The Lord chose 72 disciples to send out in pairs to towns and places He planned to visit. He instructed them to pray for more workers for the harvest and to travel lightly without money or extra belongings. They were to bring peace to any home that welcomed them, staying there and accepting hospitality. If welcomed, they were to heal the sick and proclaim that the Kingdom of God was near. If a town refused them, they were to shake its dust from their feet as a warning that the Kingdom was near.

Lord Sends 72 Disciples to Share Gospel
1.
2. Luk 10:1-11 NLT
The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent
them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places He planned
to visit. 2 These were His instructions to them: "The harvest
is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is
in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into
His fields. 3 Now go, and remember that I am sending you
out as lambs among wolves. 4 Don't take any money with
you, nor a traveler's bag, nor an extra pair of sandals. And
don't stop to greet anyone on the road. 5 "Whenever you
enter someone's home, first say, 'May God's peace be on this
house.' 6 If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing
will stand; if they are not, the blessing will return to you.
3. Luk 10:1-11 NLT
7 Don't move around from home to home. Stay in one place,
eating and drinking what they provide. Don't hesitate to
accept hospitality, because those who work deserve their
pay. 8 "If you enter a town and it welcomes you, eat
whatever is set before you. 9 Heal the sick, and tell them,
'The Kingdom of God is near you now.' 10 But if a town
refuses to welcome you, go out into its streets and say, 11
'We wipe even the dust of your town from our feet to show
that we have abandoned you to your fate. And know this--
the Kingdom of God is near!'

Person
of Peace
6. Perceiving the Person of Peace
• Time - “Stay in one place”
• Team – “in pairs”
• Target – “don’t stop to greet anyone”
• Task – “the Kingdom is at hand”
• Trouble – “refuses to welcome you”
Editor's Notes
1) Takes Time; Jesus instructed the disciples to “stay in one place and not go from house to house. How often do we either just give up too quickly or have our minds set on the next person.2) Happens in Team; Jesus sent them out two by two, not only for protection and encouragement but also for accountability and to model kingdom relationships. Jesus did say that they will know that we are His disciples by our love for each other.3) Has a Target; He told them not to “stop and greet,” its not that he wanted them to be unfriendly but rather He wanted to keep them from losing site of the mission and getting distracted along the way.4) Involves a Task; the job at hand was to tell people that “the Kingdom is at hand.” In other words to tell people that God is near to them and welcoming people in to His Kingdom.5) Expect Trouble; not all people of peace will want to fully receive the message. This was not to cause the disciples to get stuck in arguments or despair but they had to move on. If people reject us or our message we leave them in God’s hands and move on knowing we have done our part.
