NARRATIVES
The HYPE AND The HOLLA
(no, “holla” is not a real word. I just used it for alliteration and entertainment purposes.  )

HAVE A SEAT – GRAB A LITERATURE BOOK – CHOOSE ONE OR TWO PEOPLE TO
WORK WITH YOU. (PAIRS OR TRIOS ONLY) GET READY TO WORK ON MARY
ROWLANDSON’S CAPTIVITY NARRATIVE!
You will each have a different “Remove” to close read
and
CHART in your TRIO (Removes 1-19)
Be ready to summarize your remove for the class.
CHART

• EVENTS OF THE REMOVE – What happened? (Key points summary)
• WORDS SHE USES TO DESCRIBE INDIANS (CONNOTATIVE or DESCRIPTIVE)
• HER FEELINGS TOWARD THE INDIANS (A few telling words of the sentence & Cite paragraph)
• TIMES SHE REFERED TO GOD’S MERCY ON HER (Summarize or use a few key words of the
sentence & Cite paragraph)
• TIMES SHE REFERED TO GOD PROTECTING HER (Summarize & Cite)

• TIMES SHE REFERED TO SCRIPTURE AS COMFORT (Cite – only cite one of these)
You must include lines with … or page and
paragraph #’s to support what you chart. Be
