2. Rebecca Kerr
• The Eighth Decay
• Air of ice, and silence broken,
• Upon November’s air was
spoken,
• “Autumn, where did you go?
• Are you buried beneath the
snow?”
•
• Through the wood I drearily
wandered,
• And when I stopped, I wearily
wondered,
• “Where are the auburn leaves?
• That once flowed from the
trees?”
•
• And yet, echoes of the past
remained,
• Although, of course, through
memory strained,
• Now, adjourned with death and
rot,
• The eighth land which I had
near forgot.
•
• And those are the shoes we are
never to grow out of,
• The ones which will weigh us
down.
• And from our mouths, we
preach only true love,
• But, if trees could weep and
roses frown…
3. Emily Gough
• My dog Bailey
• As I wake up from my alarm
• I stop and see something that looks like a rug
• I wait a minute and see if it could do any harm
• And then I realise it’s just my dug
•
• I get up and wash my face and leave Bailey in her place
• I take about five minutes in fact
• When I get back I find Bailey in my space
• And I think to myself why the heck did she do that?
•
• After we get down stairs I get ready to take her out for a walk
• She yawns, stretches and plods along
• She looks at me and jumps and then I say do you want me to throw a rock?
• I put on her jacket and lead and say right Bailey come on!
•
• When we get our walk I dry her off
• After that I put out her food but it smells so bad it makes me want to gag
• And sometime she does this funny backwards cough
• Lamb, chicken or beef who knows what’s in that bag?
•
• Sometimes Bailey makes me laugh
• But I really hate giving her a bath
• Don’t get me started on her farts
• They could make the red sea part
•
• By Emily Gough
4. Rachel Boyce
• My Dog by Rachel Boyce
• I see a tail wagging and hear some barking
• I see those big floppy ears
• As the sky is darkening
• And the moonlight appears
•
• As we walk and we play
• I feed her at dinner time
• We could do this all day
• I hear her collar chime
•
• I play with her all day long
• I love to take her on walks
• But she is so strong
• Then I go home and talk
•
• I hate the squeaky toys
• Those muddy paw prints in the house
• She growls at the boys
• I wish she was as quiet as a mouse
• I feel safe when she is here
•
• She makes me feel happy
• She is always near
• But when the postman appears she is yappy
•
•
5. Andrew Heron
• My room
• My room is very small
• I have toy piled up against the
wall
• I have a little swing
• Where I like to do my own thing
• I like to relax on my bed
• With music flowing through my
head
• But when the heating is on
• I’m sweating to my haun
• In my room I play my game
• But sometimes it get pretty
lame
• When my family comes round
• We spend a little pound
• In my room I feel relaxed and
warm
• Until my family comes in like a
swarm
• I like the peace and quiet
• But when my family comes in it
sounds like a riot
6. Gail Proctor
• My Garden
• As I sit in the summer breeze ,
And see the trees sway side to side
I sit there and look at the buzzing bees,
Then suddenly I am full of pride.
• I look around for something to draw,
Hopefully I can look at the scenery for
inspiration.
Then all of a sudden all I saw ,
Was a famous painting which took a lot of
concentration.
• I hate it when the wind blows things away ,
I think about what I should do ,
Why can’t all the things just stay ,
So I think it all through .
• During the summer I admire the scenery:
The flowers blooming and the bright
sunshine
And the sun shining on the greenery;
I like to think of the garden as just mine.
7. Craig Bias
My Dog Jack
• My dog has black and curly hair.
• With a white patch on his chest.
• When he stands up he looks like a bear
• My dogs’ ears are the best.
• I like to take him out for walks.
• And also have to feed him.
• I’m teaching him how to talk.
• When we got him we called him Tim
• When winter comes we play in the snow.
• I like it when we play.
• We have so much fun we don’t want the
snow to go!
• I play with him everyday!
• I hate it when he pulls the lead.
• I hate it when he barks.
• I hate it when he plays deid.
I hate the muddy marks.
