ABOUT?
CITES or “Convention on International Trade in Endangered
Species of Wild Fauna and Flora” protects over 5.800
species of animals and 30.000 species of plants in order to
stop over-exploitation through international trade.
3. WHAT DO WE MEAN BY
OVER-EXPLOITATION?
Over-exploitation refers to harvesting a renewable resource constantly.This
human economic activity takes organisms in larger numbers than their populations
can withstand;it can actually lead to the destruction of the resource and even to its
extinction.Although it doesn’t always mean unsustainability,it does have some
effects on the species.
