SKN Electronics Issue 9 Highlights Solar and Energy Savings
1. Issue 9
Welcome to Issue 9 of our newsletter, outlining the environmental and
energy saving investment we have made over the last 12 months.
Once again we are at that time of the year when we would like to take
the opportunity to wish all our customers and suppliers a very good
Xmas break and a prosperous New Year and thank you for all your
custom and help during the past 12 months.
We will be closed from the 21st December 2012 until the 2nd January 2013
To ensure that SKN Electronics
maintain their competitive edge
now and in the future as well as
helping to reduce global warming
we have installed 270 Solar Panels
on the roof of our building which
between them can produce 50kw
per hour on a normal sunny day.
This will represent over 1/3rd of
our total annual electricity usage.
The useful productive life of the system is over 30 years and we have
generated over 41,000 kWh so far in the 10 months from the installation
date, despite below average sunshine this year.
Further measures to reduce our carbon footprint include installing a heat
recycling system which is expected to reduce our heating costs by a half.
With the environment being such a big issue now we have embarked on
attaining our WEEE approval but prior to that have been recycling our
cardboard and other waste materials. All these measures are not only
kinder to the world we live in but also allow SKN Electronics to continue to
remain competitive for years to come to the benefit of our customers.
