Talking usually doesn’t help when a student is at crisis or even sometimes when escalating. Using sensory strategies allows us to intervene in a way the child can respond to. Some students can be described as “non-verbal” during crisis – which leaves us using an intervention that isn’t effective

Students must be ready to learn. Active and engaged learning is very demanding – mentally and physically – set students up for success.
