SAM brings the an elite panel of speakers for the Panel Discussion themed on “The Unfulfilled Dream : Vision behind IITs”. Panelist - Dr. D.B. Phatak (Alumni and professor) Prof. Ali Q Contractor (Moderator) Satish Joshi (Alumni) Antariksh Bothale (Young alumni) Vaibhav pittie (Student Representative) Date - 7th October | Time - 5pm - 6:30pm | venue - VMCC Main Auditorium Beyond The Horizons event brings the opportunity to interact with alumni who prefered unconventional profession and followed their passion in respective fields such arts, politics, social entrepreneurship, mountaineering etc. Alumni Speakers are- Shazad Wakeel (Founder of Pankhudi NGO and Rang club, IITB) Derek Monteiro (Painter,musician,poet) Vasant Limaye (Mountaineer) Ajit Phadnis (Civic activist) Ankur Pegu (Health care services) Sundeep Kapila (studied LLB after IIT) Date - 6th October | Time - 5pm - 6:30pm | venue - VMCC Main Auditorium This year, SAM has also expanded to encompass cultural and sports events to make it a complete festival for students and alumni together. The sports events are organized on day 1 (4-7PM)in gymkhana and the cultural events are organized both days at same timing in SAC. In addition to that tech fair to display the STAB projects is also arranged at VMCC ground floor on both days from 1 to 5pm. With events on the lines of placement preparation (Mock Interviews by Alumni) to open ended fundae session on Power of Innovation, there is a little something for everyone. Adding the humor factor, the famous alumni comedian Rivaldo will be performing in the SAM on Sunday. Through this blend of versatility this year, SARC wishes to engulf the entire institute in the various events planned during the course of the event. We also hope to create strong long lasting bonds between IITians, both new and old. SAM - The bonds that bind
- 1. Unity in Diversity The bonds that bind SAM Student Alumni Meet
- 2. The story begins when totally divergent and dissimilar entities - we’ll call them atoms who by a special screening process – JEE! entered the haloed portals of IIT Bombay (Indian Institute of tension… Oops! Technology!)
- 3. These young hopeful atoms scared of ragging I’m sure, unconsciously began interacting with each other.
- 4. There was safety in numbers they thought...
- 5. …Lets face the music together!
- 6. So the bonding began. Two or three of the atoms got together and formed a molecule and then the molecules got together and formed bigger molecules.
- 7. …But The final product was still in a nascent baby phase.
- 8. Surprise quizzes, relative grading, SPI, CPI, Engineering drawing, wood & metal workshops, labs – these atoms bumped into them all.
- 9. …Other bonding opportunities Cultural… dramatics literary art elocution photography music
- 10. Sporty encounters… football Javelin Weight lifting
- 11. At meal times…
- 12. Aha… bird watching! Interesting bonding sighted
- 14. Temperature rising! Who unplugged me? Aha! I got the cat into the bag!
- 15. Back to reality Many doubts did arise… upwards? Downwards? Where are we going? Sideways but straight? Unsteadily upwards?
- 16. Philosophical questions still nagged Are we just cogs in the academic machine churning out iit degrees? Then graduation Hurrah! I got the degree!
- 17. My bags are packed But which way to go?
- 18. Home? Abroad?
- 19. And so the students pursued their individual goals and soon became Alumni of IITB…………… BU T i n t i m e , t h ey r e t u r n e d o n c e A g a i n to t h e i r A l m a M at e r … .
- 20. ….And began to interact & share their experiences with the present students on campus. A strange phenomenon began to unfold….due to these interesting student-alumni interactions…..Planck by quantum planck (nothing constant about this!)……..cricks in inner, mental walls began to appear…..
- 21. And the inner walls of Diversity came crashing down and Unity, the new cement that really binds people heart, mind and soul emerged from this admixture of diverse debris.
- 22. Voila! The final product had quietly emerged
- 23. – the intangible yet concrete cement of Unity…….. cryptically classified….

SAM started as a platform to facilitate student-alumni interactions and to help students avail of the numerous benefits IITB's pool of experienced alumni can provide. various events such as Beyond the Horizons, Buddy Talks, Mentor-mentee lunch which are part of the Alumni Student Mentorship Program - the first of its kind and many more such events. , SAM has been expanded to encompass cultural and sports events to make it a complete festival for students and alumni together.. We hope to create strong long lasting bonds between IITians, both new and old..
