Immigration is one hot topic in today's conversation and society. Many think that immigrants coming to America are taking many jobs away from who
need them. Some also think that there are jobs being taken away are not ones that Americans would not perform due to the horrible working
conditions, low pay, and lack of important medical coverage. The immigration issue has come to a point where the United States must make a decision
to spend a lot of money to curtail the amount of immigrants coming here.
Immigrants are not necessarily taking jobs away from the hard American worker. The work occupations that the immigrants take are illegal for any
legal (licensed) employer to employ any American worker. The typical job sites that would be including but not limited to: unsanitary working
conditions, dangerous equipment without proper safety precautions, extremely long working days, and less than minimum wage for work rendered.
There is not one citizen in this country that would stand for such an outrageous environment to work in or work for a company that allows it to
happen. Many citizens would go directly to an inspection board to have the factory and/or plant evaluated to see if the factory could pass any sort of
inspection for the welfare of the workers. Hence, the factory/plant would be closed down and there would be even fewer jobs for Americans.

Astrid Silva's parents brought her to America when she was four–years–old. Her father worked as a landscaper while her mother cleaned people's
homes, and she learned English by reading newspapers and watching PBS so that she could keep up with her peers. Although she is undocumented, she
took advantage of the wonderful academic opportunities offered to her and completed three college degrees.
"Welcome to the capitalist system," Alex Alvarez, a Cuban American, warned future immigrants. "Each one of you is responsible for the money you
have in your pocket. The Government is not responsible for whether you eat, or whether you're poor or rich. The Government does not guarantee you

Immigration laws have changed throughout the centuries. During the 1900's there was a literacy test. It tested people's ability to read and write it also
served as a prerequisite, in which potential citizens were chosen to vote and serve in the armed forces. The literacy tests were a way in which the

literacy test was not the only thing taken into consideration. An issue with the central focus of the literacy test is that it doesn't gear its focus to what is
important such as the person's criminal background. A question that remains unanswered to me by this editorial is, how did this literacy test protect or
benefit the United States? The person's literacy skills shouldn't be the main qualification to the path to becoming an American citizen. I strongly

During our most recent Presidential election, Donald Trump brought up the topic of illegal immigration in most of his debates. Stating that he would
build a wall to separate Mexico and the United States because of his belief that immigration is hurting our society. Many of his voters also believe this
as the truth. Carrying the idea that illegal immigration lessens the economy, burdens our Government institution and is unfair to those who came to
America legally. However, undocumented immigrants carry much more positive affirmations than negative ones for the United States.
The United States economy was originally built on the backs of immigrants. In today's economy, illegal immigrants build a great foundation to help

Immigration is a hot social and political topic but for some individuals, it is a very serious topic that greatly impacts their life and is a key factor
contributing to one's self–identity. For this interview project, I chose to interview my stepmom, Francis, who identifies as part of the 1.5 generation
because she immigrated to the United States from the Philippines when she was four or five which was in 1972 or 1973. In the 70s you had to do an
application to get approved to go to the U.S. and it took 5–7 years to get approved. Her dad was an accountant and went to the U.S. first and was issued
a Green Card and went to Hawaii. Each individual of her family had to be petitioned to go to the U.S. and she has 7 siblings, so 8 of them total. Her
oldest brother Joe went first after their father. It was pretty much you got your ticket and left because you didn't know if you would ever have the
opportunity to go some other time. Her mom received her Green Card sometime after that but could not leave her children so it was in the next wave
she left for the United States. In the next wave, the government randomly picked four of the kid's names and Francis was one of the four picked so

In the past 10–15 years, the world has become more globalized with a higher degree of relevance. As people have been moving since time began, the
economy continues to improve when the local economy is strong enough to accommodate the new influx of people and dropping when it is weaker. In

This paper will examine the problem of Immigration and Immigration Law. I will first discuss what Immigration Law is and how it works, then I will
define the number one problem of immigration laws, "illegal immigration" and why it's so important to follow procedures. It will also address the

After the horrific events of 9/11, the urgency for national security and amounts of anti–terrorist perceptions has increased. In fact, the national security
of a country/state is deemed to be more valuable than the safety of people in desperate need of refuge. Moreover, the border is considered to be

Abstract
In this paper, I decided to analyze the immigration policy. The immigration policies have had a deep history. The policies have been twisted, in the
long run, to meet the demands of the time. However, most of the times, the policies have been unfair especially in regard to the immigrants. The
overview contains a rich history of the policy progression and advancements in the immigration sector. In this paper, I decided to extrapolate on some
few contemporary issues that are as a result of the immigration policies and laws. One of the contentious issues is the Visa policy. This is a system that
is widely used by the US government. Though formulated with a good purpose, the formulation did not cater for everything that is associated with
immigration. For instance, the immigrants who are on transit for employment are not selected based on the employment demand in the market, hence,
they end up being stranded and thus are forced to accept low–paying jobs with poor working conditions. The solution to this is also discussed in the
paper. I have also discussed on the open door policy and its implications which include overpopulation. Overpopulation on its part has directly affected

Multitudes of people every year try to illegally cross the border between Mexico and the United States. They do this in the hope that if they become
citizens, they will gain the freedom and opportunities Americans have. This is what Turcios' family was aiming for. This family originates from the
Honduran countryside, this family had minimal paying jobs, so they saved up enough money to be illegally smuggled into the US border in 1994.
