Wally shares what lifeguards and swim instructors do to keep pool visitors safe
1. Wally was chosen amongst the other billion
water droplets from the UC Pool to tell you
all about the neat place he comes from.
He is super excited!!
Hey Gorloks! Wally
2.
3. Aside from my family, only humans are allowed in
the water. And that’s a good thing too.
My crazy uncle swears that he saw a shark once.
But it was just a movie night when the humans
were watching Jaws. That was pretty cool!
Did you know that these same
humans label themselves as
Pool Lifeguards?
4. I guess they’re kind of cool.
Here are some of the things they do:
Report to work on time in uniform & wearing
nametag.
Attend all the exciting in-service and staff
meetings.
Enforce all pool policies and help our customers
understand why these policies are in place.
Guard the safety of each human using my home
(the facility).
Maintain swimming skills to preform rescues.
Be easy to contact and respond
in a timely manner. The faster, the better.
Maintain a positive, welcoming

when lifeguards are unavailable.
Creates the documents and
policy manuals for effective
operations.

6. Did you know that sometimes the little
humans gather in packs and learn how to
swim in the water with my family?
Yeah. They call this swim lessons.
Some of them are adorably cute.
Makes me want to have a little
droplet of my own.
Maybe one day..
7. ____________________________Here’s a little about how it works:
They provide swim lessons
for ages 4 and up
Day or evening sessions.
There are 5 different levels of
instruction; starting at
beginner and working their
way up to advanced.
Beginner lessons help big
and little humans become
comfortable with the water.
Advanced lessons help with
all strokes; technique and
improving their endurance.
8. The pack leader of all these little human
groups is called the Swim Lesson Supervisor.
Here are a few things this person does:
Welcomes all lesson participants
and helps them find their
instructors.

Next time you’re in the neighborhood,
check out the pool and..
