The gamble house is a national historic landmark. The
gamble house is also a museum. It is located in Pasadena,
California in USA (Arntzenius 34). It was designed by Brothers
Charles summer and Henry Mather Greene of the architectural
firm Greene and Greene for the proctor and gamble company in
1908; it was declared a national historic landmark in 1977 it
provides docent guided tours. Villa Maier is a villa, guest house
and rural retreat designed and built by the finish modernist
architect Alva Aalto for Harry and Marie Gullichsen in
Noormarkku, Finland in 1939; it provides tours of which one
must inquire about in advance (Aalto 543). Both of these houses
are categorized among the 10mid-century modern lovable homes
and masterpieces of the twentieth century.
The gambler house is a master piece of the Greene brothers and
deserves to be known by everybody on the merits of well-
crafted architecture, inside and out. It has featured in numerous
films and combines styles and means that is art and crafts. The
owners of the house proctor and gamble were business partners.
They were candle and soap makers who merged to become
millionaires. Originally the house was intended for winter
residence for David and Mary Gamble, it greatly portrayed
Japanese aesthetics and the American Craftsman style
architecture was focused on the use of natural materials,
attention and craftsmanship (Arntzenius 374).
The interior rooms have been built using woods such as the oak,
maple and mahogany. Wooden panels in the entry hall are
concealed leading to the kitchen while another opens to the
closet. The villa Mairea is an L- shaped house that expresses
tradition of modern architecture. It was designed for the
wealthy Gullichsens couple and members of the Ahlstrom
family as an experimental house. With the L-structure it created
a semi-private enclosure to
Around the angle L a swimming pool is situated with a number
of rooms overlooking it. Since its design numerous changes
have been made to modify it to look better. Such development
includes the proto-Mairea (Bosley 73). It established basic
disposition of accommodation found in the finished house,
changes were made pertaining the family room and the servant
wing. This occurred in the early spring of 1938.
The gamble house is located in a large track of land. The
track is approximately three hectares of land. It is also a site
that is located for travel. They visit the place to view the
numerous attractive cites. During the winter, David and Mary
gamble used to reside there. It was hence also described as the
art and craft masterpiece in America. This was because mostly,
they building of the gamble house mostly involved use of
natural raw materials and they paid much attention to details.
The craftsmen were very much experienced and they did the
work accurately void of errors. The rooms in this master
building are mostly building of wood. They include the maple,
oak and teak. These are types of wood that are moistly available
in the region. The gamble house is very attractive even from
afar. The wood is very well furnished and it is very smart
(Bosley95). Mahogany and the Port Oxford cedar are the main
wood trees that are used in the house. It is hence very cheap on
average.
Leading to a kitchen from the main door in the entry hall is
the wooden well-furnished panel. The furniture too is very
attractive (Gullichsen54). They are also designed in a way that
anyone is attracted the moment one enters the building. This is
very necessary since it is the master piece. In this, the
furniture’s must be of very high quality. The woods and the
rooms are of round shape. They have low horizons too. This
makes the rooms look so attractive in the long run...they
windows are designed in a superb way too. This is because; they
glitter with light every now and then. This is very advantageous
since it is very attractive. The windows are designed in a very
good art and are made of a high quality glass. The contractor
who designed the gamble house was very qualified. The
contractors worked together so as to increase the quality of the
organization.
They house mood is more casual. It is cool to relax there since
the atmosphere there is also very cool. The ceilings too are also
very different (Bosley 9). This is in that the heights are
designed in different ways, the heights are different in that
some of them are bigger that the others. The outside of the
house is aisle as lovely as there inside. There are numerous
porches that are strategically placed in the outside. These are
used for sleeping and are also used for resting. They are very
advantageous in their house and serve a very special function in
the house.
The contactors were very perfect in that they carefully planned
the gigantic master house in a very orderly manner. This makes
the house very special. They are also very important in that the
house can accommodate very many people at ago. The wooden
planes from afar make the house look very smart. Thus, the
name mater piece since it is perfectly built.
The house is very well arranged and has planting areas. Theses
planting Ares are very useful. They are useful in that they
beautify the place a lot. They are also advantageous as they are
involved in the shaping of the house. These shaping is the
outside description of the house in the long run. The gamble
house is landscape shaped. This means that its terrain is in the
landscape mode. The garden is surrounded by paths which are
very colorfully designed. They have very large water worn
stones that surround the paths. The paths are made with clinker
bricks that are very attractive (Gullichsen 231). The door also is
very attractive reflecting an Asian influence that runs through
the house. David and
Gamble lived in the house so many years ago. They lived
mostly in the winter months. They lived in the house until they
died in the year 1923 and 1929 respectively. Consequently, their
younger sister lived in the house until she died in the year 1943.
