A New Phenomenon And Donald Trump
The recent rise in awareness has brought the concept of income inequality to the forefront of American's minds; however, this is certainly not a new
phenomenon. The United States has struggled with income inequality since its birth 241 years ago; the much bigger issue today stands within the
mentality of greed that has developed in recent time. While income inequality has existed since the nation 's birth, the looming threat to societies
wellbeing is the emergence of a mentality of greed that has grown unbridledly in recent decades. America's capitalist economic system has made the
institution of income inequality as American as baseball, cheeseburgers, and pick–up trucks. Arguably since the 1980's and 90's, an ornery wee gremlin

Donald Trump also sees obstacles as mole hills rather than mountains but in an albeit less shrewd way than Hearst. When told that Mexico was not
willing to pay for his southern border wall, his response was "the wall just got 10 feet higher!" (source). (Insert quote about Hearst starting war here).
Hearst enjoyed the finest things in life and bought and built grand monuments to his wealth all over the world. The list is far too long to detail but
highlights include a castle on long island that F. Scott Fitzgerald used as his inspiration for Gatsby's mansion, an h–shaped mansion in Beverly Hills
that the Kennedy's vacationed in and can be seen in The Godfather, a quintuplex (5 story) penthouse apartment in New York City, and a massive
castle complex in San Simeon, California that sat on a piece of property half the size of Rhode Island overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Donald Trump
also enjoys monuments to his wealth and has a number of significant properties like high rises around the world, golf clubs, hotels, and the now
infamous Mar–a–Lago Club in Palm Beach. Much like Donald Trump, William Randolph Hearst was born into privilege. Hearst's father was a
successful mining millionaire and kickstarted his sons career by giving him the San Francisco Examiner in 1887 (source). Trump and his supporters
often herald his 'empire' by saying he built the entire thing from a one

Professional Athletes who Cheat in Sports Essay
Professional athletes are role models to the American children across the Nation. Professional athletes must follow ethical standards to play fairly in
their sport. This means that players must compete without the assistance of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids (Tynes, 2006). Yet,
professional athletes choose to cheat by taking illegal substances, which results in the death of some players and a wide variety of health problems.
The Federal Government realized that the use of anabolic steroids is a form of cheating and defrauds the players and fans of "real" competition. As a
result, for the concern of the athletes' health and concern for the ethical standards of the game played, the Anabolic Steroid Act of 1990 (ASCA) was...

Victor Conte, founder of BALCO, was under investigation when athletes began testing positive for illegal steroid substances in 2000. Due to the test
results and rumors of the athletes, the U.S Anti–Doping agency began their operation during the same year. In 2002, the Federal investigation of the
BALCO Company began. A narcotics task force received tips that professional baseball players were doping and receiving undetected illegal
performance enhancement supplements from BALCO's founder, Victor Conte. Later in 2003, a disgruntled sprint coach, Trevor Graham turned over a
sample of the drug tetrahydrogestrinone (THG) nicknamed "The Clear" to the World Anti–Doping agency. The BALCO case begins to build. By the
Fall of 2003, federal agents raid BALCO offices where HGH (human growth hormones) were found. As a result of the raid athletes were accused and
fingers were pointed. Many athletes involving baseball players Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi, and track and field athletes Marion Jones and Tim
Montgomery testified before the BALCO Grand jury. The USA track and field approved a policy called "zero tolerance" that if the ban was legal they
would include lifetime bans for first offenses on steroids, at the same time The International association of athletics federation had legal questions arise
when they tried to change its first–offense

Environmental Justice: Some Ecofeminist Worries About A Distributive Model
ABSTRACT: Environmental philosophers, policy–makers and community activists who discuss environmental justice do so almost exclusively in
terms of mainstream Western distributive models of social justice. Whether the issue is treatment of animals, human health or property, wilderness and
species preservation, pollution or environmental degradation, the prevailing and largely unchallenged view is that the issues of environmental justice
are for the most part distributive issues. I think this wholesale framing of considerations of environmental justice solely in terms of distribution is
seriously flawed. Drawing on both ecofeminist insights into the inextricable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The need for environmental justice
Whether it is trees, forests and forestry, unsanitary water, food production and agriculture, or training in environmental technologies, it is often
poor women and children, particularly women and children of color in the South (or, Southern hemisphere), who suffer disproportionately the
effects of environmental degradation. (1) Because of subordinate gender roles as forest managers, it is poor rural women and children in India
who walk farther for fuelwood and fodder (e.g., an average of ten kilometers every three or four days for an average of seven hours each time).
Because it is poor women and children who perform the water collection work in the South, it is women and children who experience
disproportionately higher health risks in the presence of unsanitary water. Each year millions of people, primarily women and children, are affected
by major illnesses acquired while drawing water. Women farmers grow at least 59 percent of the world's food, and in some places (e.g., parts of
Africa), as much as 80 percent. Yet the gender division of labor gives women unequal access to cash crops and their labor is often unpaid. And
so–called "appropriate technologies" often are inappropriate for women: Such

Succumbing to hunger and thirst on the fifth day, they killed the dog for nourishment. Two of the crewmen died on the sixth day. On the seventh, the
remaining crew reached land.
Ironically, Marion returned to the family farm healthier and in better spirits than when he had left. Wrote Peter Horry, who would later serve under
Marion: "His constitution seemed renewed, his frame commenced a second and rapid growth, while his cheeks quitting their pale, suet–colored
cast, assumed a bright and healthy olive."
Apparently, this voyage ended his obsession with the sea, for he farmed his family's plantation for the next ten years. Gradually, his brothers and sisters
married and moved away. Around 1750, his father died, leaving Marion to manage the plantation and care for his mother.
Though thethe began in 1754, it did not touch the daily lives of South Carolinians until the war's final years. At this time, Cherokees began threatening
settlers along the South Carolina border, influencing Governor William Henry Lyttelton to enlarge his military forces. Marion and his brother Gabriel
were among the Huguenot recruits. When an expedition led by Colonel Archibald Montgomerie was ambushed by Cherokees near the town of Echoe,

