Considering the rising need of HR solutions, Morpheus
Human Consulting has a consistent and successful track
record of closing senior level positions with reputed
companies and opted for the franchise route for its pan
India expansion. In an interview Kailash Shahani,
Managing Director, Morpheus Human Consulting Pvt.
Ltd. shares the company’s future aspirations.
Abha Garyali (AG): Share with us the conception, growth
and success of Morpheus Human Consulting.
Kailash Shahani (KS): Starting with just a couple of clients,
Morpheus has had steady growth and now expanded its client
base to over 250 clients from domestic and international market.
Morpheus has serviced big names in the industry like Tata,
Reliance, DHL Express, E&Y, Kodak etc. Morpheus has
consistent and successful track record of closing senior level
positions with reputed companies. The company also diversified
into training, payroll processing, legal and compliance services as
a step forward to being a one-stop solution for all HR needs to
clients.
AG: When did the company come into existence? How did
you conceptualise the idea for Morpheus Human
Consulting?
KS: Morpheus Human Consulting was initiated in the year 2005
and was incorporated in 2007. Morpheus was started with the
vision ‘We build your assets through human capital’. The vision
2. clearly stresses that people are assets and not mere numbers.
There is always a tendency to protect assets and value them. We
at Morpheus clearly believe that word Human Capital adds
dignity to our business - not as brokers, not as manpower
suppliers, not as CV suppliers but as consultants dealing in a
precious commodity - Human Capital.
AG: When and why did you adopt the franchise route for
expansion of Morpheus Human Consulting? How has
been the franchising experience so far?
KS: Morpheus Management believes ‘we cannot do everything’
and ‘we cannot be everywhere’. Hence when Morpheus was
looking for growth and pan India expansion in 2008, the
management decided to dynamically grow through pro-active
acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures. Hence the franchise
model was introduced to forge symbiotic relationships with
organisations and individuals with HR inclination.
We have had overwhelming response so far from people from
various walks of life that want to start a HR services venture but
are clueless about how to start. Entrepreneurs from Tier II/III
cities specifically who have limited exposure and reach have
been able to kick start HR career with Morpheus support.
AG: What can you say about the future success of
Morpheus Human Consulting? Where do you see the
brand in next five years?
KS: With a dedicated Business Development Team to penetrate
new accounts and Support Team to service and retain existing
accounts, Morpheus is poised to be the most preferred vendor
with clients. Apart from a stronger and more formidable
presence in domestic market, we are looking to grow Morpheus
3. internationally through proactive client acquisition and business
tie-ups.
AG: How is the growth of HR Solution companies in
India?
KS: Permanent recruitment is estimated to be Rs 30 billion
market. This can be due to large companies diversifying into
new sectors, large MNCs, and agricultural and food business
setting up shop in India, acceptance and adoption of search
companies by large family owned conglomerates, growth in IT
and engineering industries, shift from unorganised to large
organised players etc. The HR solutions industry is highly
competitive and is poised for enormous growth in the next 10
years as companies increase their investment in their HR
infrastructure.
AG: How is Morpheus Human Consulting unique from
other HR Solution companies? What is your success
mantra?
KS: Meeting deadlines is the benchmark of strategies at
Morpheus. Financial loss is a biggest de-motivator in a business
process. Therefore meeting deadlines and delivering projects on
or before time becomes quintessential at Morpheus. Moreover, a

AG: How many franchisees do you have presently in India?
What are your plans for the year 2012?
KS: We currently have 15 franchise owned centres across India.
We are looking to strengthen the existing ones and double the
numbers to cover major cities and towns across India.

for in your franchisees?
KS: The various characteristics are:

AG: Share with us the challenges that can be faced by your
franchisees? How can these be overcome?
KS:
Challenge – The start up cost and the pressure of monthly
expenses.
Solution - We allow flexibility in terms of operations and
accommodate on case to case basis.
Challenge - Limited knowledge of HR practices and current
trends.
Solution - Morpheus supports partners with knowledge base
and guidance on current HR trends.
Challenge - Franchisee is unaware of methodology to approach
and tie up with local clients to generate more business.
Solution - Morpheus guides the franchisees on business
development initiatives and helps franchise generate more
business.
