needs the University to
act as a link between
the academic realm and
employers,offering
internships.
There should be a
collaboratiom between
the market and
Universities to help
students learn what the
market needs.
The University should
develop the design
graduate as more of an
euntrepreneur,rather
than simply an
employee.
The design association
needs to promote the
profession as an integral
part of a successful
organization.
I need to work now. I know my field. I have
experience from studying at University.I
want to work at a company that inspires me.
There was no internship in my product
design course.I don´t have administrative,
legislative,or financial knowledge. My
accademic course didn´t connect me with
real-world job opportunties.There are too
many graduates for the number of good jobs.
Why can´t I get hired? I don´t have enough
practical experience. Employers don´t
really understand what a designer can do
for their business. Why won´t someone
just give me a chance? Should I do a Master´s
degree?
At University,create projects in a real-world style,
starting at the beginning and following all
the formal steps until completion. After
graduation,Go to interview after interview.
Make a CV that will stand out and get noticed.
Invest time,effort,and money in personal
marketing,or self branding,(facebook,portfolio
sharing websites,etc.) to attract clients.Take
additional courses in administration,legislation,
or finance.
- Unappreciated and undervalued,
- Like I did the wrong course,
- Like I should have made a better portfolio
while at University,
- I don´t want to work as a graphic designer
(like a lot of grads) because I´m a product
designer.
Recent graduate of Product Design Find a way to have the profession
more valued by the market.
Universities aren´t proving a link to the
market.Graduates are trained to be
employees rather than euntrepreneurs,
and because the associaton of designers
is not promoting product design as an
integral part of businesses.