8. Zoe Moir
• A rainy day
• Rain smashing down the garden wall
• While the kids outside splash about
• You can sometimes hear the birds call
• But I would never go out
•
• Staying in bed with lots of food
• Rainy days are family days for me
• Cosy days are always good
• And having pizza for our tea
•
• Rain, always leaves mud behind
• And from time to time it gets boring
• But staying indoors lets me clear my mind
• And always ends in me snoring
•
• Bored…as the day goes on
• Not moving out of bed all day
• Listening to repeated songs
• Wishing it was a sunny day in May…
9. Zoe Darroch
• My Cat
My cat is soft and fluffy
• Hopefully not covered in fleas!
• My cat is a bit chubby
• And his favourite food is cheese.
•
• He stays inside all of the time
• So uses a litter tray
• He also really loves to climb
• And anything to do with play.
•
• I choose his name: Socks.
• I enjoy listening to him purr
• He likes hiding in a box
• And when I pat his fur.
• I dislike it when he makes people sneeze
• Which he always seems to do.
• I hate his smelly litter tray,
• Oh I wish he could use the loo!
•
• I am pleased we got him,
• He makes me feel glad.
• Socks may be a little dim
• But at least he is never sad.
10. Libbi Lonsdale
• My Dogs
• As my dogs long tongues hang
• I get them water before they die,
• When the gate lock bangs
• Their huge soft paws go running by.
•
• Their nose is wet and scrubby
• Their ears hang rather low,
• They always bring back the stick back
• No matter how far you throw.
•
• They like to play
• But hate getting wet,
• In the morning they lay
• Looking forward to the next walk, I bet.
• I love my dogs with all my heart
• I think they love me too,
• They make me feel so happy to start
• My day when I feel blue!
•
11. Amy Coutts
• Rainy Days
• Wind blows wild, rain clouds pass
• Outside I see the swaying grass
• My wellies are covered in nothing
but mud
• It’s so cold not one flower has a
bud
• The raindrops fall hard and fast
• Off the ground the droplets crash
• If I go outside I’ll need a hood
• The darkness puts me in a bad
mood
• Watching movies is good for a day
• Though it’d be boring if it was
always that way
• I stay inside to keep warm and dry
• I look out the window as the rain
drops fly
• I hate going outside when it pours
• Jackets dripping water all over the
floors
• Being soaking wet makes me freeze
• Especially when there’s a really
cold breeze
• A sunny day would be the best
• It could beat all the rainy rest
• I wish it would return to summer
• The rain is really quite a bummer
12. Emily Thomson
• My Dog
• My dog’s fur is very fluffy
• My dog’s eyes are big and brown
• My dog’s ears are very floppy
• and I never see her frown
•
• She likes to play with all her toys
• and go out for lots of walking
• She’ll sometimes make a lot of noise
• and all I hear is her talking
•
• She gives me lots of hugs
• and I think it’s very sweet
• They’re better than any hugs from pugs
• and I make sure to give her lots of
treats
• Although she can stink
• and be really smelly
• She won’t stop to think
• and still jumps on me while I’m
watching telly
•
She makes me feel loved and happy
• I really am lucky
• Even though she can be sassy
• She is very plucky.
13. Blair Marshall
• THE GARDEN
• The washing whirls in the wind
• And the leaves blow off the trees
• The birds fly as they please
• The wind chimes chime in the gentle
breeze
•
• Sometimes I sit and wonder
• About how the stars make a picture
• Sometimes I hear a quiet rumble of
thunder
• The garden is a place I love to go
• It is peaceful when the breezes blow
• It is so beautiful when the snow falls
• It forms a little piece of heaven
•
• In the garden I feel happy
• My garden is now my favourite place
• This is when I feel the best
• Most of the time I am at rest
14. Lewis MacGregor
• My Garden
• I see my dogs running around
• They must be happy to be out
• Especially now that I’m about
• I’m happy I don’t need to shout
•
• I like to work and play
• When the weather is nice
• I sometimes play with clay
• And sometimes have some ice
•
•
• I like to sit and see
• All the cars go by
• I like it when it’s just me
•
• It smells of mud and leaves
• I walk in some puddles
• When the water is to my knees
• After I hope I get a cuddle
•
• I like it when I can relax
• After a long hard day
• And eat some snacks
• And then I will go and play
15. Adam Watson
• School.
