3. Location
• New York City is located on the east coast of the United States, at the mouth
of the Hudson River and facing the Atlantic Ocean. Its construction is
mostly located on the islands of Staten Island, Manhattan and West Long
Island.
4. Population
• A young country born 1776. The flag tells the story. The 13 red and white
stripes represent the first 13 states.
The 50 white stars on a blue background correspond to the current 50 states.
5. LANGUAGE
• English is the official language of New York, with Spanish being the second
language with more than two million Spanish speakers. In addition, Spanish
is the language preferred by New York students as a second language. You
can defend yourself perfectly for the city only with the use of Spanish.
6. CURRENCY
• In the United States the official currency is the US dollar (symbol $), which
equals 100 cents (symbol ¢). There are coins and bills of different values.
Coins include: 1 penny, 5 cents (nickel), 10 cents (dime), 25 cents (quarter)
and 50 cents (half dollar).
7. WEATHER
• New York has a humid continental climate, the result of constant winds that
bring air from the interior of the American continent. New York has cold
winters, but the location of the city keeps temperatures a little warmer than
in the interior regions.
