Theory of Human Caring And The Neuman Systems Model Nursing frameworks and conceptual models are imperative as a foundation for nursing
practice. These frameworks provide recognition, understanding, and the ability to manage phenomena in which nursing comes into contact. These
frameworks also provide the nurse with a systematic approach to interventions and goal attainment. The purpose of this paper is to compare Neuman
Systems Model to Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring. According to Alligood and Tomey the Neuman Systems Model is classified as a nursing

3). The feedback loop is the regulator of information. How well the system responds to stress and strain will be dependent on its feedback loop and
the flow of information. All systems try to maintain equilibrium or homeostasis state. To achieve this goal, an open system is always in constant
motion, sharing ideas and reacting to the input and output flow (Tourville & Ingalls, 2003, Systems Model, para. 3). According to Alligood and
Tomey Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring is classified as nursing philosophy. "Nursing philosophy sets forth the meaning of nursing phenomena
through analysis, reasoning, and logical argument. Philosophies contribute to nursing knowledge by providing direction for the discipline, forming a
basis for professional scholarship and leading to new theoretical understandings" (Alligood & Tomey, 2010, p. 69). Tourville and Ingalls classify
Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring as a developmental model. "The developmental model makes an assumption that there is a process of growth
or maturation that is directional and has some orderly purpose. At each stage of development changes are inherent, predictable, and have some causal
factors" (Tourville & Ingalls, 2003, Developmental Model, para. 1). Developmental models have four different forms of progression. The first is

Personal Narrative Analysis
I attach myself to words, certain words and literature seem to draw out my inner optimist. I spend my free time watching biographies and
documentaries or reciting poetry of Langston Hughes and although I tip toe over a plethora of quotable sentences and words, I find myself stuck on
one in particular. The word that leaves footprints throughout the sands of my mind is "Triumphant" /trД«Л€Й™mfЙ™nt/ the dictionary defines the
word as "feeling or expressing jubilation after having won a victory or mastered a difficulty." In layman's terms it's just considered "winning" but
Triumphant to me means so much more. Growing up I have had my shares of troubles, I've had my shares of trials and tribulations that ended up
diminishing my hope. Quite honestly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
during one day which seemed like fate I sat and I was at a point where I wondered where it is that I go from here? (Here being my current situation)
I felt like I had no clear understanding on the concept of "being an adult" frustrated I set time aside and moved some boxes looking to organize
what was at the time a disastrous room hopping to get my mind off the situation at hand and a book my teacher gave me as a graduation gift rolled
out. It was marked with her well known insignia which was a cursive "s" inside of a overlapping "o" I sat on the side of my mattress as I skimmed
through the pages till I reached a note, the note read as "Nothing can resist the person who smiles at life – I don't mean the ironic and disillusioned
smile of my grandfather, but the triumphant smile of the person who knows that he will survive, or that at least he will be saved by what seems to be
destroying him. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin" Given that I'm a millennial and I grew up through the age of flourishing technology, my attention span
falls short from time to time, but the quote had me in complete awe and out of all 48 words that made up the poem the few that made my heart stop as

Pierre Teilhard Research Paper
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Sj, was born on May 1, 1881 in Sarcenat, France and he died April 10, 1955 in New York City ("Pierre Teilhard De
Chardin"). He was a Jesuit paleontologist who worked to connect and understand both evolution and faith. Teilhard first became interested in nature as a
child and as he grew older he furthered his studies in both geology and the natural sciences. After he entered into the Jesuits, when he was eighteen, he
prepared to give up his interests so that he may better give himself to his spiritual vocation. While in the Jesuits, the Church issued a monitum to
Teilhard warning him against uncritical acceptance of the ideas he had and would later write about. Even with this warning, his spiritual dedication was

Obedience is, also, easily arguable and some of the points for poverty also lean towards obedience. Teilhard has a deeper kind of poverty than just
that of physical belongings. He has poverty in his soul. This is shown when he joined the fight in World War I. He easily could have been a
chaplain which would have been a higher ranked and less dangerous role. Instead, he chose to be a stretcher bearer and constantly risked his life to
safe the lives of his fellow soldiers. When he first entered into the Jesuits he was willing to give up his passion so that he may serve others. He
was preparing to and would have had he been asked to. This is a man who truly took nothing for granted and would give everything he had up if
need be. The Church told him that he would not be able to see some of his works published and they would only be published after he died. Instead
of leaving, he stayed and continued doing his work and publishing what he could. This shows poverty as he gave up what he worked hard to
accomplish because the Church told him to. This shows not only obedience but the poverty of his soul. Poverty to the point that he could and would
give up everything he wanted and had accomplished to better serve

20814 Toward the end of the nineteenth century, the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche wrote a fictional account of a madman who went about
the town proclaiming that "God is dead." Nietzsche's story is illustrative of a wave of atheism that spread through the intellectual circles of Europe in
the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, but that never caught on in society at large. The idea of the divine demise, however, did not die: A
movement by theologians resurrected Nietzsche's thesis in the 1960s, amidst the other forms of radical thinking that characterized that decade. ... Show

