2. The genes.
hormone receptor genes- any type of
gene(s) that would effect whether you
are nice or not.
Oxytocin and vasopressin- the genes that
inspire feelings of love and generosity.
3. The facts.
new research done at the University of
Buffalo, suggests that if you have the genes that give
you versions of certain hormone receptors(Oxytocin
and vasopressin), you're more likely to be a nice
person than if you have the genes from one of the
other versions.
the difference between having the "nicer" hormone
receptor and the "less nice" receptor is in a single DNA
base pair located on the third chromosome.
The percentage of people with each genotype varies
greatly between ethnicities.
4. And the survey says…
In most households that have just two siblings, they
turn out to be polar opposites; one kind and
generous, the other mean-spirited. This would have
to do with the hormone receptor genes, oxytocin
and vasopressin.
When hundreds of people were surveyed about how
they feel about their attitudes toward civic duty, their
charitable activities and their worldview. 711 people
said they enjoyed it which means they had the
hormone receptor genes and the others did not.