The Patriot ( 2000 )
The Patriot (2000) follows Benjamin Martin (Francis Marion) a widower with 7 children and veteran of the French and Indian war. He is reluctant to
join the fight against the British until Colonel William Tavington (Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton) kills Benjamin's son and burns down his house in
South Carolina. Benjamin Martin leads his militia and attacks against the British with guerilla warfare until the climax battle, where he takes revenge
for his son and kills Colonel William. What is wrong with The Patriot? It may have gotten the big picture, which was that the British taxed the colonists
unfairly and the colonists took action by forming a militia to win the war through guerilla warfare, but that's one of the few things that are historically
accurate about the film. Important things that are historically accurate are the ambushes that Benjamin Gates took part in. Attacking head to head was
not an option because the British soldiers were obviously more powerful so the militia used surprise attacks and ambushes to beat the British. Also the
character Colonel William Tavington, who was based off of the British soldier Lt. ColonelBanastre Tarleton, was probably the most hated officer in
the British army. His tactics were cowardly and evil because he would shoot the enemy after they surrendered. The film did a great job at showing how
menacing Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton really was. Nevertheless, the film was mostly inaccurate and could be considered an American version

Marion was given the rank of first lieutenant in Captain William Moultrie's company of infantry.
In June, Grant led his expedition on the same route Montgomerie had taken. Sensing another ambush at a pass near the site of Montgomerie's battle,
Grant dispatched Marion with 30 men to flush out the Cherokees. Using trees for cover, Marion's detachment cautiously advanced within range of the
Cherokees, whereupon the Indians sounded their war cry and fired. By the time the pass was secured, only nine of Marion's men were left. Grant's
column proceeded through the pass and engaged the Cherokees for several hours, until the Indians fled. Marion's capture of the pass allowed Grant to
create a path of destruction in the Cherokee lands, burning 15 Indian towns and destroying their corn crops. Finally, Chief Attakullakulla, known by
some as "Little Carpenter," surrendered.
Marion's courageous efforts in the Cherokee War did not go unnoticed. When he returned to his old lifestyle by leasing farm lands along the west
bank of the Santee River, he was accorded great respect and became a successful planter. Although he spent considerable time hunting and fishing, he
was well acquainted with details of the surrounding lands. He also had an active social life and regularly visited his brothers and neighboring

Who Is Francis Marion?
Who is Francis Marion?
Hunter Ellis
History 441: South Carolina
November 29, 2016
Who was the man behind the myth of the "Swamp Fox" and what is the legend of the general? Francis Marion was born February 26, 1732 in
Berkeley County, South Carolina to a family of plantation owners. Not much is known about his early life before he began his military career. The
only information that is known is that from the manuscripts of the men who served with him. What he is most known for are his accomplishments as a
military leader and a solider. General Tarleton of the British forces, stated, aboutFrancis Marion, that "as for this damned old fox, the devil himself
could not catch him" this statement was the beginning of his nickname the "swamp Fox". He was not just this myth of a General of the American
Revolution he was just an everyday American who just happen to be very good at his craft of being a military leader and strategist. And who's
legend is shadowed in both fact and fiction through the years of time. In the beginnings of Francis Marion's life, he was raised much like most other
children during the 1700s. Getting his first taste of the planter's life on his family plantation in Berkeley County, South Carolina. His father Gabriel

Success is sometimes a long and winding journey. Many times you need to overcome the barriers that block you and naysayers who doubt you.

a child was pretty mundane and Mccaffrey said that she "couldn't really remember much of her childhood." School though was a another matter.
Throughout her academic life up until a few years ago, her classmates used to bully her about her weight and believe it or not her personality. If you

Mist of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Mist of Avalon breaks through many stereotypes but also strengthens some in some ways. One stereotype that was torn down was that women are not
as strong as men. This is proved to be wrong when they have Morgaine fighting men and actually being victorious. This movie also breaks the
stereotype that women can't be in power. Most women in this movie hold very high positions. For example, Viviane is the high goddess ofAvalon. Also
Morgaine is her second in command. Although this movie breaks some stereotypes it also reinforces them by putting the blame on a women for not
being able to give the king an heir. Although in this case it really is her fault nobody knows this information and automatically blames her. These are
just a few of the reasons that Mist of Avalon strengthens and breaks through common stereotypes.
In Mist of Avalon Gwenhwyfar is a sympathetic character because she has so much going against her. Although she does have her own wrong
doings they are acted on out of hurt. For example, she is cursed with not being able to give the king an heir and this causes turmoil in their marriage.
Also in the end she gets even more bad things thrown her way and then repents for her sins and ends things with Lancelot. The film doesn't treat
physical beauty in a positive or negative way. It is very neutral about outer beauty compared to inner. This can be proved because Morgos was pretty
but she was an evil person and both Viviane and Morgaine weren't the most

Citizen Kane: Exposing the Truth about William Randolph Hearst
Many have called Citizen Kane the greatest cinematic achievement of all time. It is indeed a true masterpiece of acting, screen writing, and directing.
Orson Welles, its young genius director, lead actor, and a co–writer, used the best talents and techniques of the day (Bordwell 103) to tell the story of a
newspaper giant, Charles Kane, through the eyes of the people who loved and hated him. However, when it came out, it was scorned by Hollywood
and viewed only in the private theaters of RKO, the producer.

Hearst's parents came by their money through gold mines (Swanberg 5), so both Hearst and Kane were raised with "golden" spoons in their respective
mouths. Kane is unusually devoted to his mother, as shown when he turns away from his father to listen to his mother, and when he only pays heed to
his mother's answers to his questions (Citizen Kane). Hearst likewise was completely devoted to his mother. He was sheltered from the real world
by his mother and her money for most of his young life, rarely even seeing his traveling father (Swanberg 25). Also, Kane's dying word and the
name of his childhood sled, "Rosebud," (Citizen Kane) was the name of a town twenty miles east of where Hearst's parents were born and grew up
(Robinson 13). Everything from the newsreel at the start of the film on Kane's life matches Hearst's almost perfectly. Kane ran over thirty
newspapers, radios, and syndicates, had a well publicized romantic affair, tried in vain to be elected to public office, was totally and completely
careless with his money, (always expecting there would be much more coming), and built himself a pleasure palace called Xanadu, which included a
gigantic collection of statues and animals (Citizen Kane). Hearst also did all these things over the course of his life, which further served to convince
movie viewers of Welles' libelous intentions in the making of the movie. (Swanberg).

