I decided to train as an ADI and took on the training part time. I qualified in 1998. I
then started my own business, Mike O’Neill Driver Training.
I am currently a grade 5 instructor; my pass rates for this year are well above
average at 62% (national average 44%).
In 2006 decided I needed a new challenge and decided to look at fleet driver training;
I passed the RoSPA advanced driving test,in 2006, I passed at Gold standard on my
first attempt.
In 2007 I took the IAM advanced driving test and passed.
I passed the RoSPA diploma in Advanced Driving Instruction in July 2007.

2. In July 2009 I completed the training to become a SaFED for vans instructor gaining
an excellent grading.
I am on the Driving Standards Agency’s fleet training register.
In 2009 I completed a training course to provide driver CPC training for AA
DriveTech.
I regularly carry out fleet driver training work for a number of companies including
AA DriveTech, Driverskills, DriveSense, Driving Ambition., and RoSPA.
I currently also do work for Pro-Drivers on new vehicle launches and in dealer
training.
My plans for the future are to further advance my qualifications with the Diamond
advanced test, and a Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector ( PTTL)
course.
I want to put all of this expertise into good use and carry on working in the fleet
environment where I believe there is enormous scope for training.
My passion is driving and cars, being a self confessed petrol head, I hope by imparting
some of my enthusiasm and knowledge to other drivers that I can make a difference to
the driving standards of those I come into contact with.
