RE: Mr. Adam Norman
To Whom It May Concern:
I am very pleased to write this letter in support of Mr. Norman’s application to a
physical therapy program. Mr. Norman was a student in several courses I taught in the
Department of Human Kinetics, at the University of Windsor. As his transcripts show,
Adam has maintained a consistently high academic standard throughout his course of
study. This high calibre of academic performance placed Adam among the top 10% of his
peers. Adam’s ability to juggle his academic, work, and various volunteer commitments
demonstrates him to be a highly driven and conscientious young man who has set out a
very clear path for himself.
I had the opportunity to work with Adam on an independent research project,
which allowed me to assess Adam’s work ethic outside the classroom environment. This
project required Adam to learn how to operate and collect visual scanning data using an
Eyenal system, which was used to examine the role of vision in an attentional focus
study. Adam was extremely motivated and enthusiastic about the study, and meticulous
during the critical data gathering process. At the conclusion of the study, his report was
thorough and well-written and he demonstrated an above average ability to both critically
evaluate related research, and suggest ways in which his results contributed to a better
understanding of the research area. He is one of those rare students who can view a
problem from different perspectives and suggest alternative solutions. He is an avid
learner who will seek out additional resources to supplement his understanding of the
material. In today’s academic climate, Adam’s initiative is a refreshing change. He is
bright, organized, and an active participant in any learning environment he is in.
On the basis of his academic performance and the interactions I have had with
Mr. Norman over the course of time I have known him, I feel he would meet the
academic rigors of any clinical program very well and possesses the qualities of personal
integrity and compassion that would make him an excellent therapist. I recommend him
without reservation.
Sincerely,