The Importance Of The Film Inception
Planning and shooting play key roles in creating a work of art through film that has meaning and can provoke emotions in an audience.
Cinematography encompasses these tasks and other factors that contribute to a film's production, ranging from styling variables like color and contrast
to the types of camera lenses used to camera positions used while filming. While a director or producer has the primary voice in determining what a film
will consist of, the cinematographer does more than any other person working on the film to mold a director's vision into reality. These individuals
have the crucial task of creating and framing every visual that will appear in a movie.
There are few cinematographers who do this in as compelling of a way as the cinematographer for the film Inception, Wally Pfister. Pfister has
worked on many notable films and has been nominated for several awards, but he won his Academy Award for BestCinematography for the 2010 film.
Despite the controversy and debate that surround the film, one can easily see the merits of the film's cinematography that earned Inception the
"Oscar." The film contains visual elements that leave the audience in awe, as it takes the viewer into a dream world that has not been explored by
many other big motion pictures. The dream sequences we observe are in every way larger than life, yet the cinematography makes them also seem
tangible to the viewer. In the scene of the dream sequence that takes place in Paris, Cobb (Leonardo

Critical Analysis Of Iris Marion Young 'Five Faces Of...
Five Faces of Oppression: Marginalization Iris Marion Young, an American political theorist, is the author of "The Five Faces of Oppression"
(1990). In this book, Young explicates the unjust effects of oppression in today's societies. By definition, oppression is described as prolonged
cruel or unjust treatment by a ruling group inflicted on another group. One of the five forms of oppression is marginalization. This type of
oppression may be the most dangerous one because it socially excludes an individual from the participation of society based on race, religion,
disability, appearance or affiliation with a particular group. I agree with Young's idea of justice, in which a person should not be treated in an
oppressive or demeaning manner, all due to the current social structure of marginalized individuals roles in society. When people think of oppression,
they think of it as a sort of tyrannical or overbearing rule of a group over another in order to gain an unjust advantage. And while there is no doubt
about it that it is true, there is another underlying meaning behind it. In today's usage, oppression can also be the systematic limitations that a social
group may experience. Although they might not seem like a big deal, it is heavily prevalent in many different settings and environments without it
being the intention of a government. In The Five Face of Oppression, Young describes the new left oppression as "the vast and deep injustices some
groups suffer as a

Citizen Hearst: A Comparison of William Randolph Hearst and Citizen Kane
Orson Welles was undoubtedly one of the most talented filmmakers of his time. Along with the innovative camerawork and advanced cinematic
techniques that made Citizen Kane a success, Welles also allowed for viewers to connect with his film by providing them with a real life example of
the main character. Citizen Kane owned a massive estate called Xanadu that was based upon Hearst's San Simeon. Kane and Hearst were also
newspaper magnates who used very similar techniques to gain readers and also operated their newspapers in a comparable manner. Finally, both

In fact, during the newsreel documenting Kane's life at the beginning of the film, the reporter declared that Xanadu contained "the loot of the world.
(Citizen Kane)." Furthermore, both men were known to use their mansions to host extravagant Hollywood parties that catered to the elite of America.
The similarities in their estates aided in illustrating the resemblance between Charles Foster Kane and William Randolph Hearst. This, in turn,
reinforced the movie's message that wealth and power are destructive to human values because viewers could refer to a real life example of the main
character. In addition to their respective manors, both Kane and Hearst were successful businessmen who were primarily recognized for their roles in
the American newspaper industry. Biographist David Narsaw claims:

media conglomerate by extending his newspaper empire horizontally into syndicated feature, photo, and wire services; magazines; newsreels; serial,

Natural Theology Was Under Deep Debate
In the 20th century the question of natural theology was under deep debate. While the enlightenment had a deep confidence in gaining knowledge of
God through observation of the natural world, this attitude was deeply criticised in both philosophy and theology. On the one hand Heidegger
criticized this project as deeply ontotheological confusing the distinction between beings and the Being of beings. Moreover as a result of this
enterprise, one was left with the philosopher's God at best, a god to which one could not praise, pray to or sacrifice. On the other hand Barth
lambasted it as denying the subjectivity of God, and submitting God to the same kind of being as humans, reducing the creator to the realm of the
created while simultaneous denying the finitude and falleness of human rationality. For Barth there could be no "point of contact" and the analogy of
being of the medieval period must be scrapped for the analogy of faith, an inbreaking from the top down miracle of grace . But while Barth claims
Natural theology as an irrelevant for revelation, Natural theology is the condition of possibility of the human side of revelation. This will be shown
through a critical examination of Barth's doctrine of revelation, an appropriation of Jean–Luc Marion's phenomenology of revelation and an exploration
of Pannenberg's theological method.
In beginning to explore the possibility for a natural theology one must overcome its most powerful opponent–the theology of Karl Barth. As

The Film Analysis Of The Movie The Patriot
The Patriot
The Patriot is known as this action packed, adventurous movie, and most americans have watched this movie despite the fact of its inaccuracies,
also depicting america as great and the british as bad. This movie takes place in 1776, this was before the declaration of independence was signed
and a idea was proposed about breaking away from the king and initiating a new nation was great but arguable. Not all the americans wanted to be
independent from Great Britain, there was separation between the rebels and the colonials ,the rebels that wanted have to freedom and the Colonials
that wanted to stay faithful to the king, america was nowhere near to united. The boston incident turned into a civil war. Later on, loyalists saw the
british military as a authorized army, therefore loyalists joining the army because they were nationalistic like the rebels. However, in the movie they
point out one loyalist because in the movie The Patriot they depict the americans in a positive light because if they stuck to true history they couldn't do
that and would make the americans look bad.
The filmmakers modified the history to put them in positive light for example they created this American hero named Benjamin Martin they depict
him to be this heroic, flawless hero but in fact he is not even a person in history he is a made up fictional character based on francis marion and made up
of other historical figures. Furthermore, they showed america united when in fact they were

