Sustainable development means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This involves environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Key aspects include decreasing pollution and emissions through renewable energy, recycling, and green alternatives to fossil fuels while ensuring access to resources like water, education, and jobs for all as well as preventing overpopulation and wars.
1. Sustainable development = we should try to solve our problems now instead of
leaving the burden to future generations.
Environmental sustainability = maintain the productivity of the water, earth and ecosystem.
Decrease the effect on nature and man´s health.
We need to stem the flood of rubbish by recycling.
Find smart, cheap and green solutions through improved science.
By means of science develop the consumption of renewable sources of energy like wind- and water
power.
Find green alternatives to petrol and diesel which leads to a long-term decrease of the emissions.
Use renewable resources as an alternative to fossil fuels.
Buy locally produced food and thus lower the emissions from long distance transportation by truck
etc.
Stop the devastation of the rain forests and instead replant trees which can absorb the carbon
dioxide.
Social sustainability = build a stable and dynamic society where basic human needs are
fulfilled.
More equal distribution of the resources, Water is a good example. We in the Western World
consume tons of water every day in things like clothes etc. when others don't even have fresh water
to drink. They therefore often thirst to death or catch deadly diseases from bacteria. With our
support help themselves find green solutions to their water problems.
Everyone should have a right to education and after that get a job. This requires that the elder retire
but their paid taxes are also needed for different expenses, like pension.
Animal- and human rights, spend some time on analyzing the products' source. For example you
can buy “fair trade” marked products.
Invest in education because it forms the foundation to every generation´s capacity in society.
Economical sustainability = a long-term economizing of human and material resources.
Prevent wars which are a huge contributing factor to poverty and environmental damage. Phase out
the weapon industry and negotiate truces using words.
Demand a longer life for products.
Prevent further overpopulation by giving information about contraceptives and medical options. We
also need to introduce “child-limits” in countries with these problems, like they already have done
in China, if we want to reduce world poverty.
