Welcome, thank you for coming. I am Gary Looney and I am going to detail today why our school system needs to create the position and hire me as a Mobile App Developer.
Mobile Applications are everywhere in our world today. They are part of almost, if not all, of our students’ lives today. We have the opportunity to take the interest that these students have in the applications and use it in the classroom. Many of our teachers have begun using educational applications in their classrooms to increase motivation and raise student interest levels. I propose the creation of this position to help in the expansion of the use of applications in the classrooms. One of the main abilities of this position would be the creation of personalized classroom applications.
A developer that is educated in learning solutions is needed to create educational apps that are usable in the classroom. There are a lot of good programmers out there but there are just a few that have worked in the public school system as educators. I taught in the public school system for four years and I used applications in my classrooms. I know what works and what does not.
Some of the steps in development are:Development Time: The development time entails the amount of time to develop a working app. This time varies on the complexity of an application. I would interview and discuss the application with instructors in the school system. (The Mobile App Developer performs this step.) Implementation Time: The Implementation time is completed by the instructor and is the time in which they are beginning to use it in their classrooms. Ratio of Mobile Devices: This step is completed at individual schools. Administrators and educators work together to increase ratio of mobile devices. This goal is to achieve a 1:1 ratio of mobile device to student. Investment: This entails the cost of my services as a Mobile App Developer and Education Technology Specialist and the time investment that you want to make in this program.
Mobile Technology Integration Plan is a document that I created for this school system. (This takes what was discussed in slide 4 and puts it into a very professional document that is printed.) This document details in depth my plans for this position and the school system. Are there any questions.
This timeline details the steps that would be taken with the position. This is roughly a simplification of the Mobile Technology Integration Plan.
To reaffirm the need for this position I have included this to show you the sheer magnitude of the amount of applications that are out there and how they are a major part of today’s world.