MONOTHEISM'S THREE–PRONGED PROBLEM Monotheism also contains another essential problem––one with implications for the future. The
Western God of the Jewish–Christian–Islamic tradition illustrates the core difficulty in monotheism, a philosophical conundrum that has been called
the theodicy problem. It is formulated as a trilemma and can best be illustrated this way: Among the following three statements, it is logically
possible to reconcile any two of them, but the agreement of two implies that the third is false. The three statements are: 1. God is omnipotent. 2.
God loves us. 3. Evil exists. In the first instance, if God can do anything (create the universe, for example), and if the universe contains natural and
moral evils (hurricanes and Hitlers, for example), then it would seem that God lacks compassion for the victims, especially when these victims are
innocent sufferers. Dostoyevsky's character Ivan in The Brothers Karamazov makes this case eloquently when he tells the story of innocent children
tortured by cruel soldiers in front of their parents. How could a loving God allow this? The second case is the acceptance of a loving, concerned
God and the existence of evil in the world. This implies that even God cannot find a way to eliminate evil, or at least reserve it as punishment only for
those who deserve it. A God who cannot do this is less than omnipotent. Finally, one can

Helmut Schwab and Sri Aurobindo presented two examples of using the term cosmopsychology in this expanded, non–astrological context. The Dutch
physician Matthijs Cornelissen of the Indian Psychology Institute used the term cosmopsychology in regards to the teachings of the Indian teacher Sri
Aurobindo (1872 – 1950).6 Aurobindo called his cosmopsychology or spiritual psychology integral yoga. His teachings have also been referred to as
integral psychology and as integrality. Integral yoga is based on Hinduism's Advaita Vedanta (not two) or non
–dual philosophy. According to
Aurobindo, consciousness pervades the universe and manifests in a range of gradations. Consciousness undergoes both involutionary and evolutionary
phases. Its involutionary phase is seen as the creation of matter and the physical universe. Its evolutionary phase is seen in the evolution of life and the
spiritual development of humanity. Aurobindo's teachings focused primarily on the ongoing evolution of consciousness by means of the spiritual
development of the individual. Aurobindo described three systems of mind or consciousness: (1) the surface/outer/frontal consciousness (typically
gross state), consisting of physical, vital, and mental levels of consciousness; (2) a deeper/psychic/soul system behind the frontal in each of its levels
(inner physical, inner vital, inner mental, and innermost psychic or soul; typically subtle state); and (3) the vertical ascending/descending

The Piltdown Hoax
Introduction The infamous event of the Piltdown hoax is one that continues to draw speculative attention over a century after the initial announcement
of the paleoanthropological findings. Although many scientists, especially those involved in the field of paleoanthropology, would like to forget the
incident entirely, the Piltdown man–taxonomically referred to as Eoanthropus dawsoni–is perhaps the greatest hoax in anthropological history. By
1912, British archaeologists and paleontologists were desperate for a significant paleoanthropological finding that would provide the missing link
between humans and apes in hominin evolution (Prosser, 2009). The Piltdown man was originally a famous finding that straddled the human–animal
boundary, dichotomously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A. C. H., was discovered in the loft space above the office of the Keeper of Zoology–the office Hinton had occupied from 1936 to 1945. This was the
first concrete evidence implicating Hinton in the Piltdown hoax (Gardiner, 2003). Contained in the trunk were x teeth similarly stained to the materials
discovered at Piltdown I, while several other materials, such as elephant and hippopotami teeth and bone fragments, had been whitened similar in
fashion to the 'cricket bat' found at the Piltdown II site; the cricket bat having been made form an elephant femur. Hinton had experimented with bone
and tooth staining (De Groote et al., 2016) predominantly staining them with iron to match the gravels of a Pleistocene era (Gardiner, 2003)... Also
among Hinton's effects, were eight human teeth that had been stained with iron, chromium, and manganese (Gardiner & Currant, 1996), similar to
those of the Piltdown site. When the fluorine dating method was implemented this further incriminated Hinton as the findings from the Piltdown I site
evidenced "a recent ape jaw and canine had been artificially modified, stained and planted at Piltdown I, along with parts of a similarly stained recent
human skull" (De Groote, 2016, p. 4). The method Hinton practiced (evidenced by the findings in his trunk) was unique to him–a signature–therefore,

Flannery O Connor's Everything That Rises Must Converge
"Everything that Rises Must Converge" looks like a simple story when you read the literal meaning of the title terms, it also sounds like the author
has presented a simple story that can be easily understood without any struggle with the stylistic nature of the work and the religious symbolism
incorporated. In this book, we are presented with Mrs. Chestny; she's a fanatic who believes that the black man must rise. This is based on the fact
that she condescendingly offers some money to the small black child in the story due to his sons Julian influence, Julian recognizes the black woman
who knocked his mother with a bag would symbolize the whole black race which will not take your patronizing pennies. He also points out that the old
manners are old–fashioned (O'Connor). He, therefore, realizes her mother has collapsed and is struggling on the ground, there he watches his mom
die from the blow, possibly life on the universe is not that easy it presents so many challenges, and one has to be bold enough to face them. The
world is therefore not a place where things are just either white or black. From the synopsis, it is imperative to note that "Everything That Rises Must
Converge" it is not that simple story as you may infer. It presents a complex issue of race, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