•
• The day begins with frosted flakes.
• With breakfast, spoons and clothes.
• As slowly, all the folks awake
• For the place that knowledge grows.
•
• It’s cold out in this dreary place.
• Some may wish to be off.
• They prey to be upon the sand,
• Yet parents merely scoff.
•
• As the bell rings when the clock hits
nine.
• The people flee to registration.
• Some kids here may feel just fine,
• Others feel degradation.
• The nostalgic smells I sniff in here,
• Like pencil lead and chalk.
• Sometimes, that smell fills me with
cheer,
• But now, the halls I walk.
•
• Eventually though, the day must end.
• That thought disheartens me.
• Another day, this world shall send.
• It may be good. We’ll see.
16. Eve Wilson
One Snowy Day.
• On a cold winters night.
• The light white snow falls
• And as the snow falls the Robin calls
• As we drink our hot chocolate we begin
to feel dozy
• We soon fall asleep in our jumpers so
cosy
• When the cold morning comes
• The birds start to Hum
• And my boots against the crunching
snow
• Make them go
• As the snow turns to slush
• My voice is drawn to a sudden hush
• All the snowmen start to melt
• And the snow now looks like a blanket
of felt
• The coldness and the snow has gone
• And now the rain is back on.
17. Leah Ross
• Summer Day
• The sun is shining in the sky
• The birds are singing way up
high
• Children playing in the street
• No socks or shoes upon their
feet
•
• Summer time is finally here
• The longer days are drawing
near
• Lighter nights mean much more
fun
• Life is better in the sun
• Sitting in my chair
• Winds blowing in my hair
• Sun cream in my eye
• Not a cloud in the sky
•
• But wait a minute, what is that?
• A drop runs off my new sun hat
• Don’t want to move: oh what a
pain!
• Here it comes, the blooming
rain.
18. Thomas McCourt
• My Cat
• My cat is small and skinny.
• He is so very funny.
• My cat loves to sit and call.
• He’s like a bunny.
•
• He is occasionally boring.
• I love him to bits and bits.
• He’s usually snoring.
• All he does is sit and sit.
•
• My cat used to always play.
• Kassy’s very lazy.
• Now all he wants to do is sit and lay.
• I think he’s gone crazy.
• He is the funniest thing I know.
• I love to see Kassy.
• I’d hate it to see him go.
• He’s pretty sassy.
•
• I feel he’s aging.
• His favourite food has to be butter.
• He’s slowly not engaging.
• When you see him you’d think he’s a
nutter`.
19. Reece McAneny
• Night Time In The City
• The night is covering the hills one at a time,
• Until there is no light that fills the sky,
• The sound of Owls echoes in the air,
• People wearing hoods like cowls roam the street,
• The raindrops fall from the sky,
• I sleep as I listen to the drips on my window.
•
• Sunny Day In The Garden
– It is a sunny day,
• The garden is filled with joy,
• The bunny is hopping around,
• Children are thrilled with happiness,
• THE BIRDS FLY HIGH IN THE SKY,
• Dogs bark loudly,
• A Sky filled with clouds,
• And the park is filled with sounds of rejoicing.
•
• The Room At Night
A room filled with shadows,
• The sound of crows ringing in the air,
• A sense of fear in the room,
• No presence of cheer,
• As the sleep begins to draw nigh,
• As they pry into the minds of the one resting begin to wake.
