presence in tyres, IT, health, energy,
infrastructure and plantations

employees across the globe

reset in its workplace policy around WFH
RPG Remote Working Policy
o W.e.f September 1, 2020
o It allows permanent WFH for all
sales employees in a work policy
reshuffle on August 31, 2020
o An office based employee will
work 2 weeks from home
o In exceptional cases, remote work
will be extended to 3 weeks

It is applicable to all its sales employees across
the globe
It re-shuffled its policies to offer
other employees the option to
WFH 50% of the time
In special cases, office based
employees maybe mandated to
attend office 75% of the time
RPG Remote Working Policy
In a month, an office based employee will work 2
weeks from home
In exceptional cases, remote
work can be extended to 3 weeks
This policy shatters the notion of
traditional work place
At present, office based staff work
entirely from home due to pandemic,
as all the offices of the Group remain
closed

 This policy is location and work
place agnostic
 Location agnostic working is an
approach to working that means
employees can choose where their day
to day office is
 Location agnostic working is possible
today because of widespread access to
broadband and collaboration tools.
 It does not mean being disconnected from your
colleagues

 This policy has shattered the notion of traditional
workspace
 It is the outcome of increased
productivity during the pandemic
 The measurement is of the
employee output and not the
number of hours clocked
 So, the employees can attend
office work from “anywhere” even
after the pandemic

o Employees not operating machines in the
manufacturing businesses or who do not have a
client obligation in the Group’s technology
services business, can work from “anywhere”,
post the pandemic
o This is in line with the Group’s
vision of “touching lives”
and the brand’s promise of
“happiness”

The Group encourages its employees to adopt
new and contemporary methods of working
This is done to improve their quality of life,
productivity and optimize the operating
expenses of the companies in the group
This policy is applicable for CEOs and senior
leadership too

“Empowering employees by giving them a choice
to work remotely from home or another location
for significant number of days in a month, will
enhance employee efficiency and business
output”
This is the 1st conglomerate
to implement this policy as a
long term option beyond the
Covid 19 phase

For this the Group set up a task force comprising
a young team which directly presented its
recommendations to the group management
board
The board set up a sub-
committee to take it forward
and frame a policy
Remote working will become a
long term and on-going new
normal, even post pandemic

During Covid, all the offices are 100% closed, but
factories/ project sites/ plantations are working
Employees are categorized into
4 groups by nature of the work,
which decides who can work
remotely and to what extent
A security officer will have to be
physically present at workplace
RPG Remote Working Policy
Similarly, an employee at the shop floor will need
to be present at work
In their Zensar Technologies, the
business model permits all the
employees to WFH
But those IT employees who have
to work from SEZ/ client locations or
based on their contractual obligations with clients
will work from company locations
RPG Remote Working Policy
Until today, only office based employees could
work from anywhere up to a few days in a month
This policy will help the group
rationalize its office real estate
space and enable hot desking
Hot desking is an office
organization system which involves
multiple workers using a single
physical work station or surface
during different time periods

 This initiative could set the tend for others to
follow
 Twitter was among the 1st
companies to announce
that its employees can WHF
permanently
 Facebook and Google have
announced WFH till end of
2021
RPG’s “China Mukt Bharat” policy
o In one of its businesses, 65%
of its turnover is from Chinese
imports. In the last 2 months,
it has been reduced to 35%
o To reduce its dependence on
Chinese goods, RPG is working
towards making it touch zero
o It instead makes a special
replacement using the
“Make in India” concept