Work and Self Reliance
Work and Self–Reliance
ELDER RUSELLE BALLARD Said: My travels have taken me almost everywhere in the world–most of the continent of Africa, the islands of the sea,
Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the heart of the inner cities of America. Everywhere I go, the cries of the poor ring out–often with the plea, "Please
help us." In Africa alone those cries do not come from a few; they come from tens of thousands, even millions.
The Church has been especially concerned with teaching self–reliance since 1936. when Elder Melvin J. Ballard was named general chairman of the
newly formed Welfare Committee. Elder Harold B. Lee was the first managing director, followed by ElderMarion G. Romney. Since that beginning, the

President Brigham Young Commanded us: We should build good homes and create beautiful communities.
Let the people build good houses, plant good vineyards and orchards, make good roads, build beautiful cities in which may be found magnificent
edifices for the convenience of the public, handsome streets skirted with shade trees, fountains of water, crystal streams, and every tree, shrub and
flower that will flourish in this climate, to make our mountain home a paradise and our hearts wells of gratitude to the God of Joseph, enjoying it all
with thankful hearts, saying constantly, "not mine but thy will be done, O Father" Then let us be content, and go to with our mights to make
ourselves healthy, wealthy, and beautiful, and preserve ourselves in the best possible manner, and live just as long as we can, and do all the good we
can. Every improvement that we make not only adds to our comfort but to our wealth.
President Marion G. Romney (1897–1988) taught: "Without self–reliance one cannot exercise these innate desires to serve. How can we give if there is
nothing there? Food for the hungry cannot come from empty shelves. Money to assist the needy cannot come from an empty purse. Support and
understanding cannot come from the emotionally starved. Teaching cannot come from the unlearned. And most important of all, spiritual guidance
cannot come from the spiritually weak."
We should be self–reliant in all aspect of life as

Athletes With A Natural Sense For A Sport
Many people see athletes with a natural sense for a sport without seeing their commitment as to their goal. Marion Jones, an athlete in track and field
and basketball, has exemplified that commitment makes method. During her life, she has played and accelerated in everything she has done. Whether
it'd be basketball or track and field, she is a phenomenal athlete with goals of her future. Marion Jones is an athlete with a perseverance and
determination to achieve her fullest capability. Skip Downing, who has wrote about commitments making method in his book On Course, said for a
person to fulfill a goal, they must have a commitment with no excuses and have a sincere will that will push them to get their goal. (_) Athletes have a

By Jones keeping a constant routine with her training, it can immensely help her keeping herself in a consistent condition. In her interview with
Thomas Hackett with New York Times, Jones said, she lays out her clothes for the preceding day. Jones strives to be better everyday as with
consistent training, you can only get better. With running races, your body must be ready to go as the gunshot fires, therefore only training can get her
body to go when it needs to.
Secondly, Jones has a mindset of achieving what nobody has achieved. In order for her to fulfill her goal of winning five gold medal, she must do
what nobody else does, to win. Whether it'd be a special stride she has, or a unique run she must do that, in order to win. Jones states in an article with
Mark Starr, with NewsWeek, that she strongly believes that she is given a chance to achieve something nobody has ever accomplished and she is very
confident within herself that she can do it. Downing states, .....(_). Jones stated in article with Thomas Hackett with New York Times that she aspires
to be the fastest women throughout the whole world. Hackett stated that from her seriousness and a look of determination, He knew that she was
capable of achieving that.
Thirdly, Jones can't achiever her goal if she doesn't have a sense of competitiveness to racing. jones told Starr, with NewsWeek, that she has always
had a competitive attitude when it comes to racing. Jones said that she would beat her brother and his

Analysis Of The Cradle Will Rock And William Randolph Hearst
Although Hearst denounced the corruption amongst capitalists of his own stature, regardless of his own tarnished name, a recently uncovered letter
from Berlin to Hearst proves his collusion with federal investigators commissioned by congress in the hunt for communist infiltration in Hollywood and
the entertainment industry. The letter claims that Hearst's people "have the complete assurance from [their] friends in Washington that the result of the
investigation made by them ... of the motion picture industry is available to [them] ... This should be extremely valuable" (History). Furthermore,
Hearst used his Yellow Press to push allegations of communist activity in Roosevelt created government agencies, among the accused agencies, the
Federal Theatre Project. In his attacks on Hollywood and the Federal Theatre Project, Hearst was driven by selfish and possibly personal ulterior
motives. Between the Federal Theatre Project, Hollywood, and William Randolph Hearst exists one very crucial connection, Orson Welles (Allen,
Carmichael). The "Boy Wonder" entertainer, who at 21 years old directed the groundbreaking play "The Cradle Will Rock", which criticized public
figures just like Hearst. But it isn't the production of this play that brought young Welles' ever promising career to an abrupt halt, to this William
Randolph Hearst is responsible. It was not uncommon in 1920's and 30's film and literature to allude to the ostentatious capitalist figures of the times.

Indiana Jones Movie My Favorite Movies
The Indiana Jones series is one of the most loved and hated series ever made. "The Raiders of the Lost Ark" was the first Indiana Jones movie, which
came out in 1981. "Temple of Doom" was the second Indiana Jones movie, which came out in 1984. "The Last Crusade" was the third Indiana Jones
movie, which came out in 1989. The Indiana Jones series are my favorite movies to watch. I think that the Indiana Jones movies are the best movies
ever made because it shows adventure and action, which I think is really cool.
The overall plot of the Indiana Jones trilogy is when Indiana Jones finds these amazing old artifact, someone always comes and tries to stop him from
taking it. Also the nazis are the main people that take these artifacts from Indiana Jones because they thought it would make them invincible and the
most powerful army ever. The main characters of the Indiana Jones series are Indiana Jones, Marion RavenWood, Dr. Rene Belloq, Sallah, Dr. Marcus
Brody, Short Round, Willie Scott, and Henry Jones. In the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" Indiana Jones tries to find and recover the Ark of the covenant,
but he gets stopped by the Nazis and then the Nazis open the Ark and they all get disintegrated. In the "Temple of Doom" Indiana Jones finds the
magical and mysterious stones and he tries to steal them from this "Ruler", but he gets caught and he goes through torture and finds a way to get the
stone and get out of the temple safely. In the "last Crusade" Indiana Jones searches for the

