Minjung Lee is applying for an internship with the Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP). She has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and experience with a project analyzing the heat recovery system of a zero energy home. She also has experience working on an international student project where she helped mediate between team members and ensure the project was completed successfully. She believes her engineering and project management skills would make her a valuable contributor to MnTAP's work analyzing systems and suggesting improvements.

Dear Ms. Linda:
Please accept this letter, resume and application as an indication of my interest in the Minnesota
Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP) for a junior or senior college student. With my undergraduate
background in mechanical engineering and electrical control along with communication skill, I believe I
could make a valuable contribution to MnTAP.
In 2014, I finished a final project with 2 teammates about Heat Recovery Ventilator in a Zero Energy
House at Handong Global University. Courses I have taken have allowed me to be involved in a final
project that has given me experience analyzing existing model and making suggestions to improve
existing system with the analysis of the data collected. I could learn how to approach problem-solving
process and design the experiment based on simulation results. In addition, I have learned about general
information about zero energy house including renewable energy and energy efficiency by analyzing
energy flow and efficiency of zero energy house model.
My experience also includes the project done with other students from various countries. I visited a
resident's home and helped her by installing the product made by the project. Because of the variety of
cultural backgrounds, there have been difficulties and troubles threatening a team work. As a member of
team, I acted as a referee between team members, and tried to gather the opinions of the most members of
the team to make on a concensus within the team. I tried to maximize each member's strong points and
help team to complement each other's weak points to make the project successfully done. I could learn
how to cooperate with other people in the project and arbitrate a dispute. I also assisted with the
development of ideas for solving the problem the local resident faced.
Should you so decide I would welcome the opportunity to work for companies associated with MnTAP. I
was encouraged to learn about energy efficiency, pollution prevention, and energy conservation to make
an environment-friendly industrial system. I strive to align myself to achieve this goal and would enjoy
being a part of project where I would analyze system based on engineering knowledge, suggest ideas
based on the analysis, and work with international partners. I believe my combination of team project
experience and engineering training is an excellent match for the MnTAP position you described.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful consideration of my application. I look forward to hearing from
you soon.
Sincerely,
Minjung Lee