WhatВґs Intelligent Design?
Intelligent Design Though discussion of Intelligent Design (ID) often occurs in modern times, it is not a new theory. This paper is an exploration of
the tenets of ID. The basic tenet of ID is that, because of the complexity of nature, an "intelligent designer" must have had a role in creation. Supporters
do not necessarily believe this creator is the Biblical God; it might have been another superior being. Unlike the theory of evolution which believes that
all living things developed over millions of years from simple organisms, ID believes that living creatures are too complex to have developed purely
naturally. Interestingly, theological dictionaries are silent as to a definition of ID. ID dates back thousands of years to the times of Marcus Tullius and
Cicero of Rome who argued that nature's design came into being through an intelligent creator. Panaetius believed that an immanent spirit controlled
the eternal world. Somewhat echoing Cicero was Aquinas' "Five Ways" to prove God's existence. In modern times, the theory of ID garnered
widespread attention after the publication of the book entitled Of Pandas and People in 1989. In 1996 biochemistry professor Michael Behe published a
book entitled Darwin's Black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This scientific emphasis speaks to the fact that ID theorists want their theory presented in schools, if not in place of, then certainly alongside the
Darwinian evolution theory. In this way, theorists can enlighten students to another way of looking at creation. Creationwiki states that "Intelligent
design (ID) can be used as a scientific tool to deduce whether a system's components are the product of chance, natural law, intelligent design, or some
combination." This scientific approach may be the avenue for scientists to realize there is not just an intelligent designer, but that the intelligent
designer of all creation is the God of the

Theme Of Everything That Rises Must Converge By Flannery O...
While the effect of racism and discrimination is hotly debated, the world is not what it was yesterday. The changing society can ultimately result in
battles between young and old generations causing individuals to rely on human instincts to resolve issues. In Flannery O' Connor's short story
"Everything That Rises Must Converge," two characters clash in a generational conflict. On the surface, the story shows an issue of racism and
discrimination, however, it shows a deeper understanding of humanity's maturity. Characters include Julian, and his nameless mother who has high
"blood pressure" (O' Connor 405). Although Julian criticizes his mom's behaviour towards people of colour, he fails to realize the downfall of his own
demeanor.

Julian's mother dwells in the past and family heritage, not familiarizing to a new society and integrated South. The mother is not used to treating blacks
with equality, yet she wears the same hat as the negro woman. When Julian is displeased with his mother's point of view, he aims to change her,
showing a generational conflict. Julian does not reach his full potential and his relationship with his mother is of much distress. After the bus ride and
confrontation with the negro woman, the mother dies, before she can accept new customs. Although Julian is filled with remorse and regret, Patricia
Dinneen Maida points out that the stroke could be a drive for Julian to change. Neither Julian or his mother are wrong, nor adapting to each other's point
of view. Montgomery expresses that although the relation to the title seems unknown, it is only after the tragic incident that the story's title comes into

All About Peace Education

вћў INTRODUCTION: Education shall be directed toward the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for
human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups and

Many writers make an important distinction between positive and negative peace. Negative peace is defined as the absence of large–scale physical
violence – the absence of the condition of war. Positive peace involves the development of a society in which, except for the absence of direct
violence, there is no structural violence or social injustice. Accordingly, peace education could be defined as an interdisciplinary area of education
whose goal is institutionalized and non–institutionalized teaching about peace and for peace. Peace education aims to help students acquire skills for
non–violent conflict resolution and to reinforce these skills for active and responsible action in the society for the promotion of the values of peace.
Therefore, unlike the concept of conflict resolution, which can be considered to be retroactive – trying to solve a conflict after it has already occurred –
peace education has a more proactive approach. Its aim is to prevent a conflict in advance or rather to educate individuals and a society for a peaceful
existence on the basis of non–violence, tolerance, equality, respect for differences, and social justice.
вћў PHILOSOPHY OF PEACE EDUCATION вњ“ Definition of the Philosophy of Peace Education: The philosophy of peace education can be
defined, most simply, as the elaboration of reasons why we ought to be committed to peace education. To some extent, all writers on peace and peace
education may be said to

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was born on May 1, 1881 at a family estate of Sarcenat near Clermont–Ferrand, Auvergne. He was born into a family of
eight, being the fourth born child to Emmanuel and Berthe–Adele Teilhard de Chardin. His oldest brother died in September 1902, then his youngest
sister died in 1904, and his oldest sister in 1911. The death of his oldest sister greatly saddened Pierre because she was the only other religious family
member. She had become a Little Sister of the Poor and worked with the poor of Shanghai. Pierre said she lead a very selfless life. At a very young...

