8. WHERE IS THE PHILIPPINES?
The Philippines is located at the South
East Asia. The Philippines is an
archipelago that consists of 7,107 islands.
The 11 largest island contain 94% of the
total land area. The islands are divided
into three groups: The Luzon, Visayas and
Mindanao.

9. WHAT IS THE CAPITAL CITY?
• The Capital of our country is
Manila. It is the center of the
government where you can find
the Malacanang Palace where our
President lives. The picture on the
left is entrance to Old Manila, or
Intramuros, the walled city where
the Spaniards had their offices
during the Spanish colonialization
of the Philippines.
10. WHAT’S THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE?
Our national language is Filipino, but aside from that we also
have 120 to 175 other languages in our country. We also use
English language for international transaction and
communication.

• Our current President is Benigno
Simeon Cojuangco “Noynoy”
Aquino III. He is the 15th President
of The Philippine Republic. He is the
son of a former President, Corazon
Aquino.
12. WHAT’S THE NAME OF YOUR CITY?
• Our place, San Mateo, is not yet
considered as a city, but we belong to
Region IVA of the Philippines, in the
province of Rizal.
13. HAVE YOU GOT HISTORICAL MONUMENTS?
We have lots of Historical Monuments in our country that aims to inculcate
awareness and appreciation of the ideals of our heroes and heroines. The Rizal
Monument is found in Manila while the Tandang Sora Monument is in Quezon
City. Jose Rizal and Tandang Sora are some of the leaders who fought Spanish
colonialism.

15. WEATHER AND TYPHOON
The Philippines has two seasons: The Wet and Dry seasons, because the
Philippines is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, our country experiences
rains and typhoons and sometimes, drought.
During Typhoon Haiyan last November 2013, our place experienced
heavy rains. But Tacloban, Eastern Samar and parts of Iloilo in the
Visayas, thousands of families suffered and lost their homes. Many
people died and until now some are still missing. And as a sympathy to
those who are affected, we helped them by giving some goods, like
money , foods and clothes.
16. DO YOU PRACTICE A SPORT?
Our school is active when it comes in sports. We play basketball, volleyball ,table tennis badminton
and chess.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ACTIVITY?
Our school also participates in contest and friendly games and we are happy to tell that we won on
some of the contest. Our school has activities like Battle of the Bands , Eco-Friendly Contest and
Dance Revolution.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN FREE TIME?
During our free time, we read books or we study our lessons.
HAVE YOU GOT A COMPUTER?
Here in our school , we have computers with internet. But not all of the students
here owns a computer.
17. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SUBJECT AT SCHOOL?
Our subjects include English, Filipino, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Technology and
Livelihood Education and Physical Education, Arts, Health and Music, taken as one. Most of the
students in our school have English as their favourite subject.
WHAT’S THE NUMBER OF PUPIL IN YOUR CLASS?
The typical number of students in every class is 30, and in our section we have 27 students.
DO YOU LEARN FRENCH AND WHAT
LANGUAGES YOU LEARN AT YOUR SCHOOL?
We only study two languages in our school, English and Filipino, but there are some school
in our country that offers multiple languages.

20. WHAT ARE THE FOOD SPECIALTIES?
There are lots of Filipino Cuisines, among them are “Sinigang” and
“Adobo”. Sinigang is either a pork or fish soup or stew characterized
by it being sour through the use of tamarind. Adobo is a pork or
chicken dish, marinated and simmered vinegar, soy sauce, garlic and
oil.
21. WHAT ARE YOUR DREAMS?
• Each of every students here have their different dreams with their own
different reasons. Of course, first in our list is to finish studying to get our
dream jobs in the near future. Most of the students here wants to be a doctor,
teachers and lawyers and they have their own unique reasons why..
22. WHAT ARE YOUR TRADITIONS
Most of our traditions were influenced by different countries. One is celebration
of festivals which we got from the Spanish. Festivals are to give thanks for the
blessings we receive. We also practice “pagmamano”. It’s a tradition when
children or young people greet or say goodbye, we hold the right hand of the
elderly and touch the back hand of the elderly on the forehead
23. HOW DO YOU CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS?
• Since most of the Filipinos are Catholics, we highly give importance on
Christmas. On the 16th day of December, we practice a tradition we call
“Simbang Gabi”, wherein we go church every dawn until the day before
Christmas. We sing Christmas Carols door to door in the neighborhood
and in exchange, the homeowners will give the carollers money or
candies. We also decorates our homes with colourful designs and
Christmas Lanterns.
24. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF FRANCE?
If you’re asking us about France, well, everyone here wants
to travel to France. It looks like a perfect place in terms of
fashion and delicious cuisines. The “City of Love” is also
found in your country, that’s why everyone gets excited
when they hear the word “France”.
