Mark Klinedinst is an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Southern Mississippi, in Hattiesburg, MS. • Mark Klinedinst is an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the
University of Southern Mississippi, in Hattiesburg, MS. In addition
to teaching, he conducts economics research in his home state as
well as in Maryland. Also actively involved in volunteer work, Mark
Klinedinst works with various charities including Habitat for
Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity was awarded the Single Family Builder Safety
Program of the Year at this year’s SAFE awards. The award
ceremony hosted, by the National Association of Home Builders,
was held in January in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The SAFE awards recognize individuals and organizations that have
made safety a part of their residential construction work.
3. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
• Habitat for Humanity ensures the safety of its workers by
following safe work practices, applying effective safety
procedures, and using proven training programs.
In receiving the award, Lary Gluth, Habitat for Humanity
International’s senior vice president of the United States and
Canada, reiterated the organization’s commitment to enhancing
a culture of safety in the work place. He also stated that by
promoting safety, the organization was able to prevent
accidents and to channel the saved resources toward building
more homes for deserving people.
