The song chosen for my music video is by Jake Bugg and is called Messed Up
Kids. The genre of the music video will be indie/alternative. The mise en scene
in the music video will help to represent the genre. In somescenes, the main
character will also be seen with a cigarette in his hand which is also symbolic of
the indie genre, as many large artists in that genre useit such as the Arctic
Monkeys. For example, the main character in the music video, which will be a
young boy, will be wearing clothes typical of the indie genre, and will be see
holding a guitar. The video will also feature other characters, such as young
kids and homeless people to try and emphasise the theme of the music video,
which is poverty and the effects it has on young people. The video will begin
with an establishing shot of the Manchester skyline, not only does it establish
the location of the music video, but it is also iconic to the setting. The video
will feature shots throughoutManchester city centre, to elp establish the
setting of the video. In terms of editing, the video will usea combination of
slow and fastpaced edits in order to try and stimulate a narrative, black and
white edits will also be used in parts of the music video, as they are rather
common with indie music videos. The setting of the video will be in
impoverished parts of Manchester to help establish the theme of poverty. The
video will be a mixture between a performanceand a narrative as the main
character in the music video will be miming the words to the song.
