2. PR is all about building good relationships with the public through
media exposure. This exposure is gained not paid for.
Dictionary.com defines it as “The art or science of establishing and
promoting a favorable relationship with the public.”

3. Advertising
Simply put, advertising is paid for. Agencies
specialize in creating media to help sell
products. They use billboards, television
commercials, internet ads etc.

4. Marketing
Marketing encompasses many facets of creating
and maintaining company relationships. Things
like giveaways, trade shows or even taking a
client out for lunch could fall under marketing.

6. Similarities
PR & Marketing both use strategic planning and
focus on goals of the business or company. They also
focus on the brand of the company and maintaining a
certain image.
