Dates: Week 16: June 11th – June 15th
Description: You will have a conversation with your partner to demonstrate how well
you can use the language studied during the second half of the semester.
Instructions:
• Get together with a partner
• Read the ‘Combined Conversation Situations’ below and think about the
details you might wish to talk about
• Review and practice using the appropriate language and expressions
• Really know what you are saying and speak naturally - Do not memorize!
(No pre-written scripts will allowed during the exam)
• Speaking time: 5-6 minutes.
• There will be some time to practice in class before the final project week
• You only have to come to class for your exam time (you will select your
time and day the week before project week; just like the midterm)
Combined Conversation Situations:
Note: On the day of the final, one of the conversation situations below will chosen for
you to demonstrate.
You may also use any of the Conversation Tools from Unit 1 – Unit 11, as well
as, any expressions / grammar you feel match the situations below
Situation A: Unit 7 (Shopping) and Unit 9 (Giving Advice)

Complementing, Shopping Survey, Comparing Dialogue, Ask an Expert, Giving advice Board Game
You have a big problem. You forgot your boy/girl friend’s birthday and need to buy a
great gift to make up for it. Ask your partner for suggestions on what to do and what
to buy so that you will be forgiven. Ask and answer questions to compare the
differences between products and ideas.
Situation B: Unit 9 (Giving Advice) and Unit 10 (Giving Directions)

You have a ‘big’ date, but you don’t where to take your boy/girlfriend. Ask your friend
for advice and suggestions of where to go. Decide on a place and get directions to go
there.
Situation C: Unit 8 (Looking Back) and Unit 11 (Looking Ahead)

Dictation, Personal Time Line - Describing past events the future (next month, etc.), Predicting: Palm Reading
You’re meeting an old friend, whom you haven’t seen since you were in middle school
together. Talk about your past experiences (good and bad) and discuss your hopes
and plans for the future.