He was a very unique man and had an interesting theory that I like very much. He was concerned most with the expanding population. He didn't
understand how we can continue to grow in population in an Earth of finite resources. A quote by Teilhard de Chardin in "Phenomenon of Man",
"The success of humanity's evolution will not be determined by survival of the fittest but by our own capacity to converge and unify". What he
meant by this is that it isn't about who is going to be the best but can we come together as a whole? "We are one, after all, you and I. Together we
suffer, together exist, and forever will recreate each other". I believe this quote from Chardin describes his theory of evolution in a visual manner. I
like this quote because I can easily grasp what he is saying. Through unity and love, we evolve. Pierre lived through two world wars, and through the
rise of nuclear power. I believe he was incredibly intelligent and very observative. Through the wars he lived and the places he traveled, he saw this

Piltdown M The Missing Link
I decided to use the term "missing link" simply because around that time, scientists believed Piltdown man was, in fact, the "missing link" to our
lineage from which we evolved. I did not use it because I believe it is an accurate depiction of the primate lineage. The faults which persuaded the
perpetrator, or perpetrators, would depend on who was the one behind the Piltdown hoax. For instance, years later after Piltdown man was exposed as
a hoax, a trunk with Martin A. C. Hilton's initials were found in the attic of the Natural History Museum after his passing. In in they discovered bones
with carvings and stains similar to those of Piltdown man. Martin A. C. Hilton was known to not be very fond of Charles Dawson, his drive. Charles

Relationship Between Science And Religion
Relationships between Science and Religion
The first relationship between science and religion in conflict. Science believes in the constant growth of knowledge whereas religion holds on to
ancient knowledge. New knowledge gained through experiments and innovations is what enables science to continue building on its existent
knowledge. This brings about a situation whereby science can question common assumptions, even within the religion. This case was witnessed in the
17th century when Galileo came up with new inventions which almost got him in trouble with the church. What Galileo was trying to prove was not
accepted by the Christian religion which was dominant in Italy. The fact that science allows for innovation and constant quest to challenge existent
knowledge is not a thing that is taken easily in religion, this has brought some scholars to believe that science and religion have been in a constant
methodological, factual and philosophical conflict. Thus, Galileo was a symbol of conflict between catholic church and modern science. Another
evidence of conflicting relationship between the two in 19th century by Charles Darwin (Theory of evolution of species). He says the lively things on
earth got here over a period of years (natural selection). From beginning Christians weren't troubled by Darwin, say God created all sciences. There
were also biblically literalistic Christians who says Darwin is wrong, they say God created everything that exists. In 20th

Love Always Converge
Flannery O' Conner was born in Georgia. Her Southern Catholic views on racial issues and religion gives O' Conner her name. She continued to

ideal of everything and everyone will be joined at the end of the geologic time." (179) The author uses this theme to explain in the story how the old

Though out the ride Julian encounter with several black passengers. He tries to talk to them but fails.
A mother's love overpowers any tradition or belief. Julian is far too self–absorbed to appreciate the many sacrifices his mother has made for him in the
beginning. Julian only thinks of ways to educate her bleak view of the world, " True culture is in the mind, the mind...and tapped his head, the

teeth to rot to afford him braces. Through all Julian ungratefulness, she does not give up on him like she doesn't give up on the return of the old

significant bits of Theology as the Roman Catholic Church, perhaps a century late, has finally come to a difficult crossroads about the creation of the
world: Should the Vatican alter (no pun intended) modify Church Dogmas, which are infallible snippets of doctrinal teaching, or ignore rapid scientific
finds that have eroded the Church's belief that God created one man and one woman. These men, who study Theology, Physics, Theology, and

Unfortunately, there is no proof for the alleged Creator. It is important, however, to acknowledge that Science has not disproved God either. Science has
further discounted the Church's teaching that Adam and Eve existed with artifacts of animals, many of which have human characteristics, existing
thousands of years before the appearance of the human form society knows today. Science has discovered that humans share approximately ninety
seven percent of the same DNA with chimpanzees, and that humans have one less chromosome than monkeys. Charles Darwin, a nineteenth century
English naturalist, developed a controversial peace that challenged the established theories of how humans developed, which until his time, remained
based heavily on the Christian Churches. His Theory of Evolution, and the Roman Catholic Church's response (or lack thereof) to the theory has brought
increased criticism from liberal theologians and scientists alike about whether or not the Church is serious about evolution and science in general. This
comes as an admittedly liberal organization, National Public Radio, released an article that detailed how "At Johns Hopkins University, research
suggests that chemicals that act on the serotonin system trigger mystical experiences that are life–altering. Serotonin is a chemical messenger that
helps regulate mood and sleep." (NPR) Consequently, some scientists now claim that the evidence is "scientific fact" that

