In her extraordinary photography book, Fearless
Women, Fearless Wisdom , internationally acclaimed
        R

author and photographer Mary Ann Halpin has brought together
40 female entrepreneurs from across the country to celebrate their
courage and strength in discovering their “fearlessness” to achieve
great personal and professional success. The launch of Fearless Women,
Fearless Wisdom (July 20, 2010) will be celebrated throughout summer to
culminate a North American event in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Chicago, Toronto and more.

After the publication of her book, Fearless Women, Midlife Portraits , Mary Ann was inundated with
letters from women all over the country who wanted to experience the empowerment of their own personal
portraits. This desire prompted the idea of Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom. This fine-art coffee table book of 40
women each holding a sword of courage, reveals the stories of how they have transformed their trials into triumphs.
The book represents women who have overcome childhood trauma, physical and emotional illness, and near
financial devastation. These courageous women are mirrors and examples for us all. Their stories show us that in
order to create conscious change within, we must face our fears and walk through them.

Following each story is a Fearless Wisdom quote that imparts a heartfelt belief and a soul-inspiring gift. The back of
the book holds a dedication page for a Fearless friend, sister or mother to place their picture and share their own
Fearless experience.

The women adorned on the pages of this book will use its promotion as a vehicle to raise awareness and support for
their most impassioned cause and beloved charity. The first-ever Fearless Women Day will be celebrated August 26,
                                                                                  R

2010 – a day for women around the globe to celebrate each other's Fearless achievements and honour the Fearless
sisters that came before us and ones yet to come. On this day in the U.S., American Fearless sisters will be celebrat-
ing the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote. On this same day, women across
Canada will be encouraged to take the sword and embrace their Fearlessness, partake in a Fearless action, and cel-
ebrate the amazing women they are. More importantly, select women from all over the U.S. and Canada will be given
a Fearless Women - Susan B. Anthony Award to celebrate her Fearless contribution to the world. The ultimate goal of
the award is not only to honour select Fearless women, but also to support her dream and help her gain closer access
to her goals.

Mary Ann Halpin speaks about the book

1. How did the idea of Fearless Women begin?
                                         R

My second publication, Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits, contains compelling black and
white portraits of women holding swords who have dared to approach aging with passion and
fearlessness. My first Fearless book featured celebrities such as Joni Mitchell, Cybill Shepherd,
Erin Brockovich, and many other extraordinary women.
Continuing with the “Fearless” theme, I have served as a speaker on the “Fearless Women Panel” at eWomenNetwork
International Business Convention in Dallas 2008 and 2009. After photographing more than 130 women at the
conference, I was inspired to create Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom.

2. How were these 40 Fearless women selected?
The 40 women in the book invested their heart and soul into revealing their stories of challenges and triumphs. At
the end, each shares their personal Fearless wisdom. While they invested their own money to be in the book, each
woman did so embracing the priceless worth of discovering their Fearless. All proceeds received from front cover and
back cover investments go to the eWomenNetwork Foundation supporting not-for-profit women-owned businesses in
Canada and the U.S. For more information, visit eWomenNetworkFoundation.org.

3. What does the symbolic sword mean? Why a sword?
The sword represents courage. The sword was chosen because it was created for Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits, as
a symbol that was a through-line to hold in their portrait. This has carried over to Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom.
It resonated so much with women as a symbol of courage that I incorporated the use of the sword in Fearless Women
portraits, which gave women the opportunity to have a visual touchstone to remind them of who they truly are.

4. What is your definition of a Fearless woman?
To me, a Fearless woman embraces her sword symbolizing courage as she overcomes her fears and turns her dreams
into reality.

5. What makes this Fearless women revolution different from other similar movements?

One of the differences is that it is a historic day in the United States. August 26, 2010 marks the first-ever Fearless
Women Day celebrating the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment being ratified, which gave American women
the right to vote. Part of the word "revolution" is "evolution.” This is an acknowledgment of women evolving into being
these magnificent human beings that are more than ever contributing to the well being of citizens. As the Dalai Lama
said at the Vancouver Peace Summit: "The world would be saved by the Western woman."

6. Who are some powerful names behind the Fearless Women brand?
Erin Brockovich, Leeza Gibbons, Marilyn Tam, Linda Gray, Joni Mitchell, and Sandra Yancey; as well as the 25,000
members of eWomen Network.

