1. PDE2 OVERSEAS STUDY TRIP TO
DESARU, JOHOR ON 11 JANUARY 2016

2. Objectives of the Trip
• As part of Personal Development & Effectiveness module
on cross-cultural skills, a study trip to Johor Bahru is
organized for all PFP students to provide an opportunity
for you to understand and respect cross-cultural
differences by observing the lifestyles and work of
different cultures and people. You will be accompanied by
your Care Persons to promote camaraderie. After the trip,
you are required to submit a report of the trip, as part of
the tasks for the module.
4. Experience
• Primary basis of the trip is for you to have an
understanding on the anthropology (culture and way of
life) of the people residing in East Johor, particularly the
village folks to have an authentic experience in
understanding their lifestyles and practices in their
livelihood.
• You will also be given the opportunity to visit some
agricultural enterprise/s to see how agriculture has taken
the slant to merge with contemporary business practices.
5. Itinerary
Morning
• The set off will start from TP in which you will be taken
across the causeway to meet our tour guides. Breakfast
will be served during a stop over along the way.
• For the morning programme you will visit a local kampung
and indulge in some hands-on activities at the premise.
Afternoon
• Afternoon programme includes visitation to different
agricultural enterprises like fruit farm, ostrich farm or bee
farm. Classes will be allocated to these enterprises on a
later date.
6. Itinerary
Late Afternoon
We will spend the late afternoon/early evening at a dinner
location where you can take the opportunity to bond with
your classmates by choosing your own spot for dinner.
There may also be opportunities for you to acquire some
souvenirs for your families.
Mid Evening
We will be leaving for Singapore after dinner and will arrive
at TP by approximately 8pm.
7. Points to note
• All students must submit your passport and indemnity
forms to Mr Alfred Chan by 11/12/2015. This is especially
so for students who have had their passports renewed.
• The cost for the trip is $64.00. Students will be required to
pay directly to the tour operators in cash or cheque (will
advise you on the addressee later).
• Students who have successfully applied for your OF
subsidy will receive $64.00 credited into your account by
11/12/2015. You may withdraw this amount for payment
on 11/12/2015.
• A receipt will be issued by the tour operator on the spot to
you.
8. Application for the use of PSEA
AFTER THE TRIP
You may apply to claim your travel cost from PSEA. To
ensure you get the claim without any issues, please ensure
the following:
1. An application form to be submitted WITHOUT any
cancellations or correction on the form.
2. The ORIGINAL receipt is attached to the PSEA claim
form.
Your CP will pass you the PSEA claim form after the trip.
The claimed amount will be credited to your bank account.
If you do not have a bank account registered a cheque will
be mailed to you.
9. Application for the use of PSEA
• More information on the procedures for claim will be made
known to you after the trip. However it is important that
you retain the original receipt.
• Please note that defaced, torn or having the receipt in any
‘faulty’ conditions may result in your application being
rejected.
• Photocopies will not be accepted.
10. Trip Briefing
• You are required to attend a trip briefing on 11/12/2015 at
11.00am (LT26 and LT27) after your Math Test.
