3. Selling point of our film
• The unique selling point I identify with within our
film is that the film is a british urban drama that
deals with heavy taboo topics regarding youth
such as drugs, relationships, urban deprivation
and guidance for young males.
• It is a low budget, art house film
• It depicts a group of people under represented
within the British media, the young skating
community.
4. Use of music
• Our soundtrack from artist, ‘No Mannerz
works in sync and with clarity in drawing
out and aiming at the target audience.
• The fast pace urban grime tone of it is
immediately identifiable with young
urban males and secludes other potential
target audiences for example it is
obviously not aimed at mature adults.

5. Use of skating and stunts
• The use of skating and stunts from the
skaters builds up the genre to our
target audience
• I feel we achieved the right balance
between introducing the character and
creating a strong mise-en-scene of the
urban skater environment.
The fact that we did not use
professional skaters means that
members of the the target
audience may have actually
practiced and be able to do
these tricks building up a
familiarity with the scene /
environemnt
6. Costume
• The connotations of colour of the costume
that our character is wearing within the
opening
power
Death
Formality
Evil
Fear
Unknown
Mystery
7. Similarities with other film openings• Reflecting back on our film opening I see a
lot of the influence of ‘This is England
within the opening. The opening brings
together both stills and moving image
creating a intro into the world of the
characters and the settings. Similarly to
the opening of this is England the setting
of our opening is potently urban
8. • In comparison to our film
opening the titles of the film
come in much earlier than
within our opening yet
similarly our opening aims at
setting the atmosphere and
using location, costume and
stills to initiate the genre and
storyline.
It is also clear that in the
first nine frames of the
opening of this is England
they have attracted their
target audience/
identified them by using
this found imagery of
memorable events from
the time and it becomes
clear that it is a nostalgic
urban British drama.
Although our
conventions
differ from
those in this is
England we
spent a lot of
time working
with building
the feel of an
urban drama
