Sustainable development

When I hear the word sustainable development, I think of the way, we are destroying the earth and
what we can do to prevent this destruction. I think the biggest problem is that we are gaining
economically while we are losing environmentally and on social parts. That is a big issue. We can 't
put our own needs before those of the poor countries in the world. For example while we are
driving around in our cars and heating up our houses with oil we are poisoning the air with carbon
dioxide, which makes the world get warmer and the ice of the south and north pole melt. They will
be gone if we continue to live the way we do.

The population of the world is growing and we are using more resources than we should. The
world's resources aren't endless. What can we do to solve this problems? We need to take our
responsibility and stop over consuming the oil. We need to find a new resource that is a social and
economical good solution. We are working on it and we have found some new resources like getting
energy from the sun and the wind. These are good solutions but it costs too much to implement and
people are not putting the environment before the economy and the power that you will get from the
sun and wind is still too small. For example one nuclear powerplant generates the same amount of
power that 750 wind turbines do.

I understand this dilemma but all countries need to take responsibility for these problems. It's the
poor countries that are suffering and that's horrible because they are not the ones that are creating
the problems. The water level is raising and a lot of countries will end up under sea level. That will
lead to many people suffering.

We also have a big problem with the population that are growing. We can't save the world if we are
too many. We need to help the poor countries. If we make the children survive they don't need to
have a lot of kids to make a living. We have a lot of problems to solve before we can live on the
earth in a natural and sustainable way. If we don't care about these problems the world will get
warmer and we will get a big population that is forced to live on a small area of the world. It will be
a lot harder to grow plants and cultivate the soil with the warm temperature and some places will be
impossible to live on.

My conclusion is that we need to help the poor countries to get a better society so they can live on
the earth in a decent way. We also need to put the environment before the economy and search for a
new energy resource. Until we find a new resource we need to stop using all the oil and destroying
the rainforest. Instead of destroying it we need to plant new trees. If we all work together we can
solve the problems. We just need to put an end to economic greed. The economy is worthless if we
destroy the world. You can't buy a new world. Our lives are most valuable for us, therefore we need
to make some sacrifices to save the world so the future generations can live on the earth.
