2. About me.
Growing up in
Idaho, I loved being
outdoors. I spent
my free time playing
sports, running,
mountain biking,
taking photos and
enjoying the outdoors.
These interest have
contributed to my
passion in landscape
architecture,
design, and nature
conservancy.
My wife and I have
been married for
5 years and just
welcomed our first
baby, Molly, to our
family.

4. Heads Up
Landscape
Contractors is
a large design/build
firm that has installed
and designed several
of the prominent
landscapes throughout
New Mexico. As a
design associate my
responsibilities include
designing, illustrating,
estimating, and
bidding landscapes
ranging in scale from
large parks to intimate
gardens. I have helped
establish new markets
for the company by
providing 3D rendering
and new computer
graphic services. I
am also assisting
them with redesigning
and managing of the
company website.
These experiences
have helped me to
better understand
the connections
between designers
and contractors, a
relationship that I
feel is crucial for a
successful project.

6. Mending is an in
depth study about
trends in suburban
development
specifically in Utah
County of Utah. The
focus of this Master’s
Report is to provide
the background
and evidence that
there are design
alternatives which
can contribute to the
mending of suburban
sprawl. The analysis
of the two design
proposals provides
valuable insight into
the feasibility or
desirability of key
design principles
contained in each
design proposal.
The study provides
compelling evidence
that alternative
methods of community
design and suburban
development are to
be considered to help
the region achieve its
long range planning
goals set forth in the
Envision Utah initiative.

8. The Gerald
D. Hines
Student Design
Competition is
a two-week intense
competition sponsored
by the Urban Land
Institute. It is open
to graduate students
in design, planning,
business, and law.
Our project titled
“Pulse” cultivates
urban development
throughout San
Diego’s East Village,
providing families
with an urban
alternative to suburbia
by centralizing
opportunities for
education and
innovation in San
Diego. With schools,
a library, green space,
and an entrepreneurial
center, Pulse sustains
life in a progressive
community. I
generated all the
renderings for this
project to portray our
design intent to the
judges. Methods used
include ArcGIS 9.3,
Autocad Civil 3D 2010,
Sketchup, SUPodium,
Photoshop, and
Illustrator.
10. Peora City Hall
Rendering.
CMT Engineering
contracted with myself
to produce conceptual
renderings for the
city of Peoria, IL.
Renderings were used
for fund raising efforts
for the renovation of
the existing city plaza.
All renderings were
produced by myself.
Methods used include
Autocad Civil 3D 2010,
SketchUp, SUPodium,
and Photoshop.
12. Terrybrook
Farms
residential
community
located in Overland
Park, KS, produced
for Don Julian
Development. The
concept of this plan
revolved around open
space preservation
while creating distinct
neighborhoods with
individual identities. A
community center was
located near the main
entrance to welcome
visitors. Methods
used were ArcGIS 9.3,
Autocad Civil 3D 2010
and Photoshop.
Construction
documents produced:
- master plan
- road alignment
- mass grading
- storm water
14. Northland
Design. As a
landscape architect
intern, I was exposed
to various aspects of
landscape architecture
including program
development,
conceptualization,
design detail,
and construction
documentation. I
was able to work on
projects from small
residential gardens,
to large commercial
projects.
15.
16. Baker Residence
Is located in the
neighborhood of Two
Rivers in Eagle, Idaho.
While working for
Evolution Landscape
and Nursery I was
able to oversee the
design installation for
this entire project. I
managed crews for
grading, hardscape,
and planting. The
challenges in this
project involved
creating a flagstone
patio with a sand
beach surrounded
with large boulders.
The projects was
focused on creating
privacy screens for
the residence while
preserving views to
the man-made lake
in the backyard. This
project was exciting
because of the needed
coordination with the
landscape architect
and the landscape
contractor.
18. Lakemoor and
Dallan Woods
are two neighborhoods
in Eagle and Nampa,
While working for
Evolution Landscape
and Nursery, I was
able to oversee
installation and
maintenance for many
of the landscape
projects in these
developments. I
coordinated plant
installation with the
landscape architect
and construction
crew leaders, ensured
quality control, and
organized installation
schedules. Challenges
for these projects
included coordinating
installation for
large plant material
and ensuring their
successful survival.
These projects were
extremely rewarding
for myself because of
the interaction I had
with the landscape
architect and the
practical experience I
received.
20. Constuction
Drawings were
created for a new
athletic center at
Doane College in
Crete, NE.
Drawings include:
-Development Plan
-Grading Plan
-Earthwork Plan
-Layout Plan
-Irrigation Plan
-Lighting Plan

22. An urban redesign
focused on the
Central Corridor
of St. Paul, MN.
The existing buildings
of an industrial site
were to be
transformed into a
dense transit
hub with bus,
commuter and
light rail services.
The concept
focused on two
anchors, the light
rail station and
the commuter
station, to create
a pedestrian zone
full of services
for all travelers.
This concept was
derived from the
model of shopping
malls with anchor
stores at the
edges. The plan
is centered by a
plaza demonstrating
the importance
of the railroad to
the regional history.
