 We were able to hose a song of any genre, and
create our own music video for it. Then we also
had to create a CD Digipak and a magazine
advertisement.
 Our chosen sound for our additional Portfolio was
Queen’s ‘I want to Break free’
 We started with different forms of research so we were
able to understand the different conventions which are
showed.
 For this we had to us the intent to research previous
artists and watch their videos to ensure we understood
these.
 Pop-Rock have a target audience of young
teenagers/adults, with both genres. This is because they
sell their performance to tell narratives as this particular
audience can relate to these. This is the reason why we
decided to create a performance based video which
helped us break the stereotypes which have been
created in todays modern society.
 Most videos icnded close ups of the
main artists face as this is usede to sell
themselves as a brand as we;l as teling a
story.
 The narrative of a video is a story which
can happen in everyday life in order for
them
 He stated that music videos demonstrate particular genres
through different features, this is because most videos has a
link between the lyrics and footage. It can either Illustrate,
Amplify, Contradict, or be a disjuncture.
 The demands of record companies wanting particular
camera shots to show the artist as a brand. Meaning
themselves sell records and not the lyrics of the song. They
use motifs which recur across different pieces of their work,
such as Digipak etc.
 They use the notion of looking as this is used as a voyeuristic
treatments of particular character.
 Possible chance of different intersexual references.