Michelle Peavy: A Fearless Canadian Perspective

1. What makes you a Fearless Canadian woman?
My maiden name is L’Hirondelle. I was born in Kingston, ON and grew up in Alberta. I am
very proud to be a Canadian and decided to name myself the official Canadian ambassador
for the Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom revolution.
                        R

As I reflect back over the years, my journey has always been a fearless one. What I have learned is that you can’t
run from your fears; they will always chase you unless you face them straight on. When I learned I had terminal
cancer, for example, “giving up” seemed easier than fighting.

To be a Fearless woman is to understand the pain you have experienced and make the choice to use everything and
anything and fight for what you believe in. It is to know each breath you take should not be taken for granted. I have
and continue to face my fears, but I do so with the mission of making a difference in the lives of other women striving
to discover their Fearlessness.

2. Why should Canadians celebrate Fearless Women Day?

August 26th is a day for women around the globe to celebrate each other's Fearless achievements and honour the
Fearless sisters that came before us and ones yet to come. On this day in the U.S., our American Fearless sisters will
be celebrating the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote. On this same day,
women across Canada will be encouraged to take the sword and embrace their Fearlessness, partake in a Fearless
action, and celebrate the amazing women they are. More details about Fearless Women Day events can be found at
                                                                                         R

FearlessWomenDay.com.

3. Can you please explain your brand identity: The Final Note?
While communication through dialogue and presentation expresses Fearless through words, music elevates fearless
through song. To me, The Final Note is delivering music that moves the soul.

As The Final Note, I am the closing Fearless presenter (at conferences and conventions) where I sing to awaken the
sleeping giant inside of each audience member, leaving a lasting and Fearless foot print.

4. When people hear Michelle Peavy, what do you want them to think, know?
As Adrianne Graham of ForbesWoman noted, the fear epidemic among women is astounding and defines it as False
Evidence Appearing Real. My goal moving forward is to help women to live their life out loud and to live life in colour
with song through my Final Note. So the next time a woman stops herself from fighting a battle worth fighting or pur-
suing impossible dreams, I want her to remember she’s worth this fight, and then blare her speakers to the songs or
final notes that inspire.