Essay on The Patriot
The Patriot, written by Robert Rodat, takes place in South Carolina and reveals a widowed father's love for his family and trying to keep them
together, despite the Revolutionary War that had begun. Trying to keep his demons from reappearing, Benjamin Martin faces his fear of his past
coming back to haunt him after serving in the French and Indian War. Martin is a South Carolina farmer who lost his wife, Elizabeth, and reluctantly
signs up to join the Continental Army after his eldest son, Gabriel joined the regulars to fight against the British. After a battle began on Martin's
plantation, Benjamin helped wounded soldiers from both sides and was approached by William Tavington, a colonel with the British. During this

He stood up to his own father and those who believed that the British should be killed not fought, and fought to the end for the cause of freedom.
Between Gabriel's dedication to the cause and Benjamin Martin's military experience, the dedication of the men fighting, the cause of freedom was
fought on all fronts. However, during the fights, many men were lost, including another of Benjamin Martin's sons, Gabriel. After Gabriel's death,
Martin's fears were solidified and vowed not to fight for anyone's causes. However, he realized that being a true patriot was the only way to honor his
son's deaths, so he fought for the cause of freedom and was truly victorious in his fights.
While The Patriot was a very successful major motion picture, characters from the movie actually mirror those of characters that were indeed real.
Colonel Tavington's character is based on the life of Lt. Col. Banastre Tarleton the subordinate of Lt. General Charles Earl Cornwallis of the British
Army. Benjamin Martin's character was based on Francis Marion (which is also now a famous hotel in historic downtown Charleston), also known as
"Swamp Fox" fought Indians. In the movie Martin and his men destroyed the Indians, however in the reality Marion and just a few of his men survived.
Not only were there differences in the characters in the movie and those of the real

Nike Marketing Strategy
Nike 's marketing strategy is an important component of the company 's success. Nike is positioned as a premium–brand, selling well–designed and
expensive products. Nike lures customers with a marketing strategy centering around a brand image which is attained by distinctive logo and the
advertising slogan: "Just do it".[40] Nike promotes its products by sponsorship agreements with celebrity athletes, professional teams and college
athletic teams. However, Nike 's marketing mix contains many elements besides promotion. These are summarised below.
Advertising
In 1982, Nike aired its first national television ads, created by newly formed ad agency Wieden+Kennedy, during the New York Marathon. This was

Sponsorship
Niketown at Oxford Street, London
Main article: Nike sponsorships
Nike pays top athletes in many different sports to use their products and promote/advertise their technology and design.
Nike 's first professional athlete endorser was Romanian tennis player Ilie NДѓstase, and the company 's first track endorser was distance running
legend Steve Prefontaine. Prefontaine was the prized pupil of the company 's co–founder Bill Bowerman while he coached at the University of Oregon.
Today, the Steve Prefontaine Building is named in his honor at Nike 's corporate headquarters.
Besides Prefontaine, Nike has sponsored many other successful track & field athletes over the years such as Carl Lewis, Jackie Joyner–Kersee
and Sebastian Coe. However, it was the signing of basketball player Michael Jordan in 1984, with his subsequent promotion of Nike over the course of
his storied career with Spike Lee as Mars Blackmon, that proved to be one of the biggest boosts to Nike 's publicity and sales.
During the past 20 years especially, Nike has been one of the major clothing/footwear sponsors for leading tennis players. Some of the more successful
tennis players currently or formerly sponsored by Nike include: James Blake, Jim Courier, Roger Federer, Lleyton Hewitt, Juan MartГn del Potro,

The Women 's Winner Of The Wimbledon Championship
Success is sometimes a long and winding journey. Many times you need to overcome the barriers that block you and naysayers who doubt you.
Sometimes you need to fight though your own self–doubts to achieve success in your life.
Marion Bartoli, the women 's winner of the Wimbledon Championship, had to take a long and winding journey to overcome many barriers, naysayers
and self–doubts to achieve to reach the pinnacle of the professional tennis world and become a champion. Whether you follow or play tennis or not,
the following are seven secrets to achieving more success can be applied to your life:
1. Believe in Success – Marion, from the age of six years old, believed that she would win the Wimbledon championship. Because of this unwavering
belief, she developed the attitude that she would someday win the tournament. She developed powerful goals, developed a detailed action plan to
accomplish her goals, and stayed focused on achieving those goals. Once your belief is in place, you will develop the persistence to overcome many
obstacles on your success journey.
What goals do you want to achieve? What steps will you take to achieve your goals? When will you start?
2.Visualize Your Success– Marion would visualize herself winning the Wimbledon Championship. She would visualize every detail of the
championship: what the crowds would look like, the sounds of the crowd, and the smell of the foods. Marion would visualize what it would look like
for her to dominate her opponents.

Title IX: Gender Equality In The United States
Title IX Research Paper Equality is something that many Americans have been striving for since the country was founded, however, coming by it has
not always been easy. The passing of many different laws, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, has allowed us to come closer to finding a common
ground for equal opportunities in all areas including employment and education, but we were still not there. This, however, sparked a revolution most
notably in the idea of gender equality and the women's rights campaign. After the passing of Title IX in 1972, the landscape of gender equality in the
United States changed drastically, including its impact on women in sport. Although not directly meant to impact sports, Title IX has made a huge

More than 30 years later developments are continuing to be made. Women have begun to dominate many different sports including aerobic exercises,
kickboxing, iceskating, swimming, and volleyball. This gains have not only been seen at the recreational level, but also at the high school, collegiate
level and even Olympic level. This rise has created great interest in female sports and has increased popularity. Sports like women's tennis and
basketball have been driving forces of the success, thanks to athletes like Venus and Serena Williams and the UCONN and University of Tennessee
woman's basketball programs (Woods, 228–229). With all that being said, "there's been real growth in the number of women who participate in
sports, receive scholarships, and benefit from increased budgets. There are more opportunities to compete at elite levels through competitions like the
Olympics, World Championships and professional leagues. Even more importantly, we know that playing sports makes women healthier. They're less
likely to smoke, drink, use drugs and experience unwanted pregnancies. Studies also link sports participation to reduced incidences of breast cancer
and osteoporosis later in life. These health benefits for women and society alone should be reason to keep Title IX strong." Not only do the benefits of
sport give women and equal right to participate, but they