The Characteristics Of The Piltdown Man
A century ago, the Piltdown man was presented to the world as one of the most phenomenal and astonishing discoveries of time – only to be revealed as
the boldest and most ingenious hoax in the history of science.
In 1912, Charles Dawson, a scientist and an amateur archaeologist, had exhumed two skull bones and a jawbone with two teeth after a three year
excavation of the Piltdown gravel in Sussex, England. Dawson along with Arthur Smith Woodward, imminent geologist and a caretaker of the
geological department in the British Museum claimed that the jawbone and skull fragment must have come from the same skull as they were a
seemingly good fit. The skull had characteristics of both ape and human. Woodward named the skullPiltdown man. On 18 December 1912, they
presented 'Piltdown man' to the world at a conference of the Geological Society of London where they exhibited a reconstructed skull. They
enthusiastically announced that the jawbone and one of skull fragments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The jawbone, for one, looked fare more ape–like than anyone would imagine finding attached to the high vaulted skull of a human. Furthermore a
crucial piece of the skull was missing – the canine. Dawson employed the help of an amateur archaeologist, Teilhard de Chardin. A single canine tooth,
which matched Dawson and Woodward's prediction about its size, was excavated a year later. In addition to there, they also discovered another
Piltdown Man. This put a stop to the doubts and suspicions. With support from family members and the Natural History Museum, Piltdown man was
established as the earliest ancestor of humans.
For 40 years, the Piltdown man was accepted by the scientific community as a genuine artifact. Decades passed and new evidence was brought to light

