Mark is an ex-detective who is determined to investigate the Black Widow serial killer. He gets a job working for an investigative newspaper and meets their criminal editor, Hans. However, Hans is later found dead. Mark becomes suspicious that Hans' death and the Black Widow case are connected. He continues investigating despite warnings to stop from his girlfriend Rosette and the note left by Hans, putting himself in danger.

1. New ‘The Widow’s Web Script’
[Police Station] Mark: My name is Mark Rivers, I’m an ex-detective
and if you don’t let me in to view the evidence the police have on
the Black Widow, then the world will never be safe again.
[Bar] Rosette: So err, I’ve never seen you here before
Mark: Well I’ve certainly see you
[Glass Chink]
[Rosette leans into Mark and whispers]: Follow me
[Interview] Mr Harding: So Mark, why are you the best man for this
job
[Interview] Hans: We’re the only paper left in London- we’re the
last writers of freedom
[London] Mark: Rose, I got the job!
Rosette: That’s fantastic news, we’ll err celebrate when you’re home
[Office] Hans: Hey, I’m Hans- criminal investigations editor
[Shake Hands]
[Bedroom] Rosette: Hans is dead, you need to accept that.
[Bedroom] Mark: I can’t.
[Hans’ Room] Mark: Your face says you’re innocent, but your heart
says you’re guilty
[Hans’ Room] Hans: The media and police aren’t interested. It’s us
against the city
[Hans’ House] Mark: Hans! Hans!
[Office] Mark: Don’t lie to me!
[Mark’s House] Rosette: Come back to bed, it’s probably nothing
Mark: I won’t be long [kiss on cheek]
[Street] Mark: I’ve solved many a crime in my life, but none as
perplexing as this.
[Hans’ House] Hans: Dear Mark, if you are reading this then I am
probably dead. The Black Widow is closer than you think. Don’t go
deeper, don’t get suspicious, leave the city.

2. [Car] Mark: Because, when I’m on a case...I always dig deeper