20. Lisa Milroy
• Charlie
• In the mornings, he barks like mad
• He is playful and never usually bad
• He is cute, small, black and white
• He is quite nosey and very bright
•
• I usually take him out to play
• I tell him to bark, sit and stay
• When we’re out, I throw his ball
• He comes back to me when I call
•
• He sniffs about at every tree
• When I run, he chases me
• He doesn’t stop wagging his tail
• In sun, in rain or even in hail
•
• I hate it when he jumps in puddles
• Then comes to me for cuddles
• He barks and barks all through the
night
• And there’s not even a postie in sight
•
• I love him with all my heart and soul
• To be his best friend is my only goal
• So little Charlie is my best ever friend
• He will be with me till the end
21. Luke McPherson
• My Bedroom
• While I am watching TV
• My brother is annoying me
• Finally he gets out
• What is he all about?
•
• When I am going to sleep
• I don’t want to hear a peep
• I am dreaming of going to Spain
• But I am just a teenage wean
•
• I am now lying in bed
• I now get up to get fed
• I have some breakfast
• That has now past
22. Ian Gilliland
• The Garden
• In my garden I can see
• Muddy puddles up to my knee
• I hear the birds sing in the trees
• As the washing line spins in the
breeze
•
• I like to relax play and shout
• I love it when the birds come out
• But sadly they all have to go
when it starts to snow
•
• I hate it when it rains
• Cause all the mud comes out
• It splashes in the lanes
• And makes me scream and shout
•
• Sometimes I hear the birdies
tweet
• Sometimes it is annoying
Sometimes IT IS SWEET
• SOMETIMES I PLAY WITH A BALL
AT MY FEET
• SOMETIMES I WIN, SOMETIMES I
ADMIT DEFEAT
23. Luke Russell
• Max
• My dog’s name is Max,
and he loves to relax.
He loves lying down
and running around the town.
•
• I give him lots of treats,
and walk him around the
streets.
I love giving him pets,
and he hates going to the vets.
•
• Although he’s very loyal,
we treat him like he’s royal.
He likes getting cuddles,
and jumping in big puddles.
•
• He lays in awkward places,
sometimes makes funny faces.
He’s scared of big balloons,
and hides in the bathroom.
•
• He makes me very happy,
His reactions are very snappy.
He's very cute for sure,
He makes me feel secure.
24. Hollye Haggerty
• My Garden
• I love it when the rabbits come,
• They look like they’re having loads of fun,
• Hopping, jumping, bouncing around,
• It seems like they never touch the ground.
•
• When I am bored I go for a wander,
• Sitting by the summerhouse with no distractions I ponder.
• What flowers and plants will look their best,
• What little birds will cheep from their nest.
•
• In bad weather the leaves from the trees fall,
• Leaving an empty space, abandoned tools and an old football.
• The smell of dampness fills the cold winter air,
• The whole garden suddenly looks very bare.
•
• Then summer comes, the new bulbs have all grown
• The grass is thick and green, waiting to be mown.
• I love it best when the sun comes out the play,
• And I can look at the pretty flowers in their natural display.
25. Jack Clow
• On a Nice Summer’s Day
• The grass is green,
• Everyone is out to play,
• Not a raindrop to be seen,
• On a nice summer’s day.
•
• The sun is out and shining,
• Only get this in May,
• Old and young laughing and
smiling,
• On a nice summer’s day.
•
• Twisting and turning
through the meadow,
• It is that delightful I don’t
know what to say,
• Bright blue and beautiful
minnow,
• On a nice summer’s day.
•
• A good day for a campfire,
• A lovely place to stay,
• A nice wee sing-song,
• On a nice summer’s day.
26. Mr Burns
• In My Garden
• My garden smells of mud and leaves
• I have to wear my wellies
• The kids go splashing as they please
• Get wet up to their bellies.
•
• I love to sit and sip and read
• I hate to hing oot washin’
• I sometimes watch a squirrel feed
• And hear the magpies clashing.
•
• When spring arrives the birds return
• To cheer us with their song
• In summer I can easily burn
• When sunbathing too long.
•
• But, when the garden’s full of weans
• Up trees, on trampolines
• They make a noise like rushing trains
• To mar my peace serene.
•
• Yet, mostly am I at my ease
• When I have time to spare
• I doze off in the gentle breeze
• And dream without a care.