Farmers of the late 1800's: Changing the Shape of American...
The period between 1870 and 1900 was a time to change politics. The country was for once free from war and was united as one nation. However,
as these decades passed by, the American farmer found it harder to live comfortably. Crops such as cotton and wheat, once the cash crop of
agriculture, were selling at prices so low that it was nearly impossible for farmers to make a profit. Improvements in transportation allowed larger
competitors to sell more easily and more cheaply, making it harder for American yeoman farmers to sell their crops. Finally, years of drought in the
Midwest and the fall of business in the 1890s devastated the farming community. Most notably, thePopulist Party arose to fight what farmers saw as the

Beginning in 1871, several states passed laws controlling railroad freight. The railroads fought the Granger Laws, in federal court, where they were
ruled unconstitutional. The railroads regularly used rebates and drawbacks to help win the business of large shippers, and made up this loss in profit
by increasing the cost to smaller shippers such as farmers. As a result, many farmers, already hurt by the depression in agriculture, were ruined. These
farmers were hurt by the unfair practices of the railroad enterprise.
Despite the flushed predictions of prosperity that had lured new settlers to the plains, the reality was more difficult. The farmers claimed that they
did not have enough land, money, and transportation (Doc C). The farmers went into in a never ending cycle if they did not have a good harvest.
As Booker Washington explains the farmers had no money so they had to borrow money from the banks which charged 12 to 30 percent interest.
The interest the farmers were hit with was nearly impossible to repay so they had to mortgage everything and if the mortgage wasn't paid the land
was foreclosure which led the yeomen to become tenant farmers (Doc B). With periods of drought growing good crops was hard. Leading Economic
Sectors shows how the farmers predicament of not being able to make a very

Interruptus: A Paper Reshowing Young and Fishmanв
Ђ™s...
To further strengthen Iris Marion Young and Pamela Fishman's ideas regarding the tendency of most men to interrupt women during verbal
discussions, I conducted a week–long study (from December 9 to December 14, 2013) in my six other classes (namely Theology 121, Leadership and
Strategies 10, Economics 102, Accounting 30, Filipino 14, and Law 22), which consist of mixed male and female pupils. Before starting the experiment,
I considered a few questions that I wanted to answer: Would males recite more often than females? Would males interrupt females during the latter's
recitation? Would males recite more often if their teacher is also a male?
During the experiment proper itself, I used participant observation–I was still reciting whilst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I divided the total recitation points tallied by the total recitation opportunities and obtained the recitation frequency for each day. The data in the table
are already the averaged values (sum of all the values, then divided by six) since this experiment was done six days.
In tallying the total interruption instances, I considered acts such as verbal cutting off sentences, rising of students' hands while another student was
still speaking, and expression of negative reactions as disruptive to the speaker. Student–teacher interruption instances were also included in the tally.
As for the total interruption opportunities, I also established a fixed value (50 instances) to make the experimentation and computation easier. Any of
the classes did not attain the 50 instances of total recitation and interruption. As seen in the table, males recited more often than women in Theology,
Leadership and Strategy, and Filipino. In such cases, I observed that men were the first ones to raise their hands to recite, yet they just gave brief
answers with concise explanation most of the time.
On the other hand, women recited more often than men in Economics, Accounting, and Law.
In comparison to how men recited, women were almost always the ones who reluctantly raised their hands to speak, yet when called, they were willing
to expound further on their short answers. The table clearly shows that the frequency of men's interrupting women during recitations

