With the emerging trends in technology, phones were updated to smart phones, there are two major type of OS leading in the phone market. One is Android and other is iOS. Each OS has their own pros and cons. Android is an Open Source software which belongs to Linux family whereas iOS is closed source model belongs to OS X, UNIX family and is used in Apple devices. It is difficult to transfer a file from a non-apple device like iPad and iPhone, the transfer has to go through iTunes or cloud. Communication between apple eco system is easier, faster with a feature called Airdrop which is available in all iOS and OS X [1]. Coming to the security part, iOS is more secure than Android because, iOS doesn’t reveal source code to developers where as android releases source code to its developers. The vulnerabilities can be easily found and can put the phone and tablet to risk.
On a whole, I would say that Android has huge popularity due to the number of apps available in the google play store. As lot of developers are there for open source applications, android devices get to customize more according to user’s wish. Android owners can change the source code according to their preferences [2]. This appears to have both pros and cons. Pro is that use can customize and see changes while con is that cybercriminals can alter the source code if there is an open end while editing the source code. On the other hand, Apple’s iOS has more difficult controls and review process to add an app is difficult. iOS users can’t customize ROMs on their devices and it is controlled by Apple alone. It has better security than android devices.

iOS Vs. Android:
Working Systems (OS) is available in all advanced devices like
PCs, cell phones, vehicles, little machines which can be "Web
of Things (IoT)" contraptions. "They go about as a scaffold
among clients and the PC gadgets to draw in with the
frameworks. working frameworks deals with the equipment of
the PC or any shrewd gadgets to work in unmistakable ways for
the necessities of the clients" [2].
As of late the most prominent two working frameworks which
are utilized inside the cell phones are IOS and Android OS.
"IOS is created by Apple that is used in all the Mac items and
Android is created by Google and is utilized in heaps of gadgets
like PC frameworks, PC frameworks, advanced mobile phones,
tablets and other shrewd gadgets" [1]. "Android is open source
stage that is basically founded on Linux which enables the
clients to alter any basic capacities inside the gadgets. While
IOS depends on OS X and UNIX structures which can be
utilized in just apple gadgets like iPhone and is easy to utilize
and is considerably less mind boggling and is less adjustable for
the customer. Numerous enormous portable fabricates like
Samsung, HTC, Motorola, etc., use Android working
frameworks in their advanced cells and tablets" [1].
4. In connection to security component of the OS Androids
bundles doesn't give access or passage to various capacities till
the clients uniquely give get to section to the remainder of the
framework’s capacities. "This makes the gadget significantly
less defenseless and have any bugs. As this working framework
is broadly mainstream it is bound to have digital assaults to
present malware by means of printed substance message
connects through giving unapproved access to buyer data and
passes it to outsiders" [1]. "IOS is less likely to get the malware
strikes as Apple persistently audits applications and check to
select the distributers. Be that as it may, with the strategy for
jailbroken the applications can in any case be mounted from
open air and makes it additional powerless to malware assaults
[1]".

Types of Operating System:
Silberschatz, Gagne & Galvin (2018) states that the operating
system does perform the basic tasks such as the management of
5. files, process as well as act as a memory. The type of operating
system to be put in place does depend on many factors. The
common types of the OS commonly installed in the computers
includes the Microsoft Windows, Unix, Linux, and Mac
operating system. Linux OS is free to use OS that is normally
used in game development, hardware and software, and game
development. On the other hand, the Unix operating system is
mainly used in the internet servers, PCs and workstations. The
summary is a comparison of the Linux and Unix operating
system.
One of the notable difference that exists between the Linux and
Unix can be in terms of security. Linux is more secured that the
Unix since it can prevent the malware from accessing PCs. The
Linux OS is, therefore, more effective, especially when it comes
to offering security solutions to large organizations (Frisch,
2012). This is because of its ability to quickly detect and
counter the malware before it affects the system. This can help
reduce the extent to which damages could be experienced. This
is as opposed to Linux which does not have the system to offer
effective protection.
The use of Linux OS is much more cost-friendly than that of
Unix OS. Unix normally exists in a variety of flavors that are
available at different prices. This is contradictory to the Linux
operating system which can be easily installed since it only
requires the downloading of the OS without incurring expenses
(Frisch, 2012). This has made Linux more popular amongst its
users who are more since it is availed freely. On the other hand,
the Unix operating system is also advantageous from the aspect
that it is portable. This is as opposed to its counterpart. In
conclusion, the choice of the OS is dependent on a number of
factors.
