In Phoenix, event organizers will also showcase the first PPR 101 Compilation CD. A
cooperative endeavor with DJ KSB, Volume one of the compilation will feature some of the best
talent who have performed and/or participated in a previously held PPR 101
seminar/showcase. “For many independent artists, we act as their unofficial publicist, via PPR
201. Long after PPR 201 has left their city, we continue to advise many past participants on
how to build on their existing momentum. Having music included on the compilation cd
affords the artists music reviews by top entertainment journalists and exposure in additional
markets, even when they aren’t present. PPR 201 is not just an event; it’s a relationship of
results, explains ChiQ Simms, event organizer and celebrity publicist.”
Past PPR 201 showcase winners like Brittany Starr of Dallas, Texas have gone on to New York
and Chicago earning a music video and opportunity to work with Twista. Starr took second
place at New York’s premiere A&R talent scouting event Blaze the Stage and currently has
several major labels bidding for her. Starr hit the BET 106 & Park stage January 28 and won
with more than 50% of the vote. Her win landed an opportunity to be heard of the Tom Joyner
Morning show and a slot as the opening act for Comedians J Anthony Brown and Sheryl
Underwood. New Orleans hiphop rock star of MGG Entertainment, Michael Carlione
performed on Bet’106 & Park after participating in PPR 201 in New Orleans. He later traveled
to the Miami event where he landed an editorial opportunity in the Source Magazine and his

are profiled on www.PPR101alumni.ning.com.
