3. I chose to use the Criminal Minds Fan site as one of my resources because it has similar
links to the genre and narrative of my online series and it also shows how the audience
can become interactive with each other about the show.
The way that a fandom have created an entire website to share news, updates and other
content about the TV show reflects Jesse Schell’s theory of how people use the media as a
form of escapism. The online fandom also shows aspects of David Gauntlett’s theory of
Web 1.0 and 2.0 and how the internet has become a place for a more interactive
audience.
I like how the content of the website is very specific and gives you a different page on the
nav bar for every possible article that you could want to access if you are a person who
likes knowing the latest updates, spoilers and viewing promotional videos all in one place.
5. As part of my research, I also decided to research real cases of ransom notes being used in
hostage situations. These included the JonBenet Ramsay case, The Lindbergh baby
kidnapping and also the kidnapping of Chicago millionaire's son Bobby Franks.
All of the real examples of ransom notes that I have found are handwritten in almost
illegible handwriting, and none are presented in the stereotypical cut out letter way.
For my print product, I am considering using a stereotypical cut out letter ransom note as a
feature image page in my magazine.
7. User generated content is something that I thought would be good to research for my
product as I will have page on my website where the viewers can submit their own
content onto the website to share with others.
User generated content comes in loads of different forms such as fan art, videos,
fanfictions, fan sites, image manipulation and so much more.
I have also thought about including a forum page in my gallery page so that fans can
make different topics to discuss with other viewers about the show.
