A DAY AT SCHOOL

The days at school are usually the same. Only few times they can be different,
for example when we have a trip, a concert, a race, a Carnival festival...etc.
A day at school starts at half past eight. I always go to school by car. My dad
drives me and my brother to school. We arrive at school at twenty five past eight more
or less. Fortunately we are hardly ever late.
When the bell rings at half past eight all the students go quietly to our
classrooms. There is no hurry. Some people go into the school through the main door,
that it is on the first floor, and the other people enter through the back door, that it is
on the third floor. I prefer entering through the back door because this way there are
fewer steps and I’m not so tired. When we finally arrive at our class we sit in our desk
and we take the books from our bags. After this ‘preparation process’ the first lesson
starts. Some students are ready, but others are still sleepy. Each lesson lasts fifty
minutes. When you like the subject of the lesson the minutes go quickly, but if you don’t
like the subject fifty minutes can be like hours!
After the first lesson there is another lesson, the second, before the first
break. The first break is only fifteen minutes, from ten past ten to twenty five past
ten. We often buy something to eat in the canteen; we go for a walk across the
playground to take some fresh air…
When the first break finishes there are two lessons more, the third and the
fourth lessons and then the second break! The second break is a bit longer. It lasts
twenty five minutes, from five past twelve to half past twelve. We enjoy a lot this
break because we have more time. We can do the same than in the first break. For
example: go to the canteen, go for a walk, go to the toilet (if you need it), meet your
girlfriend or boyfriend (if you have it)… etc.
Next the second break is the fifth lesson and finally, the sixth lesson, that it’s
the last lesson of the day. When this lesson finishes and the bell rings at ten past two
all the students leave our classes and go downstairs to take the bus home.
Only on Mondays the students have to go back to school in the afternoon, but
only for two lessons, from a quarter past four until five to six. In my opinion it is
terrible have class in the afternoon, but we have to bear it.

                                                                          Andrea Diéguez
