This PowerPoint helps students to consider the concept of infinity.
Bendigo Dance Group
1.
2. Tips you will need to know
B.D.E stands for Bendigo Dance Eisteddfod.
Comp is short for competition.
A solo is doing a dance by yourself on stage.
A duo is when you and someone else do a dance
together.
A trio is three people do a dance together.
U6 means all the people under 6 years old are in a
troupe together same with U8 U10 U13 U16
3. Who started the B.D.E?
The B.D.E was first asked to form in December 2002
by Some of the dance schools in Bendigo. They all
wanted a Bendigo comp, including my dance school
Ann Marree dancers was one of the ones to ask . The
committee was then five people and now it is a group of
seven people. It was and still is a not-for-profit
organisation.
4. When it started
In 2002 the B.D.E was asked to form. The first comp was
held in 2003( a year later). That included all thing like
solos, duos, trios and troupes.
5. How do they organise a comp
like this
A lot of hard work and care goes in to something like this all
the thing you need to have is
a program
People and dance schools entering
A website or somewhere people can sign up
A judge(s) or adjudicator(s)
A place to have the comp
In the B.D.E they start planning next years on as soon as one
is over. You may not think this but it costs just over $30,000
to run a 13 day comp!
6. How can you Enter
You have to be taught a dance /routine to enter in the
comp. If you have got a dance you do in a solo, duo or
trio you have to fill out an entry form. Itwill ask what
level you are in, what type of dance you are doing and
what your name is, the level will ether be U6 U8 U10
U13 U16 or open/senior/ over 16. All the types of
dances you can do are Jazz, Hip Hop, neo, classical, tap,
song and tap and song and dance. If you are in a troupe
your teacher will enter you and your troupe.
7. What happened last year?
(2011)
Last year the comp went for 13 days and there were
1440 items entered (solos, duos, trio and troupes). Each
year they have someone that takes photos of the
dancers when they finish. Last year it was: Sean Walsh.
Someone (G & J video productions) also videoed the
comp but 13 days was to much to film so you had to
request which one you wanted to get filmed.
8. Their goal
The B.D.E goal is to to create an eisteddfod that
everyone enjoys, likes and looks forward to each year. A
friendly, well run eisteddfod that will grow in
reputation.
9. Sponsors
A lot of sponsors help to put a performance or comp on like
this, some of the B.D.E sponsors from last year were
① Homestead motor inn
② Bolton's we mean business
③ Arts victoria
④ City of greater Bendigo
⑤ State government victoria
⑥ Great ides awards and gifts
⑦ Bendigo advertiser
And many more.
Most of these people sponsored a section.