Many of the designers talked about painting the mahogany
white.
The whole house was designed and built with a main intention
of natural resources using. The wood carvings are also very
attractive. The rugs are welcoming while the lighting signifies a
very cool environment. It is very important to maintain the
culture of the house. The gamble house also uses very high
technology in oats building (Bosley 52). The craftsmen
exhibited very high technology through the high quality and
well organized wood work. It depicts a high art of building.
Villa Maier as we had seen is an l shaped house. It is built with
a high technological level too. The Villa Maier is mostly build
of wood, stones and brick. The stones and spaces between the
blocks vary from one police to another. It was designed mostly
for mare Gullichsen and harry. In most cases, the furniture is
also made of wood. They are very attractive in the long run.
They are strong and depict a good wooden culture. The house
was the third house which was of Ahlstrom money.
The house was founded by Marie’s grandfather. He had
designed it as a complete wooden house that would be very
attractive. The balconies are very big and are also boldly
cantilevered (Gullichsen87). There is a ceiling in the house. In
every house, there is also a fire place. The house won a price as
the best design. This was due to the linings. Carvings are also
very good and depict a good culture. They l shaped house is
very advantageous to them. This is because it separates the main
house or the family accommodation from that of the court yard.
The basement of the villa was a much reduced area. The design
was revised. The main entrance door was moved to an obvious
location in the front door living room. The l shaped was much
more a stone wall. The living room is very neat (Bosley76). It
depicts very high class organized architecture. This is very
necessary for it to be termed is a great success of the
architectures. There are also structural streamed columns are
structural placed. This makes the interior design of the house
very smart. The ideal is so good and the house is very smart.
The house is loved by many as it depicts a very good
architectural background.
There is a big seat at the opposite of the table. The kitchen is
well furniture with wood and very colorful colors decorate it. It
boss depicted by the strong curves in the interior of the house
that are very attractive (Thomas87). It is also very important
that they are very attractive. This is the reason why the house is
referred to as the master mind of the buildings. The dining room
has a flat roof. This makes it look very cozy. It expends to the
front of the room and hence depict a very attractive villa. The
angels of the villa are also very accurate. It took the
architecture much time to design the house. It was argued that
the villa depict a very strong social tradition of the family. This
is very advantages.
There is a speculation which runs through the door of the
house. Comparing the first floor and the ground floor, there is a
very great difference. The difference is that they are different.
The floor is a very straight forward house. It contains many
private rooms that are very well arranged. The main stair also
has its own main fireplace. All they fire places are directly
below each other. These are some of the reasons why the villa is
describes as the masterpiece, the master bedrooms are pried in
most sides of the bathroom. They usually are very cozy. They
are unique as they drop under the ceiling.
This is very advantageous of the villa. This is because it gives
very ample room for air conditioning. Air conditioning is very
vital in this villa. This is because it creates a very good
atmosphere. The atmosphere is very cool and relaxing
(Thomas42). The carvings are also attractive and they add the
beauty of this villa. The children’s room is very unique. This is
because they have very big and spacious space which the
children use to p [lay in. they are very necessary for the
healthiness of the children. They have various and much
equipment’s that the children use in playing, in this, the
children remain fit and healthy.
This is very advantageous to those living in the house. There is
a very beautiful garden in this villa. It makes the exterior look
so attractive. It is very necessary in that the beauty of the house
is clearly defined. The guest room faces the beautiful garden. In
this, the guestroom is very cozy. The guests in the area Rae
welcomed here and are given a very wall welcome. The garden
is used to depict the nature of the sweet welcoming atmosphere
in the region. In this case, the house is hence described as the
masterpiece (Bosley 23). This makes it stand out from other
houses. There is a swimming pool outside the villa. In this case,
the swimming pool creates a cool environment for the people
relaxing there. The chairs too are mostly curved made of wood.
This depicts the attractive culture of the villa. The villa
however is being transformed from the traditional to the modern
culture. In this case, the trunks in the region are being removed.
The place is also surrounded by very many tees (Thomas 12).
The place looks very attractive hence it is very unique. There is
a wooden grass roof sauna which makes the exterior very
attractive. This in the long run shows the reason why the place
is very special.
The materials are slowly changing from the stones to glass and
steel in the gardens. In the long run, the place is very good and
attractive to everyone.