The Fearle ss Wom e n Re v o l u t i o n In her extraordinary photography book, Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom , internationally acclaimed R author and photographer Mary Ann Halpin has brought together 40 female entrepreneurs from across the country to celebrate their courage and strength in discovering their “fearlessness” to achieve great personal and professional success. The launch of Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom (July 20, 2010) will be celebrated throughout summer to culminate a North American event in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Chicago, Toronto and more. After the publication of her book, Fearless Women, Midlife Portraits , Mary Ann was inundated with letters from women all over the country who wanted to experience the empowerment of their own personal portraits. This desire prompted the idea of Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom. This fine-art coffee table book of 40 women each holding a sword of courage, reveals the stories of how they have transformed their trials into triumphs. The book represents women who have overcome childhood trauma, physical and emotional illness, and near financial devastation. These courageous women are mirrors and examples for us all. Their stories show us that in order to create conscious change within, we must face our fears and walk through them. Following each story is a Fearless Wisdom quote that imparts a heartfelt belief and a soul-inspiring gift. The back of the book holds a dedication page for a Fearless friend, sister or mother to place their picture and share their own Fearless experience. The women adorned on the pages of this book will use its promotion as a vehicle to raise awareness and support for their most impassioned cause and beloved charity. The first-ever Fearless Women Day will be celebrated August 26, R 2010 – a day for women around the globe to celebrate each other's Fearless achievements and honour the Fearless sisters that came before us and ones yet to come. On this day in the U.S., American Fearless sisters will be celebrat- ing the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote. On this same day, women across Canada will be encouraged to take the sword and embrace their Fearlessness, partake in a Fearless action, and cel- ebrate the amazing women they are. More importantly, select women from all over the U.S. and Canada will be given a Fearless Women - Susan B. Anthony Award to celebrate her Fearless contribution to the world. The ultimate goal of the award is not only to honour select Fearless women, but also to support her dream and help her gain closer access to her goals. • 5. Fre quently Ask e d Q u e st i o n s Mary Ann Halpin speaks about the book 1. How did the idea of Fearless Women begin? R My second publication, Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits, contains compelling black and white portraits of women holding swords who have dared to approach aging with passion and fearlessness. My first Fearless book featured celebrities such as Joni Mitchell, Cybill Shepherd, Erin Brockovich, and many other extraordinary women. Continuing with the “Fearless” theme, I have served as a speaker on the “Fearless Women Panel” at eWomenNetwork International Business Convention in Dallas 2008 and 2009. After photographing more than 130 women at the conference, I was inspired to create Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom. 2. How were these 40 Fearless women selected? The 40 women in the book invested their heart and soul into revealing their stories of challenges and triumphs. At the end, each shares their personal Fearless wisdom. While they invested their own money to be in the book, each woman did so embracing the priceless worth of discovering their Fearless. All proceeds received from front cover and back cover investments go to the eWomenNetwork Foundation supporting not-for-profit women-owned businesses in Canada and the U.S. For more information, visit eWomenNetworkFoundation.org. 3. What does the symbolic sword mean? Why a sword? The sword represents courage. The sword was chosen because it was created for Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits, as a symbol that was a through-line to hold in their portrait. This has carried over to Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom. It resonated so much with women as a symbol of courage that I incorporated the use of the sword in Fearless Women portraits, which gave women the opportunity to have a visual touchstone to remind them of who they truly are. 4. What is your definition of a Fearless woman? To me, a Fearless woman embraces her sword symbolizing courage as she overcomes her fears and turns her dreams into reality. 5. What makes this Fearless women revolution different from other similar movements? One of the differences is that it is a historic day in the United States. August 26, 2010 marks the first-ever Fearless Women Day celebrating the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment being ratified, which gave American women the right to vote. Part of the word "revolution" is "evolution.” This is an acknowledgment of women evolving into being these magnificent human beings that are more than ever contributing to the well being of citizens. As the Dalai Lama said at the Vancouver Peace Summit: "The world would be saved by the Western woman." 6. Who are some powerful names behind the Fearless Women brand? Erin Brockovich, Leeza Gibbons, Marilyn Tam, Linda Gray, Joni Mitchell, and Sandra Yancey; as well as the 25,000 members of eWomen Network. 7. How can I find out more information? FearlessWomenBook.com, FearlessWomenDay.com, FearlessWomenMagazine.com, MaryAnnHalpin.com and MichellePeavy.com
  • 6. Fre quently Ask e d Q u e st i o n s Michelle Peavy: A Fearless Canadian Perspective 1. What makes you a Fearless Canadian woman? My maiden name is L’Hirondelle. I was born in Kingston, ON and grew up in Alberta. I am very proud to be a Canadian and decided to name myself the official Canadian ambassador for the Fearless Women, Fearless Wisdom revolution. R As I reflect back over the years, my journey has always been a fearless one. What I have learned is that you can’t run from your fears; they will always chase you unless you face them straight on. When I learned I had terminal cancer, for example, “giving up” seemed easier than fighting. To be a Fearless woman is to understand the pain you have experienced and make the choice to use everything and anything and fight for what you believe in. It is to know each breath you take should not be taken for granted. I have and continue to face my fears, but I do so with the mission of making a difference in the lives of other women striving to discover their Fearlessness. 2. Why should Canadians celebrate Fearless Women Day? August 26th is a day for women around the globe to celebrate each other's Fearless achievements and honour the Fearless sisters that came before us and ones yet to come. On this day in the U.S., our American Fearless sisters will be celebrating the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote. On this same day, women across Canada will be encouraged to take the sword and embrace their Fearlessness, partake in a Fearless action, and celebrate the amazing women they are. More details about Fearless Women Day events can be found at R FearlessWomenDay.com. 3. Can you please explain your brand identity: The Final Note? While communication through dialogue and presentation expresses Fearless through words, music elevates fearless through song. To me, The Final Note is delivering music that moves the soul. As The Final Note, I am the closing Fearless presenter (at conferences and conventions) where I sing to awaken the sleeping giant inside of each audience member, leaving a lasting and Fearless foot print. 4. When people hear Michelle Peavy, what do you want them to think, know? As Adrianne Graham of ForbesWoman noted, the fear epidemic among women is astounding and defines it as False Evidence Appearing Real. My goal moving forward is to help women to live their life out loud and to live life in colour with song through my Final Note. So the next time a woman stops herself from fighting a battle worth fighting or pur- suing impossible dreams, I want her to remember she’s worth this fight, and then blare her speakers to the songs or final notes that inspire. 5.
