Hello and welcome
Dynamics Business Conference 2015
What is Content Marketing and what you need to know to get it going in your organisation
Here’s a top level view of how the next 20-25 minutes are going to pan out.
I’ll briefly introduce myself and reassure you why choosing this session was the right decision
We’ll then identify what Content Marketing actually is, why it is now a thing and how it pulls together all of the disciplines of the marketing mix like SEO, social media marketing, product marketing etc
What you will learn is that content marketing is huge – and that it acts as an umbrella to all of your existing routes to market.
Once we understand what it is, I’ll provide an insight into what you can do to set up your own content marketing strategy, including best practice tips, tools and software etc
Lastly I’ll leave you with some predictions and forecasts to reassure you that if you’re not already producing content in a strategic manner, you better start soon.
I am using content marketing on the front line everyday to create enquiries, opportunities and pipeline
Hubspot, Click Dimensions, Microsoft Dynamics Marketing, Marketo, even wordpress and mail chimp
The right software platform is completely down to your crm, your business, your products, your products buying cycle etc etc
I am not a writer. I don’t believe the future of marketing is Content because I love writing about topical events

Content Marketing is producing and sharing original content that does not have an immediate sales return expectation
Difficult to sell to Sales Directors and Managing Directors
The market place has evolved, beyond traditional marketing practices.
A good example of content marketing is say, An Microsoft Dynamics Partner offering customers a presentation on content marketing when there is no direct sales expectation from said company.
“The quest to consume information is ever present in human nature”
It is the default type of media in which information is consumed which is first to change, and is already changing.
Tolerating obstacles to attain the information will be the next thing to wear thin
If you are not producing original “content”/”information” for the people that you want to buy from you, those people will buy from someone else.
All of these points are reinforced by the mantras and latest algorithms of the likes of google/bing etc…
