• According to IFIF, world compound feed production has reached an estimated 1
billion tons annually with Global commercial feed manufacturing generates an
estimated annual turnover of over US $400 billion.
• Commercial production or sale of manufactured feed products takes place in
more than 130 countries and directly employs more than a quarter of a million
skilled workers, technicians, managers and professionals
• The UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) estimates that the world will
have to produce 60% more food by 2050 and we believe that animal protein
production will grow even more – meats (poultry/swine/beef) will double, as well
as dairy, and fish production will almost triple by 2050.

• The pan grinder rollers (Fig. 7/A) and the die (Fig. 7/B) are the main
components of a pelleting press. The pan grinder rollers and the die are the
tools for the production of pellets.
• All other parts of the pelleting press are used for support and drive, for
feeding the product to be pelleted and for discharging the finished pellets.
• The product, which is fed vertically from above into the pelleting chamber,
forms a product layer on the die that is rolled over continuously by the pan
grinder rollers. As a consequence, the product is pre-compacted and pressed
into the effective bores of the die.
• These effective bores are designed in such a way that the product is further
compacted and a cylindrical strand emerges below the die.
A breaking-off device below the die (Fig. 7/C) breaks the solidified "endless"
strand to the desired length.

Principle of operation
The warm product enters the bin (4) through the inlet rotary valve (1).
Underneath the inlet rotary valve a distributor (3) may have been been
mounted, which ensures even distribution of product in the cooler.
The product is being cooled in the bin by means of an air flow, which
enters the bin through the discharge gate (5) and leaves the bin
through the air outlet (10).Product layer height is controlled by a level
sensor (8), which is adjustable in height. The level sensor ensures that
the product layer is kept at a predetermined height. As soon as
product activates the level sensor the discharger (5) is operated and
product is discharged through the hopper (7).
Discharging stops as soon as the product gets below the level sensor.
In order to prevent overflow, the cooler has been provided with an
overflow sensor (9), which stops product supply to the cooler.

Drying is realized according to the cross and
counter-current principle. Heated process
air passes through one or more product
layers. For drying, the hot air flows from
the bottom transversely to the running
direction of the conveying belts through
the product. During this process, the air
absorbs more and more moisture. The
result is a gentle drying, as the product
remains on the grids while the air flows
through it.