A New Phenomenon And Donald Trump

  • 1. A New Phenomenon And Donald Trump The recent rise in awareness has brought the concept of income inequality to the forefront of American's minds; however, this is certainly not a new phenomenon. The United States has struggled with income inequality since its birth 241 years ago; the much bigger issue today stands within the mentality of greed that has developed in recent time. While income inequality has existed since the nation 's birth, the looming threat to societies wellbeing is the emergence of a mentality of greed that has grown unbridledly in recent decades. America's capitalist economic system has made the institution of income inequality as American as baseball, cheeseburgers, and pick–up trucks. Arguably since the 1980's and 90's, an ornery wee gremlin dubbed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Donald Trump also sees obstacles as mole hills rather than mountains but in an albeit less shrewd way than Hearst. When told that Mexico was not willing to pay for his southern border wall, his response was "the wall just got 10 feet higher!" (source). (Insert quote about Hearst starting war here). Hearst enjoyed the finest things in life and bought and built grand monuments to his wealth all over the world. The list is far too long to detail but highlights include a castle on long island that F. Scott Fitzgerald used as his inspiration for Gatsby's mansion, an h–shaped mansion in Beverly Hills that the Kennedy's vacationed in and can be seen in The Godfather, a quintuplex (5 story) penthouse apartment in New York City, and a massive castle complex in San Simeon, California that sat on a piece of property half the size of Rhode Island overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Donald Trump also enjoys monuments to his wealth and has a number of significant properties like high rises around the world, golf clubs, hotels, and the now infamous Mar–a–Lago Club in Palm Beach. Much like Donald Trump, William Randolph Hearst was born into privilege. Hearst's father was a successful mining millionaire and kickstarted his sons career by giving him the San Francisco Examiner in 1887 (source). • 2. Professional Athletes who Cheat in Sports Essay Professional athletes are role models to the American children across the Nation. Professional athletes must follow ethical standards to play fairly in their sport. This means that players must compete without the assistance of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids (Tynes, 2006). Yet, professional athletes choose to cheat by taking illegal substances, which results in the death of some players and a wide variety of health problems. The Federal Government realized that the use of anabolic steroids is a form of cheating and defrauds the players and fans of "real" competition. As a result, for the concern of the athletes' health and concern for the ethical standards of the game played, the Anabolic Steroid Act of 1990 (ASCA) was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Victor Conte, founder of BALCO, was under investigation when athletes began testing positive for illegal steroid substances in 2000. Due to the test results and rumors of the athletes, the U.S Anti–Doping agency began their operation during the same year. In 2002, the Federal investigation of the BALCO Company began. A narcotics task force received tips that professional baseball players were doping and receiving undetected illegal performance enhancement supplements from BALCO's founder, Victor Conte. Later in 2003, a disgruntled sprint coach, Trevor Graham turned over a sample of the drug tetrahydrogestrinone (THG) nicknamed "The Clear" to the World Anti–Doping agency. The BALCO case begins to build. By the Fall of 2003, federal agents raid BALCO offices where HGH (human growth hormones) were found. As a result of the raid athletes were accused and fingers were pointed. Many athletes involving baseball players Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi, and track and field athletes Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery testified before the BALCO Grand jury. The USA track and field approved a policy called "zero tolerance" that if the ban was legal they would include lifetime bans for first offenses on steroids, at the same time The International association of athletics federation had legal questions arise when they tried to change its first–offense ... Environmental Justice: Some Ecofeminist Worries About A Distributive Model ABSTRACT: Environmental philosophers, policy–makers and community activists who discuss environmental justice do so almost exclusively in terms of mainstream Western distributive models of social justice. Whether the issue is treatment of animals, human health or property, wilderness and species preservation, pollution or environmental degradation, the prevailing and largely unchallenged view is that the issues of environmental justice are for the most part distributive issues. I think this wholesale framing of considerations of environmental justice solely in terms of distribution is seriously flawed. Drawing on both ecofeminist insights into the inextricable ... (1) Because of subordinate gender roles as forest managers, it is poor rural women and children in India who walk farther for fuelwood and fodder (e.g., an average of ten kilometers every three or four days for an average of seven hours each time). Because it is poor women and children who perform the water collection work in the South, it is women and children who experience disproportionately higher health risks in the presence of unsanitary water. Each year millions of people, primarily women and children, are affected by major illnesses acquired while drawing water. Women farmers grow at least 59 percent of the world's food, and in some places (e.g., parts of Africa), as much as 80 percent. He is reluctant to join the fight against the British until Colonel William Tavington (Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton) kills Benjamin's son and burns down his house in South Carolina. Benjamin Martin leads his militia and attacks against the British with guerilla warfare until the climax battle, where he takes revenge for his son and kills Colonel William. What is wrong with The Patriot? It may have gotten the big picture, which was that the British taxed the colonists unfairly and the colonists took action by forming a militia to win the war through guerilla warfare, but that's one of the few things that are historically accurate about the film. Important things that are historically accurate are the ambushes that Benjamin Gates took part in. Attacking head to head was not an option because the British soldiers were obviously more powerful so the militia used surprise attacks and ambushes to beat the British. Also the character Colonel William Tavington, who was based off of the British soldier Lt. ColonelBanastre Tarleton, was probably the most hated officer in the British army. His tactics were cowardly and evil because he would shoot the enemy after they surrendered. The film did a great job at showing how menacing Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton really was. • 15. Mist of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley Mist of Avalon breaks through many stereotypes but also strengthens some in some ways. One stereotype that was torn down was that women are not as strong as men. This is proved to be wrong when they have Morgaine fighting men and actually being victorious. This movie also breaks the stereotype that women can't be in power. Most women in this movie hold very high positions. For example, Viviane is the high goddess ofAvalon. Also Morgaine is her second in command. Although this movie breaks some stereotypes it also reinforces them by putting the blame on a women for not being able to give the king an heir. Although in this case it really is her fault nobody knows this information and automatically blames her. These are just a few of the reasons that Mist of Avalon strengthens and breaks through common stereotypes. In Mist of Avalon Gwenhwyfar is a sympathetic character because she has so much going against her. Although she does have her own wrong doings they are acted on out of hurt. For example, she is cursed with not being able to give the king an heir and this causes turmoil in their marriage. Also in the end she gets even more bad things thrown her way and then repents for her sins and ends things with Lancelot. The film doesn't treat physical beauty in a positive or negative way. Hearst likewise was completely devoted to his mother. He was sheltered from the real world by his mother and her money for most of his young life, rarely even seeing his traveling father (Swanberg 25). • 17. The Importance Of The Film Inception Planning and shooting play key roles in creating a work of art through film that has meaning and can provoke emotions in an audience. Cinematography encompasses these tasks and other factors that contribute to a film's production, ranging from styling variables like color and contrast to the types of camera lenses used to camera positions used while filming. While a director or producer has the primary voice in determining what a film will consist of, the cinematographer does more than any other person working on the film to mold a director's vision into reality. These individuals have the crucial task of creating and framing every visual that will appear in a movie. There are few cinematographers who do this in as compelling of a way as the cinematographer for the film Inception, Wally Pfister. Pfister has worked on many notable films and has been nominated for several awards, but he won his Academy Award for BestCinematography for the 2010 film. Despite the controversy and debate that surround the film, one can easily see the merits of the film's cinematography that earned Inception the "Oscar." The film contains visual elements that leave the audience in awe, as it takes the viewer into a dream world that has not been explored by many other big motion pictures. • 18. Critical Analysis Of Iris Marion Young 'Five Faces Of... Five Faces of Oppression: Marginalization Iris Marion Young, an American political theorist, is the author of "The Five Faces