2. Introduction
Mark Klinedinst, editor of Katrina Ten Years After,
and an emeritus professor of economics at the
University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg,
Mississippi, puts much effort into contributing to his
community in Hattiesburg. As a member of the
Hattiesburg Farmers Market board of directors, Mark
Klinedinst supports local farmers who want to sell
their goods, and local citizens who wish to improve
their health by purchasing fresh produce.
The Hattiesburg Farmers Market, previously known
as Pine Belt Farmers and Artisans Market, occurs
every Thursday from 3-6 pm in Downtown
Hattiesburg’s Town Square Park.
3. Hattiesburg Farmers Market
Every week, the market features live music from
local acts such as Soundwagon, Glenn Sasser, and
Cary Hudson. While farmers come with fresh
produce, vendors at the market provide goods like
handmade pottery and toys for purchase. Vendors
participating in the market include Bryant’s Produce,
J. Wilson Pottery, and Dorothy’s Herbals. With
ethically-raised meats, natural body products, and a
variety of tasting samples, those who attend the
market will be supporting not only the farmers
involved, but themselves as well.
