Lear's macaw is a large blue Brazilian parrot that lives in northeastern Bahia. Thanks to conservation programs established by the Brazilian government in 2001, these smart and lovely parrots survive, though they are threatened by illegal animal trafficking and habitat destruction. The titi emperor is a primate found in the Amazon regions of Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru. It lives in the tree canopy and survives there, but deforestation of its habitat for agriculture and mining is causing the accelerated decline of the species. The Bolivian government and population do not try to prevent this because they benefit more economically from using the land for other activities.