Comparing Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring And The Neuman Systems Model Jayanna Volm Concordia University Comparing Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring And The Neuman Systems Model Nursing frameworks and conceptual models are imperative as a foundation for nursing practice. These frameworks provide recognition, understanding, and the ability to manage phenomena in which nursing comes into contact. These frameworks also provide the nurse with a systematic approach to interventions and goal attainment. The purpose of this paper is to compare Neuman Systems Model to Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring. According to Alligood and Tomey the Neuman Systems Model is classified as a nursing conceptual model. "Nursing conceptual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3). The feedback loop is the regulator of information. How well the system responds to stress and strain will be dependent on its feedback loop and the flow of information. All systems try to maintain equilibrium or homeostasis state. To achieve this goal, an open system is always in constant motion, sharing ideas and reacting to the input and output flow (Tourville & Ingalls, 2003, Systems Model, para. 3). According to Alligood and Tomey Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring is classified as nursing philosophy. "Nursing philosophy sets forth the meaning of nursing phenomena through analysis, reasoning, and logical argument. Philosophies contribute to nursing knowledge by providing direction for the discipline, forming a basis for professional scholarship and leading to new theoretical understandings" (Alligood & Tomey, 2010, p. 69). Tourville and Ingalls classify Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring as a developmental model. "The developmental model makes an assumption that there is a process of growth or maturation that is directional and has some orderly purpose. At each stage of development changes are inherent, predictable, and have some causal factors" (Tourville & Ingalls, 2003, Developmental Model, para. 1). • 2. Personal Narrative Analysis I attach myself to words, certain words and literature seem to draw out my inner optimist. I spend my free time watching biographies and documentaries or reciting poetry of Langston Hughes and although I tip toe over a plethora of quotable sentences and words, I find myself stuck on one in particular. The word that leaves footprints throughout the sands of my mind is "Triumphant" /trД«Л€Й™mfЙ™nt/ the dictionary defines the word as "feeling or expressing jubilation after having won a victory or mastered a difficulty." In layman's terms it's just considered "winning" but Triumphant to me means so much more. Growing up I have had my shares of troubles, I've had my shares of trials and tribulations that ended up diminishing my hope. Quite honestly... (Here being my current situation) I felt like I had no clear understanding on the concept of "being an adult" frustrated I set time aside and moved some boxes looking to organize what was at the time a disastrous room hopping to get my mind off the situation at hand and a book my teacher gave me as a graduation gift rolled out. It was marked with her well known insignia which was a cursive "s" inside of a overlapping "o" I sat on the side of my mattress as I skimmed through the pages till I reached a note, the note read as "Nothing can resist the person who smiles at life – I don't mean the ironic and disillusioned smile of my grandfather, but the triumphant smile of the person who knows that he will survive, or that at least he will be saved by what seems to be destroying him. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin" Given that I'm a millennial and I grew up through the age of flourishing technology, my attention span falls short from time to time, but the quote had me in complete awe and out of all 48 words that made up the poem the few that made my heart stop as if my beat was paused were "the triumphant ... • 3. Pierre Teilhard Research Paper Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Sj, was born on May 1, 1881 in Sarcenat, France and he died April 10, 1955 in New York City ("Pierre Teilhard De Chardin"). He was a Jesuit paleontologist who worked to connect and understand both evolution and faith. Teilhard first became interested in nature as a child and as he grew older he furthered his studies in both geology and the natural sciences. After he entered into the Jesuits, when he was eighteen, he prepared to give up his interests so that he may better give himself to his spiritual vocation. While in the Jesuits, the Church issued a monitum to Teilhard warning him against uncritical acceptance of the ideas he had and would later write about. Even with this warning, his spiritual dedication was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obedience is, also, easily arguable and some of the points for poverty also lean towards obedience. Teilhard has a deeper kind of poverty than just that of physical belongings. He has poverty in his soul. This is shown when he joined the fight in World War I. He easily could have been a chaplain which would have been a higher ranked and less dangerous role. Instead, he chose to be a stretcher bearer and constantly risked his life to safe the lives of his fellow soldiers. When he first entered into the Jesuits he was willing to give up his passion so that he may serve others. He was preparing to and would have had he been asked to. This is a man who truly took nothing for granted and would give everything he had up if need be. The Church told him that he would not be able to see some of his works published and they would only be published after he died. Instead of leaving, he stayed and continued doing his work and publishing what he could. This shows poverty as he gave up what he worked hard to accomplish because the Church told him to. This shows not only obedience but the poverty of his soul. Poverty to the point that he could and would give up everything he wanted and had accomplished to better serve ... Polytheism Polytheism Reproduced, with permission, from THE FUTURIST, Published by the World Future Society, 7910 Woodmont Avenue, Suite 450, Bethesda, Maryland 20814 Toward the end of the nineteenth century, the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche wrote a fictional account of a madman who went about the town proclaiming that "God is dead." Nietzsche's story is illustrative of a wave of atheism that spread through the intellectual circles of Europe in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, but that never caught on in society at large. The idea of the divine demise, however, did not die: A movement by theologians resurrected Nietzsche's thesis in the 1960s, amidst the other forms of radical thinking that characterized that decade. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... MONOTHEISM'S THREE–PRONGED PROBLEM Monotheism also contains another essential problem––one with implications for the future. The Western God of the Jewish–Christian–Islamic tradition illustrates the core difficulty in monotheism, a philosophical conundrum that has been called the theodicy problem. It is formulated as a trilemma and can best be illustrated this way: Among the following three statements, it is logically possible to reconcile any two of them, but the agreement of two implies that the third is false. The three statements are: 1. God is omnipotent. 2. God loves us. 3. Evil exists. In the first instance, if God can do anything (create the universe, for example), and if the universe contains natural and moral evils (hurricanes and Hitlers, for example), then it would seem that God lacks compassion for the victims, especially when these victims are innocent sufferers. Dostoyevsky's character Ivan in The Brothers Karamazov makes this case eloquently when he tells the story of innocent children tortured by cruel soldiers in front of their parents. How could a loving God allow this? The second case is the acceptance of a loving, concerned God and the existence of evil in the world. This implies that even God cannot find a way to eliminate evil, or at least reserve it as punishment only for those who deserve it. A God who cannot do this is less than omnipotent. