• But what do we do if the building is not safe for us to stay in –
what do we do?

• What do we do once we get there?
• Our safety plans need to prepare us for the wide variety of
situations we could face

• Not to be perfect, but to practice, identify areas to improve and
strive to be better each time

evacuation site?

8. What to do with students in a
lengthy lockdown?
• Generate ideas on what you’d do with students if you were in
a lockdown for:
• 30 minutes
• 1 hr
• 3 hrs
9. How do we get out of a
lockdown?
• Basic answer: law enforcement will open the door when the
scene is determined to be safe enough to begin evacuation
plans.
• Be aware:
• Never answer someone at the door
• Remain quiet
• Do not open the door – law enforcement will have a key

the alternate site?
• Go Bags

• Attendance: Red – Yellow – Green cards
• Implement reunification plan