of Oppression" (1990). In this book, Young explicates the unjust effects of oppression in today's societies. By definition, oppression is described as prolonged cruel or unjust treatment by a ruling group inflicted on another group. One of the five forms of oppression is marginalization. This type of oppression may be the most dangerous one because it socially excludes an individual from the participation of society based on race, religion, disability, appearance or affiliation with a particular group. I agree with Young's idea of justice, in which a person should not be treated in an oppressive or demeaning manner, all due to the current social structure of marginalized individuals roles in society. When people think of oppression, they think of it as a sort of tyrannical or overbearing rule of a group over another in order to gain an unjust advantage. And while there is no doubt about it that it is true, there is another underlying meaning behind it. In today's usage, oppression can also be the systematic limitations that a social group may experience. Although they might not seem like a big deal, it is heavily prevalent in many different settings and environments without it being the intention of a government. In The Five Face of Oppression, Young describes the new left oppression as "the vast and deep injustices some groups suffer as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The similarities in their estates aided in illustrating the resemblance between Charles Foster Kane and William Randolph Hearst. • 20. Natural Theology Was Under Deep Debate In the 20th century the question of natural theology was under deep debate. While the enlightenment had a deep confidence in gaining knowledge of God through observation of the natural world, this attitude was deeply criticised in both philosophy and theology. On the one hand Heidegger criticized this project as deeply ontotheological confusing the distinction between beings and the Being of beings. Moreover as a result of this enterprise, one was left with the philosopher's God at best, a god to which one could not praise, pray to or sacrifice. On the other hand Barth lambasted it as denying the subjectivity of God, and submitting God to the same kind of being as humans, reducing the creator to the realm of the created while simultaneous denying the finitude and falleness of human rationality. For Barth there could be no "point of contact" and the analogy of being of the medieval period must be scrapped for the analogy of faith, an inbreaking from the top down miracle of grace . But while Barth claims Natural theology as an irrelevant for revelation, Natural theology is the condition of possibility of the human side of revelation. My little princess, you are the lighthouse of hope above the dark ocean of hardship; beside, you are my admired girl who taught me how to get through the plight and predicament on myself during my childhood. Your unfettered imaginations, positive attitudes, and mighty adversity quotient all are lessons enlightened me so much till now. Therefore, I usually call you "a butterfly against flowing wind", that a pretty and seemingly weak butterfly with incredible power. To speak specifically, Sara, you have an unlimited and unfettered visions wherever you are; also, you always keep your sunny, positive outlooks whatever you are. And, I love all your imaginations whenever I am. Without a princess suit, or the crown, you are a special one in the school. More than a so–called princess, you are a real princess cause you have a powerful heart. You knew the hardship, or exclusion from the peer, but you never thought they are the most relentless enemies in your life; you even felt the sorrow of losing your dear papa, however you never considered that would beat you; then you suffered the falling difference from a popular girl at school to a unfed worker, however you never forgot you were a princess. I love your speaking: "Whatever comes cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed ... The Film Analysis Of The Movie The Patriot The Patriot The Patriot is known as this action packed, adventurous movie, and most americans have watched this movie despite the fact of its inaccuracies, also depicting america as great and the british as bad. This movie takes place in 1776, this was before the declaration of independence was signed and a idea was proposed about breaking away from the king and initiating a new nation was great but arguable. Not all the americans wanted to be independent from Great Britain, there was separation between the rebels and the colonials ,the rebels that wanted have to freedom and the Colonials that wanted to stay faithful to the king, america was nowhere near to united. The boston incident turned into a civil war. Later on, loyalists saw the british military as a authorized army, therefore loyalists joining the army because they were nationalistic like the rebels. However, in the movie they point out one loyalist because in the movie The Patriot they depict the americans in a positive light because if they stuck to true history they couldn't do that and would make the americans look bad. The filmmakers modified the history to put them in positive light for example they created this American hero named Benjamin Martin they depict him to be this heroic, flawless hero but in fact he is not even a person in history he is a made up fictional character based on francis marion and made up of other historical figures. Furthermore, they showed america united when in fact they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Work and Self Reliance Work and Self–Reliance ELDER RUSELLE BALLARD Said: My travels have taken me almost everywhere in the world–most of the continent of Africa, the islands of the sea, Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the heart of the inner cities of America. The letter claims that Hearst's people "have the complete assurance from [their] friends in Washington that the result of the investigation made by them ... of the motion picture industry is available to [them] ... The passing of many different laws, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, has allowed us to come closer to finding a common ground for equal opportunities in all areas including employment and education, but we were still not there. This, however, sparked a revolution most notably in the idea of gender equality and the women's rights campaign. • 31. Farmers of the late 1800's: Changing the Shape of American... The period between 1870 and 1900 was a time to change politics. The country was for once free from war and was united as one nation. However, as these decades passed by, the American farmer found it harder to live comfortably. Crops such as cotton and wheat, once the cash crop of agriculture, were selling at prices so low that it was nearly impossible for farmers to make a profit. Improvements in transportation allowed larger competitors to sell more easily and more cheaply, making it harder for American yeoman farmers to sell their crops. Finally, years of drought in the Midwest and the fall of business in the 1890s devastated the farming community. Most notably, thePopulist Party arose to fight what farmers saw as the issues affecting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beginning in 1871, several states passed laws controlling railroad freight. The railroads fought the Granger Laws, in federal court, where they were ruled unconstitutional. The railroads regularly used rebates and drawbacks to help win the business of large shippers, and made up this loss in profit by increasing the cost to smaller shippers such as farmers. As a result, many farmers, already hurt by the depression in agriculture, were ruined. These farmers were hurt by the unfair practices of the railroad enterprise. Despite the flushed predictions of prosperity that had lured new settlers to the plains, the reality was more difficult. The farmers claimed that they did not have enough land, money, and transportation (Doc C). The farmers went into in a never ending cycle if they did not have a good harvest. As Booker Washington explains the farmers had no money so they had to borrow money from the banks which charged 12 to 30 percent interest. The interest the farmers were hit with was nearly impossible to repay so they had to mortgage everything and if the mortgage wasn't paid the land was foreclosure which led the yeomen to become tenant farmers (Doc B). With periods of drought growing good crops was hard. Leading Economic Sectors shows how the farmers predicament of not being able to make a very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before starting the experiment, I considered a few questions that I wanted to answer: Would males recite more often than females? Would males interrupt females during the latter's recitation? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I divided the total recitation points tallied by the total recitation opportunities and obtained the recitation frequency for each day. The data in the table are already the averaged values (sum of all the values, then divided by six) since this experiment was done six days. In tallying the total interruption instances, I considered acts such as verbal cutting off sentences, rising of students' hands while another student was still speaking, and expression of negative reactions as disruptive to the speaker. Student–teacher interruption instances were also included in the tally. As for the total interruption opportunities, I also established a fixed value (50 instances) to make the experimentation and computation easier. Any of the classes did not attain the 50 instances of total recitation and interruption. As seen in the table, males recited more often than women in Theology, Leadership and Strategy, and Filipino. In such cases, I observed that men were the first ones to raise their hands to recite, yet they just gave brief answers with concise explanation most of the time. On the other hand, women recited more often than men in Economics, Accounting, and Law. In comparison to how men recited, women were almost always the ones who reluctantly raised their hands to speak, yet when called, they were willing to expound further on their short answers.