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Helmut Schwab and Sri Aurobindo presented two examples of using the term cosmopsychology in this expanded, non–astrological context. The Dutch physician Matthijs Cornelissen of the Indian Psychology Institute used the term cosmopsychology in regards to the teachings of the Indian teacher Sri Aurobindo (1872 – 1950).6 Aurobindo called his cosmopsychology or spiritual psychology integral yoga. His teachings have also been referred to as integral psychology and as integrality. Integral yoga is based on Hinduism's Advaita Vedanta (not two) or non –dual philosophy. According to Aurobindo, consciousness pervades the universe and manifests in a range of gradations. Consciousness undergoes both involutionary and evolutionary phases. Its involutionary phase is seen as the creation of matter and the physical universe. Its evolutionary phase is seen in the evolution of life and the spiritual development of humanity. Aurobindo's teachings focused primarily on the ongoing evolution of consciousness by means of the spiritual development of the individual. Aurobindo described three systems of mind or consciousness: (1) the surface/outer/frontal consciousness (typically gross state), consisting of physical, vital, and mental levels of consciousness; (2) a deeper/psychic/soul system behind the frontal in each of its levels (inner physical, inner vital, inner mental, and innermost psychic or soul; typically subtle state); and (3) the vertical ascending/descending ... The Piltdown Hoax Introduction The infamous event of the Piltdown hoax is one that continues to draw speculative attention over a century after the initial announcement of the paleoanthropological findings. Although many scientists, especially those involved in the field of paleoanthropology, would like to forget the incident entirely, the Piltdown man–taxonomically referred to as Eoanthropus dawsoni–is perhaps the greatest hoax in anthropological history. By 1912, British archaeologists and paleontologists were desperate for a significant paleoanthropological finding that would provide the missing link between humans and apes in hominin evolution (Prosser, 2009). This was the first concrete evidence implicating Hinton in the Piltdown hoax (Gardiner, 2003). Contained in the trunk were x teeth similarly stained to the materials discovered at Piltdown I, while several other materials, such as elephant and hippopotami teeth and bone fragments, had been whitened similar in fashion to the 'cricket bat' found at the Piltdown II site; the cricket bat having been made form an elephant femur. Hinton had experimented with bone and tooth staining (De Groote et al., 2016) predominantly staining them with iron to match the gravels of a Pleistocene era (Gardiner, 2003)... Also among Hinton's effects, were eight human teeth that had been stained with iron, chromium, and manganese (Gardiner & Currant, 1996), similar to those of the Piltdown site. When the fluorine dating method was implemented this further incriminated Hinton as the findings from the Piltdown I site evidenced "a recent ape jaw and canine had been artificially modified, stained and planted at Piltdown I, along with parts of a similarly stained recent human skull" (De Groote, 2016, p. 4). • 7. Flannery O Connor's Everything That Rises Must Converge "Everything that Rises Must Converge" looks like a simple story when you read the literal meaning of the title terms, it also sounds like the author has presented a simple story that can be easily understood without any struggle with the stylistic nature of the work and the religious symbolism incorporated. In this book, we are presented with Mrs. Chestny; she's a fanatic who believes that the black man must rise. This is based on the fact that she condescendingly offers some money to the small black child in the story due to his sons Julian influence, Julian recognizes the black woman who knocked his mother with a bag would symbolize the whole black race which will not take your patronizing pennies. He also points out that the old manners are old–fashioned (O'Connor). He, therefore, realizes her mother has collapsed and is struggling on the ground, there he watches his mom die from the blow, possibly life on the universe is not that easy it presents so many challenges, and one has to be bold enough to face them. The world is therefore not a place where things are just either white or black. • 8. WhatВґs Intelligent Design? Intelligent Design Though discussion of Intelligent Design (ID) often occurs in modern times, it is not a new theory. This paper is an exploration of the tenets of ID. The basic tenet of ID is that, because of the complexity of nature, an "intelligent designer" must have had a role in creation. Supporters do not necessarily believe this creator is the Biblical God; it might have been another superior being. Unlike the theory of evolution which believes that all living things developed over millions of years from simple organisms, ID believes that living creatures are too complex to have developed purely naturally. Interestingly, theological dictionaries are silent as to a definition of ID. ID dates back thousands of years to the times of Marcus Tullius and Cicero of Rome who argued that nature's design came into being through an intelligent creator. Panaetius believed that an immanent spirit controlled the eternal world. Somewhat echoing Cicero was Aquinas' "Five Ways" to prove God's existence. In modern times, the theory of ID garnered widespread attention after the publication of the book entitled Of Pandas and People in 1989. In 1996 biochemistry professor Michael Behe published a book entitled Darwin's Black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This scientific approach may be the avenue for scientists to realize there is not just an intelligent designer, but that the intelligent designer of all creation is the God of the ... The changing society can ultimately result in battles between young and old generations causing individuals to rely on human instincts to resolve issues. In Flannery O' Connor's short story "Everything That Rises Must Converge," two characters clash in a generational conflict. On the surface, the story shows an issue of racism and discrimination, however, it shows a deeper understanding of humanity's maturity. Julian does not reach his full potential and his relationship with his mother is of much distress. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace. Many writers make an important distinction between positive and negative peace. Negative peace is defined as the absence of large–scale physical violence – the absence of the condition of war. Positive peace involves the development of a society in which, except for the absence of direct violence, there is no structural violence or social injustice. Accordingly, peace education could be defined as an interdisciplinary area of education whose goal is institutionalized and non–institutionalized teaching about peace and for peace. Peace education aims to help students acquire skills for non–violent conflict resolution and to reinforce these skills for active and responsible action in the society for the promotion of the values of peace. Therefore, unlike the concept of conflict resolution, which can be considered to be retroactive – trying to solve a conflict after it has already occurred – peace education has a more proactive approach. Its aim is to prevent a conflict in advance or rather to educate individuals and a society for a peaceful existence on the basis of non–violence, tolerance, equality, respect for differences, and social justice. вћў PHILOSOPHY OF PEACE EDUCATION вњ“ Definition of the Philosophy of Peace Education: The philosophy of peace education can be defined, most simply, as the elaboration of reasons why we ought to be committed to peace education. To some extent, all writers on peace and peace education may be said to

