1. MBAF PROMOTES ERBIN RAMIREZ TO PRINCIPAL
MIAMI – July 13, 2011 – Erbin Ramirez, CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in the Audit
Department at nationally recognized public accounting firm Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra LLC
(MBAF), has been promoted to principal. Based in MBAF’s Miami office, Ramirez previously
served as a director in the same department. The announcement was made by Chairman and
CEO of MBAF Tony Argiz.
As a principal, his responsibilities include leading the International Financial Reporting Standards
(IFRS) engagement efforts, co-managing the broker dealer division in the Financial Institutions
practice, servicing middle market companies and supervising staff in audit preparation.
“Erbin’s drive and market insight make him a valuable asset to the firm and those who work with
him,” said Argiz. “MBAF promotes and hires individuals that have a wealth of industry knowledge to
produce the best results for our clients.”
Ramirez has been in the public accounting practice since 2000. For the past four years, he worked
on IFRS audit engagements and has provided business advisory services to companies seeking to
transition to IFRS reporting. Ramirez also has healthcare experience dealing with auditing IBNR
and HMO risk pools and has worked with a wide range of industries including brokers and dealers
in securities, financial institutions, retailers and telecommunications. Prior to joining MBAF, he
worked for two years with one of the Big Four accounting firms where he coordinated and executed
audit engagements.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Florida
Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a School of Accounting Affinity Member at
Florida International University, where he earned both a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree
and a Master of Accounting degree. Ramirez is currently working toward earning the AICPA’s
certification in IFRS, a newly created certificate program.
