Basic challenges of democracy•Fundamental challenge of making transition to democracy andthen institutionalization of democratic government.•This step includes throwing nondemocratic regions out of power and establishing a sovereign state.•Challenge of expansion, it includes application of general rules of democracy every where•The next challenge is deepening of democracy which includes giving strength to intuitions and to democracy.

Fundamental challenge of democracyOne-fourth of the countries of the world are without democratic governmentThey are facing many challenges and the first and fore most is fundamental challenge.It involves changing to democracy and then establishment of democratic government.Non-democratic governments should be brought down and sovereign states should be established.

Challenge of expansionBasic principles of democracy should applied in every area among different social groups and different institutions.Local government should be empowered, federal principle should be extended to unite of federalism.Women, minorities and backwards classes should be included in the decision making process.

Challenge of deepening of democracyInstitutions and practices of democracy should be strengthened.It should be done in such a way that people should realize that what are their expectations from democracyActually this challenge has different meaning in different societies because of different needs of the people.People’s participation in democracy can give strength to democracy.
