  2. 2. What is Pop music? <ul><li>Pop is a subgenre of popular music whose rhythm is the one which people can usually dance along with. Its song lyrics usually deal with emotions and talk about love, loss, emotion or dancing. Unlike other popular music genres pop songs are usually written by professional writers and popularized by singers. </li></ul>

History <ul><li>By the early 1980s, the promotion of pop music had been greatly affected by the rise of Music Television channels like MTV, which favoured those artists such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince who had a strong appeal. </li></ul><ul><li>Pop music has been dominated by the American and British music industries </li></ul>
