Maymana Moati is being recommended for a position. The recommender worked closely with Maymana for over two years on an ambitious research project exploring navigational strategies in blind people. Maymana was involved in every aspect of the difficult project, which included maze experiments, virtual reality, fMRI scanning, and data analysis. He demonstrated creativity in suggesting new experiments and tools. Throughout the project, Maymana showed a strong understanding of research methods and questions. He was dedicated, hard-working, and passionate about his work. The recommender believes Maymana would be a great addition to any laboratory.
1. Recommendation for Letter Maymana Moati
It is a great pleasure for me to write this recommendation letter for Mr Maymana
Moati. I met Maymana while I was pursuing my post-doctoral studies in Professor
Amir Amedi’s laboratory at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I was first
approached by Maymana because he had heard of the research projects we were
conducting, and he was interested in working with us. I immediately accepted his
application because Maymana is a highly enthusiastic and charming young man, and I
could tell it would be a pleasure to work with him. Furthermore, as was evident from
the time I spent working with him, Maymana is a highly intelligent, motivated and
dedicated person, who understands research. Let me explain:
Maymana and I worked together for several months over a period of close to two
years on a very ambitious and difficult project. We were collecting data together in a
project exploring the navigational strategies of people who are blind and the neural
correlates thereof. This was very difficult work involving real life size maze, virtual
renditions of the same mazes and fMRI scanning. Some of the tasks were very
difficult and delicate, like filming the participants in the mazes, analyzing this data,
meeting with people with visual impairements and conducting the experiments.
Maymana was involved in every part of this project and persevered for the entire time
that he worked with us.
During the elaboration of the research paradigm. He also demonstrated original
thought and often suggested ideas for experiments or original ways to test our ideas.
Maymana always had very creative ideas about how to build tools and how to plan
methods for our experiment, even suggesting new experiments that we could do.
During the entirety of our work together, Maymana demonstrated a sharp
understanding and grasp of the research methods and questions: both in
understanding the scientific language and also internalizing the scientific rules and
culture. That is, he understands how to conduct research and what questions are
important and relevant according to the literature. In terms of data analysis, Maymana
was just as comfortable helping me analyze fMRI data as behavioral data from our
participants. Maymana was always very thirsty for knowledge, trying to learn as
much as he can in terms of techniques and theoretical knowledge.
Maymana is also very ambitious and determined. He understands that perseverance
and hard work are necessary for research. He is a very hard working and dedicated
student, he is also very passionate and enthusiastic about his work. He takes great
pride in his work. He it is also a real pleasure to work with him. Maymana was a
great and precious help for this project and he was more than just a student to me,
becoming a great friend.
I very highly recommend Maymana for this position. I am sure that Maymana would
be a great addition to any laboratory, he is a great team member and I am certain that
he will excel in any type of academic or research program.
Sincerely,
Dr. Daniel Robert Chebat
