in the methodology of our current shopping habits.Everyone shops – that’s a given; we can’t avoid it, and we’ll always need to be doing this until the end of time.-- Currently, the way I shop is I make lists. Tons and tons of lists. I check prices across flyers, and I cross-check to ensure it’s actually the cheapest there.-- The problem lies in how much time I’ve just spent doing this menial task.-- There are so many unknown variables that we don’t know of until later on – for example, was this the absolute cheapest price we could have gotten? -- How much more money could we have saved if we bought it, say, two days later? – was the savings worth it? -- Most times, we’ll never know for sure, and this can bother people (especially me).-- Basically, if we had to make the problem a single question statement, it’d be something along the lines of “How does one shop in an optimal way?”, defining ‘optimal’ as being able to do something without wasting money or time.