  • 12. Who Is Pierre Teilhard De Chardin? Christology of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin Hannah Marks Saint Joseph's College of Maine TH 301A– Christology Dr. Sunderman November 30, 2016 Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was born on May 1, 1881 at a family estate of Sarcenat near Clermont–Ferrand, Auvergne. He was born into a family of eight, being the fourth born child to Emmanuel and Berthe–Adele Teilhard de Chardin. His oldest brother died in September 1902, then his youngest sister died in 1904, and his oldest sister in 1911. The death of his oldest sister greatly saddened Pierre because she was the only other religious family member. She had become a Little Sister of the Poor and worked with the poor of Shanghai. Pierre said she lead a very selfless life. At a very young... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was a very unique man and had an interesting theory that I like very much. He was concerned most with the expanding population. He didn't understand how we can continue to grow in population in an Earth of finite resources. A quote by Teilhard de Chardin in "Phenomenon of Man", "The success of humanity's evolution will not be determined by survival of the fittest but by our own capacity to converge and unify". What he meant by this is that it isn't about who is going to be the best but can we come together as a whole? "We are one, after all, you and I. Together we suffer, together exist, and forever will recreate each other". I believe this quote from Chardin describes his theory of evolution in a visual manner. I like this quote because I can easily grasp what he is saying. Through unity and love, we evolve. Pierre lived through two world wars, and through the rise of nuclear power. I believe he was incredibly intelligent and very observative. Through the wars he lived and the places he traveled, he saw this Christology of the Omega Point ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Piltdown M The Missing Link I decided to use the term "missing link" simply because around that time, scientists believed Piltdown man was, in fact, the "missing link" to our lineage from which we evolved. I did not use it because I believe it is an accurate depiction of the primate lineage. The faults which persuaded the perpetrator, or perpetrators, would depend on who was the one behind the Piltdown hoax. For instance, years later after Piltdown man was exposed as a hoax, a trunk with Martin A. C. Hilton's initials were found in the attic of the Natural History Museum after his passing. In in they discovered bones with carvings and stains similar to those of Piltdown man. Martin A. C. Hilton was known to not be very fond of Charles Dawson, his drive. Charles Dawson, ... • 14. Relationship Between Science And Religion Relationships between Science and Religion The first relationship between science and religion in conflict. Science believes in the constant growth of knowledge whereas religion holds on to ancient knowledge. New knowledge gained through experiments and innovations is what enables science to continue building on its existent knowledge. This brings about a situation whereby science can question common assumptions, even within the religion. This case was witnessed in the 17th century when Galileo came up with new inventions which almost got him in trouble with the church. What Galileo was trying to prove was not accepted by the Christian religion which was dominant in Italy. The fact that science allows for innovation and constant quest to challenge existent knowledge is not a thing that is taken easily in religion, this has brought some scholars to believe that science and religion have been in a constant methodological, factual and philosophical conflict. Thus, Galileo was a symbol of conflict between catholic church and modern science. Another evidence of conflicting relationship between the two in 19th century by Charles Darwin (Theory of evolution of species). He says the lively things on earth got here over a period of years (natural selection). From beginning Christians weren't troubled by Darwin, say God created all sciences. There were also biblically literalistic Christians who says Darwin is wrong, they say God created everything that exists. In 20th ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She continued to express her views on the decaying south up to her death. " Everything That Rises Must Converge" was one of O'Connor's last pieces before lupus took her life. The title" Everything That Rises Must Converge" is borrowed from the works of Teilhard de Chardin. "The religion philosopher explains the ideal of everything and everyone will be joined at the end of the geologic time." (179) The author uses this theme to explain in the story how the old south and the new south emerge creating one south. The author's agenda in the short story is to explore the ... When its time for her to buy something, like a hat for herself she feels guilty. She allows her own teeth to rot to afford him braces. Through all Julian ungratefulness, she does not give up on him like she doesn't give up on the return of the old south. North Whitehead, Monsignor Luigi Guissani, and Charles Hartshorne have contributed significant bits of Theology as the Roman Catholic Church, perhaps a century late, has finally come to a difficult crossroads about the creation of the world: Should the Vatican alter (no pun intended) modify Church Dogmas, which are infallible snippets of doctrinal teaching, or ignore rapid scientific finds that have eroded the Church's belief that God created one man and one woman. These men, who study Theology, Physics, Theology, and Philosophy, respectively, provide scientific basis on why theCatholic Church must adapt a Theology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, there is no proof for the alleged Creator. It is important, however, to acknowledge that Science has not disproved God either. Science has further discounted the Church's teaching that Adam and Eve existed with artifacts of animals, many of which have human characteristics, existing thousands of years before the appearance of the human form society knows today. Science has discovered that humans share approximately ninety seven percent of the same DNA with chimpanzees, and that humans have one less chromosome than monkeys. Charles Darwin, a nineteenth century English naturalist, developed a controversial peace that challenged the established theories of how humans developed, which until his time, remained based heavily on the Christian Churches. His Theory of Evolution, and the Roman Catholic Church's response (or lack thereof) to the theory has brought increased criticism from liberal theologians and scientists alike about whether or not the Church is serious about evolution and science in general. This comes as an admittedly liberal organization, National Public Radio, released an article that detailed how "At Johns Hopkins University, research suggests that chemicals that act on the serotonin system trigger mystical experiences that are life–altering. Serotonin is a chemical messenger that helps regulate mood and sleep." (NPR) Consequently, some scientists now claim that the evidence is "scientific fact" that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Characteristics Of The Piltdown Man A century ago, the Piltdown man was presented to the world as one of the most phenomenal and astonishing discoveries of time – only to be revealed as the boldest and most ingenious hoax in the history of science. In 1912, Charles Dawson, a scientist and an amateur archaeologist, had exhumed two skull bones and a jawbone with two teeth after a three year excavation of the Piltdown gravel in Sussex, England. Dawson along with Arthur Smith Woodward, imminent geologist and a caretaker of the geological department in the British Museum claimed that the jawbone and skull fragment must have come from the same skull as they were a seemingly good fit. The skull had characteristics of both ape and human. Woodward named the skullPiltdown man. On 18 December 1912, they presented 'Piltdown man' to the world at a conference of the Geological Society of London where they exhibited a reconstructed skull. They enthusiastically announced that the jawbone and one of skull fragments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The jawbone, for one, looked fare more ape–like than anyone would imagine finding attached to the high vaulted skull of a human. Furthermore a crucial piece of the skull was missing – the canine. Dawson employed the help of an amateur archaeologist, Teilhard de Chardin. A single canine tooth, which matched Dawson and Woodward's prediction about its size, was excavated a year later. In addition to there, they also discovered another Piltdown Man. This put a stop to the doubts and suspicions. With support from family members and the Natural History Museum, Piltdown man was established as the earliest ancestor of humans. For 40 years, the Piltdown man was accepted by the scientific community as a genuine artifact. Decades passed and new evidence was brought to light – The skull was found to be a ...
